lonewolf - are you too young to remember that Bush and 204 Republicans in Congress passed the medicare prescription act in 2004 - the largest expansion of corporate welfare and socialized medicine in 50 years??? Nobody called him a commie...
I did not agree with everything that bush did but I cannot ignore the fact that this bill will do the following. 1. expand the deficit (even more than bush ever did) 2. Force people into a socialist health care system, and eventually be the only health care industry in the country. 3. bankrupt small businesses by overtaxing them.
lonewolf - well, indeed those are all valid points and I applaud that.I would point out that some of that may or may not be true as there are several plans floating around. We will still have medicare/medicaid so not the only care. Businesses are already pinched by providing health insurance (taxes could be less than paying for health care?) I DO however agree that we can't afford it and that it's cost will be 10 times what they say and for that I have serious probs with it.
lonewolf - I'm no Obama supporter at all but I do get tired of all the hate, namecalling and misuse of terms like socialist. Bush actually started most of the programs Obama gets attacked for - bought AIG, Fannie, Freddie, bank bailouts and the auto takeover. I just think people should attack government in general - not this pointless, illusory, stupid, and dead dempublicans versus republicrats paradigm - a total waste of time.
I don't hate obama I hate his policies. his lack strength in foreign policy, he is making the dollar, and America look weak. He is supposed to be the leader of the free world, and he does not act like it. this what i say it takes longer to fix a mistake than it does to make the right decision. and the government is full of corrupt people and we need to look at each one in order to get rid of them.
I like your attitude - it is about policies not the man.Obama is not doing well but some forget the total mess he inherited - anyone would probably be screwed right now.I think the mess makes America look weak, not Obama per se, in spite of Rightwing propaganda and the media. But yes - most of Wash DC has to go - I agree.
Bush made some huge mistakes as well.. the war in Iraq was one of them.. it pains me to say it but its true..he is as much blame as Obama if not more. That is why the next presidential election is going to be very important because we will need to look inward and say no more to the republicans and democrats and maybe vote some one in who is neither.
OMG - music to my ears!!! The dempublicans vs republicrats paradigm is stupid, illusory, pointless and dead. The funny thing about all this hatred towards Obama is that he is essentially doing the same as Bush - socialization, bailouts, war, big government.I have equal scorn towards Bush and Obama and I blame neither either more or less. Most of Congress needs to go and people need to realize the dems and repubs as they are now are not going to save us.
the more I think about it the more it makes me think that its not our country that is broken. its the government that causes these policies that broken. I mean everything that the government touches turns into crap. The Government is spending us into oblivion.. most of the good things that has been accomplished are because of individuals making the right decision..NOT THE GOVERNMENT!!
As usual - people seem to have completely misunderstood what Obama was saying on the neocon-labelled apology tour. In politicalspeak, he was apologizing for Bush's arrogance, not America as a whole. That nuance was lost on those who will not hear. Remember - Bush was the guy who told the terrorists to "bring it on" and that "mission accomplished." (sounds like arrogance to me)
Whatever - you are just spewing more and more bullshit. Later - as Bones said " he's dead (in the head) Jim." Your partisan bullshit is stupid - you dempublicans and republicrats deserve each other.
It is hard to understand such a nuanced intelligent leader such as Obama. How could the common people pretend to understand such a profound man as Obama? We get it, Bush bad Obama and Democrats good. That might be true in the revisionist history book, but not in reality. The reality is at the US Treasury website where you can find out who is doing all of this deficit spending and how much. Bush was not a great president and so far Obama is not either, he is off to a worse start than Bush.
diplomacy is nuanced, not necessarily Obama. I see no rational thought in the Rightwing anymore as they are utterly blinded by seething hate of Obama.Anybody who actually reads my comments knows that I think Democrats suck, too - I just don't personally hate Obama. Yeah, Obama is spending like crazy but much of the spending are bailouts and wars inherited from Bush - he can't exactly just shut the spicket off (although I wish he would) or even all theconservatives would scream bloody murder.
bertly71 - the key part is - "both sides of the spectrum." I guess the question becomes, who is going to admit it first? I know all about haters on the left - it just seems like many on the Right at this moment act like their brethren aren't haters - they won't even see a lot of the terrible comments made by conservatives on these posts. As you no doubt already know - I get screamed at and end up down in the gutter and saying really horrible stuff, too. Not proud but get trashed pretty bad...
Of course, Obama is off to a worse start than Bush - for one thing, Bush inherited a huge surplus, no wars, and an economy that at least appeared to be healthy. Obama inherited the biggest deficits in the combined history of the country, two nearly decade old wars, and an economy in total meltdown. I still think Obama 's policies suck, but let's be real here.
Bush inherited a yearly surplus but the debt was still around 2 trillion. He also inherited eight years of the Clinton intelligence failures that led to 9-11. Bush was in office for 8 months, the plot took 5 years of logistics to plan. Bush gets part of the blame and Clinton gets the rest using current logic regarding the state of the economy.
bertly71 - I seem to recall Clinton bombing Bin Laden and leaving terrorist guidelines that Bush ignored when in office (see Richard Clark) - and who can forget the Condy Rice denial of the 'Bin Laden plans attack on US using planes"memo that got ignored (look it up.) As far as the economy, their is equal blame to go around to Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and though Obama caused none of this, the corporate lapdog economists in his administration are determined to make it much much worse.
And as far as historical revisionism - we have 8 years of Bush's endless failures to analyze - compared to 10 MONTHs of Obama's failures. Talk about historical revisionism. All the neocons demanded everyone to have patience with Bush's surge in Iraq and yet now judge Obama's policies the minute he announces them. (although, as stated, I think Obama's policies suck and will mostly all fail)
I swear I am not following you Bertly. I find it funny that we view the same things. I actually find it funny from the news' perspective that somehow Chicago had a chance based on how popular Obama is with the other countries. I really do think our news is oblivious to the realities outside our borders. They can spin it anyway they want to , but RIO is a much more picturesque place than Chicago. I am sure they will do a wonderful job preparing. How arrogant to think we deserved the Olympics ; )
They are so blindly in love with Obama, that they think everyone else is. You can see by some of the posting here on this board, the state of denial and the refusal to consider facts supplied by our own government to gauge the ineffectiveness of our current leadership. They spout DNC talking points that the MSM repeats as facts. The website called the national debt clock is an eye opener, laced with facts. We know the Obama supporters will avoid that one too. You and I think alike.
The liberals are blindly in love with Obama ...and the conservatives are blindly in hate with Obama - why is one better or worse than the other? I think more people have to realize that no matter who was president right now, they would probably be failing miserably considering the mess left to them. Most economists have pointed out that not much can really be done to stop total economic meltdown. And I'm not justifying Obama's policies - they totally suck ( just like Bush's poloicies)
The venom released toward Obama is just a manifestation of all of the vile hatred the left unleashed toward Bush and his family for eight years. So far they have left the Obama children out of it, unlike what the lefts attack dogs did to the Bush girls. They should leave the kids out of it in all cases. The left sank pretty low when they attacked the Bush and Palin children. I do not see the positive effect of any of Obama's policies on our economy or foreign policy. Perhaps they need more time.
bertly - about the venom - I know the Bush backlash is part of it...but only part of it. I have no problem with righteous anger towards Obama's administration or his actual faults - I get tired of the personal stuff and all the distortions, lies, hypocrisy and all the trite distractions (his plane trips when Bush flew to Crawford on taxpayers 77 times at a cost of over $2 million.) there are plenty of real issues about Obama to be mad about.
I see it as equally ugly from both sides. The political standard has been lowered to an all out gutter sniping battle. If you are a student of history, this is nothing new. Jefferson wrote anonymous articles attacking Washington. Adams found out and it created a rift between them. Washington refused to retaliate. It has gone on since then and will never get better. We all get tired of the personal stuff but it continues. It is a distraction from real issues they don't want us fact checking.
bertly71 - the libs did trash Bush 9and Cheney et al0 but I will say it was all real stuff - they didn't make anything up in my opinion. Bush's daughters were left alone until the went out and drank and got kicked out of countries 9Chelsea Clinton would have been trashed but she laid low)but I agree should be left alone.Palin exploited her own kids so much I felt she had it coming - again, my opinion.
bertly71 - as far as Obama's foreign and domestic policies - frankly I don't think they effective now and i'm afraid they won't be with more time, either. Most real economists say the meltdown (worse to come)cannot be stopped no matter what anyone did - I agree with that but will add that Obama's choices have made all worse - but all the blame doesn't go to him - much is tired economic thinking from his lame appointments. His foreign policy - exactly the same as Bush and equally failed.
these decisions are made way before obama's attempt... they take into account so many factors, why blame obama for it ? idiot ! your ignorance is an epic fail !
I don't blame him for it. I'm laughing at the pathetic speeches both he and Michelle-my-belle made that were all about THEM. I'm laughing at how the mainstream media all had Obamagasms over them and how the United States supposedly had it in the bag after such brilliant, empassioned pleas. Obama is inexperienced and clueless - clueless about America's standing in the world, about what make the country work and about how to be Commander-in-Chief.
jtkirk - you want to see some pathetic speeches? Ya got 8 years of Bush's failed education on display. Your hatred of Obama is so strong you can't even think straight.
Oh, you mean like Bush's address to Congress after 9/11, considered one of the 100 greatest speeches in history? Obama is trying to reshape America in his own socialist image. Give me, a free-market conservative, one good reason why I shouldn't hate that? Obama is a kid with a five-minute career. He doesn't know how America works and he definitely doesn't know how to lead.
I admit Bush started out great...and then he blew it (probably listened to Cheney and friends too much.) Remember Bush's speech about "no nation building??" And Bush tried to remake America into his own brand of socialism - it was just OK with you guys because he's on of you.Remember how he got the medicare prescrip act - the largest expansion of the welfare state and socialized medicine in 50 years/ or how he 'socialized" fannie, freddie, and AIG???
Fannie and Freddie were "socialized" from the start when Clinton created them. And I've made it clear that I didn't like everything Bush did and the prescr. drug plan tops my list. I said he was a good Commander-in-Chief.
Obama pushed for the "bailout" as hard as Bush did, and yes McCain as well. However the "bailout" of GM and Chrysler were just to get the government's hands on them when they inevitably filed bankruptcy. The "porkulus" package dwarfs anything Bush ever did including the funding of the war, and it's all Obama's.
BTW, you may as well have it confirmed; I am among those who want Obama to fail. His plans spell the end of a free America as we know it. Someone who claims to have no political offiliation at all should be able to see that. If Obama fails, America, as it was founded, will succeed.
And you wanted Bush to succeed, did you? Yes, I wanted Obama to fail and I have to say, this was about as big as I could have hoped for. I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. I am still laughing. But we are really Americans first. That is why we want Obama to fail. If you were America first, so would you, dumbass.
This is only an "epic failure" in your tiny little minds. You want to see an "epic failure" look back at yer bitch, Bush. Since you don't understand concepts, why would you know the actual meanings of the words you use??
I take solace in knowing that there is only 20% of you dumbass neocon hillbilly neocon fucktards left in this country - the last disgusting remnants of a dead party.
Yeah - that makes sense - 'we are Americans but we want the president to fail." let's see, you wanted Obama, Clinton,Carter, and LBJ to fail but you wanted Reagan, Bush, and Bush to succeed. What does that tell you?
Not so much the president's failure, but his policies. And in order for the policies to fail, so mus the man. His policy failuers are America's success. Just like LBJ and Carter and Clinton, their failures were America's success. Carter failed and we got Reagan! That's a huge success!!! So, yes, I'm American first, even and especially it if means a loser president fails.
Note: It was an epic fail in Bamster's mind too. hee heee heee heee heee.
I'm off to work but you go ahead and sleep in dreaming of 6 year olds and how to spend your unemployment checks. Don't get too drunk or you won't be able to post your bullshit all frickin day.
duanedrain - Reagan was a failure, too - just like bush Sr and bush Jr - and all the presidents you mentioned, too. You just don't know it in your neocon fantasy world. And i repeat - you are republican first and American last.
more importantly, this shows once again that republicans are republicans first and Americans second. The olympics were lost to an AMERICAN city and given to a foreign country and the Republicans are happy because their hatred of, and the failures of, Obama are the most important things to them, even if it costs America...some "patriots..."
No, we would have liked to see America get the olympics. On the other hand, we are happy when Obama's true effectiveness is put on display. You folks wanted us to lose a war over your hatred of Bush. Speaking of said war, Michelle-my-belle went on about her "sacrifice" to go to Denmark while Americans are getting killed in Iraq and Afghanistan while her husband "weighs his options".
Obama is the most important thing to Obama. He thinks it's all about HIM.
I stand by what I said - for Republicans, the part is first and everything else is second. I'm no liberal but Republicans main goal is for Obama to fail - they have no other policies or ideas right now other than to undermine everything Obama does. I saw exactly the same tactics in the 8 years of Clinton. Republicans are a bunch of whiny, pathetic crybaby sore losers. You Dempublicans and Republicrats deserve each other. And the hamster wheel goes around and around.
Stop listening to what you hear in the mainstream media. Conservatives have plenty of ideas on how to reform healthcare. Giving them airtime however isn't in the mainstream liberal media's worldview of Republicans being the party of "no". Obama is trying to ramrod Cap and Trade and healthcare "reform" down our throats during a recession. Both ideas are economic killers. So much for the "most transparent admin in history". Get your news from somewhere else than MSNBC, CNN, ABC, et al.
I stopped listening to MSM years ago (noticed Faux news wasn't on your list) You should follow your own advice. I do however completely agree about your comments about Obama. But really no different than Bush - first time in US history that we had giant tax cuts (mostly for the wealthy) in wartime. I spread my disdain across the political spectrum and have no illusion that either party will solve any problems - they are both in the business of creating them.
Do you really expect people to take you seriously using terms like "Faux News"? If you must know, I don't watch Fox News, even though they are the only ones who come anywhere close to reporting from the center. (Beck doesn't count. He's a editorialist.) The tax cuts got the economy going again and created more government income than was expected BEFORE they went into effect. "Faux News", "tax cuts for the rich" - Your left-wing is showing.
As I suspected - you are all about mainstream news as long as it alligns with your preconceptions. And unlike you, I pick the best from all worlds while you toe the party line like a good little sheeple automaton.BTW - oh yeah - the economy was in great shape because Bush was so great - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
The economy tanked because of the mortgage crisis, which was a liberal problem. 500 characters is not enough to explain it to you. However the lie that you are not a liberal and don't support Obama had been sufficiently exposed. Good day.
this is a wakeup call to you liberals who think obama is "loved" by the world. did you all think that it was going to be easy for obama to just show his face in denmark and IOC was going hand him the gold medal? did you libs really think that after obama was elected that he was going to reaffirm our "standing" in the world? the world thinks he's weak. he puts down our allies and sings kumbaya with the enemy. he's bashed america in speeches abroad, so why would the IOC even consider america?
I'm from Chicago, born and raised, and you are right. Obama cut his teeth on corrupt politics. He got all his competitors, including his mentor State Senator Alice Palmer, off the ballot in his first primary. He did not believe the people needed a choice. He chose himself to be state sentator in 1996.
I'm in ATL and you wouldn't believe how cheap it was to live here before the Olympics came. Property prices shot up instantly and never went down. I'm not sure exactly why, it raised prices here.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why do some see this as a victory against Obama? Surely, it would have been a good thing for you guys to have the olympics in the US. Los Angeles and Atlanta made big profits when they had the olympics. It gives a good boost to the overall economy.
Who wants to host the olympics in this economy. we used to make profiets but with the dems in charge and an idiot in the white house who knows nothing about the private sector. More evidence is the fact of more job losses shown today. Obama is no Mitt Romney. another thing is this. Chicago is known here for high crime and corruption. Oh yes we would love to show the world that.
45jacky, well said!!! I do not want the United States to host the Olympic Games in this kind of economy. I have been to Chicago before and to me, it is not really a place to host one. Unemployment and crimes have skyrocketed in Chicago, Illinois. And obviously, Barack Hussein Obama is NO Mitt Romney. Romney was good in turning around the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Obama just made himself look like a fool in Copenhagen, Denmark.
I live in Atl. After the Olympics, property values went up sharply, and never went down. I've heard almost always the Olympics bring a lot of debt to a town and it's a loss due to the amount of corruption involved.
I really didn't care about the outcome either way, but Chicago has enough of major problems right now that they need to focus on w/o bringing all that extra debt onto its citizens.
One of Obama's cronies stood to make a mint by selling slum apartments to make way for olympic facilities. That was the main reason he wanted them, political payback.
Wonder if their going to have another round of votes?

Bush's daughters were left alone until the went out and drank and got kicked out of countries 9Chelsea Clinton would have been trashed but she laid low)but I agree should be left alone.Palin exploited her own kids so much I felt she had it coming - again, my opinion.
bnfox 2 years ago
We have to agree to disagree on this part.
bertly71 2 years ago
bertly71 - as far as Obama's foreign and domestic policies - frankly I don't think they effective now and i'm afraid they won't be with more time, either. Most real economists say the meltdown (worse to come)cannot be stopped no matter what anyone did - I agree with that but will add that Obama's choices have made all worse - but all the blame doesn't go to him - much is tired economic thinking from his lame appointments. His foreign policy - exactly the same as Bush and equally failed.
bnfox 2 years ago
Agreed. Same o same o.
bertly71 2 years ago
these decisions are made way before obama's attempt... they take into account so many factors, why blame obama for it ? idiot ! your ignorance is an epic fail !
Lust416 2 years ago
I don't blame him for it. I'm laughing at the pathetic speeches both he and Michelle-my-belle made that were all about THEM. I'm laughing at how the mainstream media all had Obamagasms over them and how the United States supposedly had it in the bag after such brilliant, empassioned pleas. Obama is inexperienced and clueless - clueless about America's standing in the world, about what make the country work and about how to be Commander-in-Chief.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
jtkirk - you want to see some pathetic speeches? Ya got 8 years of Bush's failed education on display. Your hatred of Obama is so strong you can't even think straight.
bnfox 2 years ago
Oh, you mean like Bush's address to Congress after 9/11, considered one of the 100 greatest speeches in history? Obama is trying to reshape America in his own socialist image. Give me, a free-market conservative, one good reason why I shouldn't hate that? Obama is a kid with a five-minute career. He doesn't know how America works and he definitely doesn't know how to lead.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
I admit Bush started out great...and then he blew it (probably listened to Cheney and friends too much.) Remember Bush's speech about "no nation building??" And Bush tried to remake America into his own brand of socialism - it was just OK with you guys because he's on of you.Remember how he got the medicare prescrip act - the largest expansion of the welfare state and socialized medicine in 50 years/ or how he 'socialized" fannie, freddie, and AIG???
bnfox 2 years ago
Fannie and Freddie were "socialized" from the start when Clinton created them. And I've made it clear that I didn't like everything Bush did and the prescr. drug plan tops my list. I said he was a good Commander-in-Chief.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
good commander??? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - pointless endless wars against a mythological enemy....
bnfox 2 years ago
do your homework - Clinton did not create Fannie and Freddie.
bnfox 2 years ago
I guarantee you that the yoke Bush put on us for AIG, Fannie and Freddie is a hundred times the liability that Obama put on us with GM, et al.
bnfox 2 years ago
Obama pushed for the "bailout" as hard as Bush did, and yes McCain as well. However the "bailout" of GM and Chrysler were just to get the government's hands on them when they inevitably filed bankruptcy. The "porkulus" package dwarfs anything Bush ever did including the funding of the war, and it's all Obama's.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
BTW, you may as well have it confirmed; I am among those who want Obama to fail. His plans spell the end of a free America as we know it. Someone who claims to have no political offiliation at all should be able to see that. If Obama fails, America, as it was founded, will succeed.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
Bush was clueless and a corporate lapdog and Obama is clueless and a corporate lapdog - what's your point?
bnfox 2 years ago
Bush already destroyed America and then handed a smoldering pile to Obama to finish off.
bnfox 2 years ago
No, that was Banking Queen Barney Frank.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
of course you want Obama to fail - neocons are always republicans first and Americans second.
bnfox 2 years ago
And you wanted Bush to succeed, did you? Yes, I wanted Obama to fail and I have to say, this was about as big as I could have hoped for. I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. I am still laughing. But we are really Americans first. That is why we want Obama to fail. If you were America first, so would you, dumbass.
duaneaj1 2 years ago
du-wayne - and you really believe your own bullshit, don't you? No, you are neocons first, dumbasses second, and Americans third.
bnfox 2 years ago
This is only an "epic failure" in your tiny little minds. You want to see an "epic failure" look back at yer bitch, Bush. Since you don't understand concepts, why would you know the actual meanings of the words you use??
bnfox 2 years ago
I take solace in knowing that there is only 20% of you dumbass neocon hillbilly neocon fucktards left in this country - the last disgusting remnants of a dead party.
bnfox 2 years ago
Yeah - that makes sense - 'we are Americans but we want the president to fail." let's see, you wanted Obama, Clinton,Carter, and LBJ to fail but you wanted Reagan, Bush, and Bush to succeed. What does that tell you?
bnfox 2 years ago
Not so much the president's failure, but his policies. And in order for the policies to fail, so mus the man. His policy failuers are America's success. Just like LBJ and Carter and Clinton, their failures were America's success. Carter failed and we got Reagan! That's a huge success!!! So, yes, I'm American first, even and especially it if means a loser president fails.
Note: It was an epic fail in Bamster's mind too. hee heee heee heee heee.
duaneaj1 2 years ago
du-wayne - sorry, didn't quite catch all that with your mouth full of neocon dick.
bnfox 2 years ago
I'm off to work but you go ahead and sleep in dreaming of 6 year olds and how to spend your unemployment checks. Don't get too drunk or you won't be able to post your bullshit all frickin day.
bnfox 2 years ago
duanedrain - Reagan was a failure, too - just like bush Sr and bush Jr - and all the presidents you mentioned, too. You just don't know it in your neocon fantasy world. And i repeat - you are republican first and American last.
bnfox 2 years ago
He's been running around for 9 months apologizing for this lousy country. No wonder the I.O.C. chose Rio!
Thanks Mr. President!
wedge4hire 2 years ago
more importantly, this shows once again that republicans are republicans first and Americans second. The olympics were lost to an AMERICAN city and given to a foreign country and the Republicans are happy because their hatred of, and the failures of, Obama are the most important things to them, even if it costs America...some "patriots..."
bnfox 2 years ago
No, we would have liked to see America get the olympics. On the other hand, we are happy when Obama's true effectiveness is put on display. You folks wanted us to lose a war over your hatred of Bush. Speaking of said war, Michelle-my-belle went on about her "sacrifice" to go to Denmark while Americans are getting killed in Iraq and Afghanistan while her husband "weighs his options".
Obama is the most important thing to Obama. He thinks it's all about HIM.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
I stand by what I said - for Republicans, the part is first and everything else is second. I'm no liberal but Republicans main goal is for Obama to fail - they have no other policies or ideas right now other than to undermine everything Obama does. I saw exactly the same tactics in the 8 years of Clinton. Republicans are a bunch of whiny, pathetic crybaby sore losers. You Dempublicans and Republicrats deserve each other. And the hamster wheel goes around and around.
bnfox 2 years ago
Stop listening to what you hear in the mainstream media. Conservatives have plenty of ideas on how to reform healthcare. Giving them airtime however isn't in the mainstream liberal media's worldview of Republicans being the party of "no". Obama is trying to ramrod Cap and Trade and healthcare "reform" down our throats during a recession. Both ideas are economic killers. So much for the "most transparent admin in history". Get your news from somewhere else than MSNBC, CNN, ABC, et al.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
I stopped listening to MSM years ago (noticed Faux news wasn't on your list) You should follow your own advice. I do however completely agree about your comments about Obama. But really no different than Bush - first time in US history that we had giant tax cuts (mostly for the wealthy) in wartime. I spread my disdain across the political spectrum and have no illusion that either party will solve any problems - they are both in the business of creating them.
bnfox 2 years ago
Do you really expect people to take you seriously using terms like "Faux News"? If you must know, I don't watch Fox News, even though they are the only ones who come anywhere close to reporting from the center. (Beck doesn't count. He's a editorialist.) The tax cuts got the economy going again and created more government income than was expected BEFORE they went into effect. "Faux News", "tax cuts for the rich" - Your left-wing is showing.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
As I suspected - you are all about mainstream news as long as it alligns with your preconceptions. And unlike you, I pick the best from all worlds while you toe the party line like a good little sheeple automaton.BTW - oh yeah - the economy was in great shape because Bush was so great - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
bnfox 2 years ago
The economy tanked because of the mortgage crisis, which was a liberal problem. 500 characters is not enough to explain it to you. However the lie that you are not a liberal and don't support Obama had been sufficiently exposed. Good day.
jtkirkfan2002 2 years ago
you really need to read more - you live in a neocon fantasy world. will delete any further of your turds that appear in my mailbox...

this is a wakeup call to you liberals who think obama is "loved" by the world. did you all think that it was going to be easy for obama to just show his face in denmark and IOC was going hand him the gold medal? did you libs really think that after obama was elected that he was going to reaffirm our "standing" in the world? the world thinks he's weak. he puts down our allies and sings kumbaya with the enemy. he's bashed america in speeches abroad, so why would the IOC even consider america?
blkconservativ 2 years ago
I'm from Chicago, born and raised, and you are right. Obama cut his teeth on corrupt politics. He got all his competitors, including his mentor State Senator Alice Palmer, off the ballot in his first primary. He did not believe the people needed a choice. He chose himself to be state sentator in 1996.
That is the Chicago Way.
rkoliver1 2 years ago
my thoughts are these - why is this SO shocking? Why did they feel it would have been down to Rio and Chicago? Why are they all is such shock?
Obama means NOTHING to Europe. They have NO vested interest in him.
I guess they're all racists huh?

I'm in ATL and you wouldn't believe how cheap it was to live here before the Olympics came. Property prices shot up instantly and never went down. I'm not sure exactly why, it raised prices here.
kake1776 2 years ago
You are 100% right. I only lived there for a few years - but the corruption is rampant and the city suffers for it.
They've got so many ex-Governors in jail they could build a jail just for ex-Gov's. Daley is the worst.
The crooks that get caught get replaced with new crooks.
The fact that Zero never once fought against corruption in that political environment - and in fact sought it out - speaks volumes.
dgroundhog 2 years ago
Well durn, sort of like a railroad tie to the head. If these Chicago crooks thought the rest of the world would go along with these bums...
joesphx19 2 years ago
i have to admit i was shocked to hear this, what went wrong?
It was Rio and Chicago as finalist, even the IOC president said that once.
jamed2catch 2 years ago
Zero's speech was all about him, his election, how bad everyone else was and how he was the answer.
It was extremely arrogant - and I think they just really got turned off by his self-importance.
That's really the only way to explain a 19 vote first round exit. No silver. No Bronze. That was a group of people who saw right thru his act.
dgroundhog 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Why do some see this as a victory against Obama? Surely, it would have been a good thing for you guys to have the olympics in the US. Los Angeles and Atlanta made big profits when they had the olympics. It gives a good boost to the overall economy.
kainedamo 2 years ago
Who wants to host the olympics in this economy. we used to make profiets but with the dems in charge and an idiot in the white house who knows nothing about the private sector. More evidence is the fact of more job losses shown today. Obama is no Mitt Romney. another thing is this. Chicago is known here for high crime and corruption. Oh yes we would love to show the world that.
45jacky 2 years ago 2
45jacky, well said!!! I do not want the United States to host the Olympic Games in this kind of economy. I have been to Chicago before and to me, it is not really a place to host one. Unemployment and crimes have skyrocketed in Chicago, Illinois. And obviously, Barack Hussein Obama is NO Mitt Romney. Romney was good in turning around the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Obama just made himself look like a fool in Copenhagen, Denmark.
FiREFLYSerenity408 2 years ago
People in Europe think of Al Capone when they think of Chicago.
rkoliver1 2 years ago
I live in Atl. After the Olympics, property values went up sharply, and never went down. I've heard almost always the Olympics bring a lot of debt to a town and it's a loss due to the amount of corruption involved.
I really didn't care about the outcome either way, but Chicago has enough of major problems right now that they need to focus on w/o bringing all that extra debt onto its citizens.
kake1776 2 years ago
One of Obama's cronies stood to make a mint by selling slum apartments to make way for olympic facilities. That was the main reason he wanted them, political payback.
