He thought Megadeth was too "in the middle", where its pop wasn't pop enough and its metal wasn't hard enough. @TrevDogg920 actually there isnt one professional musician out there that claims eric clapton to be a guitar god in any way. ALl he knows is pentaonic minor and major scales. hes been stuck in a rut for years and cannot make a unique solo, its always the same shitty pentatonic lick.
hes made some decent songs, but as a musician and guitar player all around, hes nowhere near the skill level and talent as marty friedman.
