  • underhand grip will just give you a torn bicep

  • @DistortedBrain not for barbell rows, your biceps do not do the work.

  • @DistortedBrain correction: biceps are ur stabilizers, so not a great risk.

  • @DistortedBrain No it won't... that's like saying barbell curls will tare your bicep. While you're at it, why don't we just say going to the gym will ruin your body? I mean come on bud...

  • who the heck does underhand barbell rows?

  • @WhoIsNe under=lower part of lats

    upper=upper part of lats

  • This looks more like a yates row then the barbell rows i do. Yates ripped up his tendons doing it this way. Also, this workout only works your traps, if you do bent over rows, starting from the floor, you will work your upper, lower back, lats, and tris in addition to what this workout does.

  • squad is kind on total body work out follow by the squat idk if is true but thats what they say it works almost all your muscle groups to some degree acording to studies and is the best for mass building well at least thats what i have learn

  • squad is kind on total body work out follow by the squat

  • i dont like slow pussy workouts

  • Mike Colangelo made a mistake. He said gravity and momentum take the workout away from you. This is false. If you explode on the concentric it is only momentum that takes away the workout. Gravity doesn't help you LIFT the weight...

  • @tyciol I'd say he was ri

ght. Its much harder to control the downward motion than it is to just 'drop' the weight.

  • @tyciol I'd say he was right. Its much harder to control the downward motion than it is to just 'drop' the weight.

  • How do you do this with 80+ kg? It will break your lower back. I think you must put the barbell to the ground after each rep. Well, not all the way to the ground - it's too far, put something in between.

  • @deviantan021 no it won't. You work your way up to it. I used to have trouble doing 135lbs, now i can do 225.

  • @deviantan021 Anaerobic erector spinae endurance bro

  • these comments are hilarious

  • A bent over dumpbarbell row eh? Interesting.

  • My anorexic sister can lift more than that with her penis. I belive she grew one from horse supplements because its 8 foot long. P s i wouldn't bend over and arch my back in his gym ( a gromers work shop) as he would be up ya like a rat up a drain pipe.

  • The object of thee barbell rows is to gain mass! This so called trainer doesnt grap you need to put on some weight .using 5lb weights is for women..

  • @realestatefla1 ur dumb hes just trying to show form, he doesnt give a damn about weights in this video

  • @grow2slowly Right! I`m dumb and your a genius. He`s a man,not a women, at least put up a respectable amount of weight. His body isn`t at all impressive.Which leads me to believe he`s not into weights, nor should he be giving out advice about gaining mass! These sites are full of arm chair quaterbacks like yourself, who`s adgendas are different than most of ours and have little or nothing to do with BB!

  • @realestatefla1 please tell me u r from USA, u fit all the sterotypes....ahhhh the ignorant assumptions and "must be tough guy to be a true man" attitude....a pity

  • @grow2slowly My Lord! Just one of many mooks who cruise these sites in hopes of finding a BF. It`s hard to grasp why some of these fudge packers insist on pretendingto be straight, when in reality they`re queer...

  • @realestatefla1 MY LORD, ur proving my point with every additional word write, give it up old man

  • @grow2slowly

And how the fuck do you know are you his spotter/lover. The geezers as gay as they cum, gays cant pick up more than 5 kilos FACT. Unless its thier man bag or a big black cock.

  • @bobhils i think i just found the most ignorant child on youtube.

  • @bobhils Oh i see thats your game looking for children on you tube to groom well i tell you what buddy this child aint for turning the other cheek. And how am i ignorant you toe nail clipper everybody knows gays are weak. Look at this gay for example he is picking up 2 pounds LMAO.

  • underhand grip? i always use the overhand grip. am I doing it wrong?

  • @jamesykt69 No you're not, overhand grip focuses more strain onto your forearms versus an underhand grip focusing more on your biceps. It is just personal preference.

  • @Ohjjin im so used to doing overhand grip, but today funnily enough is back day, so i might try underhand on my warm up lifts just to see if i can get used to it. Cheers for the reply

  • Because that is how he does it you moron. Asking people to keep in mind that YOU, a random fucktard, prefer an overhand grip is ridiculous. Why the hell would we care what you think works for you? Why would we want to keep what works for you in our minds?

Try structuring your sentences a little better to communicate what you mean. You'll look like you know something.

I love how you still have no idea what the point was. It's funny.

  • >15 repetitions

    lol'd

  • Lifting like this guy (up to your chest) works out the back of your shoulders. Lift up to the lower part of your stomach, thats when your really working your lats.

  • I find that when I do rows with an overhand grip I get a good forearm exercise as opposed to biceps when doing an underhand grip. Just something to keep in mind

  • @Ohjjin Keep in mind that YOU get better form? Why would we keep that in mind? You mean you're telling us you get better form so we need to do it also to do it properly?

You find you run better on your heals or forefoot? We need to know so we can know what's best for us. We can keep in mind Ohjjin finds different grips better for HIS form, so it's best for all of us.

  • @mcallen83 He blatantly makes a point in the video that an underhand grip activates the biceps more. My point is that an overhand grip focuses the forearms more, hence if you wanted to work one over the other you can simply change your grip.

    Good job, you're a dumbass.

  • @Ohjjin By the way, the words blatantly and makes a point don't belong in the same sentence. Again, learn to communicate. So he emphasized that he makes a point?

We all know an overhand grip is an option. Everyone knows that. But why do we need to keep in mind that you use it? We don't give a shit you tool.

  • @ozzynirvana666 no they are different. you should do both

  • lol his name JUST CAN'T be as cheesy as mike colangelo

  • This exercise sucks if you haven't done it before...even more so if you haven't worked on your lower back.

  • Why is it that everyone thinks they are a trainer and can comment about "proper form." Here's an idea, post a vid and we'll judge you on your form ;)

  • @captainconrizzle well the most of these people do not work out. i say if you are in a comfortable form where you won't get injured and get a good workout it is the perfect form for you.

  • @ratherunique870 i would completely agree. well said

  • @captainconrizzle this guy is really bunt over. Is this good form i dont know, im looking for new deltoid/back workouts

  • @Dii4I3Lo I'm not an expert, but I have found that many forms of this workout work for me. If I do lighter weight, I typically bend over more like shown in the video and focus on form. However, whenever I use heavy weight, I am usually at about a 45 degree angle and tend to swing the weight slightly on the contraction. It really depends on what feels comfortable to you. As long as you keep your back properly aligned, the rest is what feels right for you.

  • @captainconrizzle If u think someone has to be a trainer to know what good barbell row form is then you are horribly confused lol...

  • @RSixBoy Never said that you HAVE to be a trainer to know good form, but sick of seeing everyone posting negative comments saying "you're doing it wrong, etc." Don't read so much into comments lol...

  • hands in, hands out. do both. slightly different variations. i was told a while back, that as a tall person, i would benefit more from a wide grip (and i have found this to be true)

  • His form isn't that bad. Underhand rowing is supposed to target the lower lats more and overhand rear delts and middle traps I think. I think overhand is better over all though.

Form just depends on how flexible ur hamstrings are, if they where really flexible then u could employ perfect form how ever most of us arnt that lucky.

  • @monkeybus4uk Underhand grip incorporates the biceps in the barbell row. This enables lifters to use extreme amounts of weights as the biceps assists the latissimus dorci in completing the lift.

  • E how sucks so bad

  • this is a terrible video. do not row like this

  • @bmansour19, anyone can link a video of how to properly row?

  • look up a dorian yates seminar where he demonstates it, he uses perfect form and explanations

  • Keep the elbows close to the ribcage, so in.

  • underhand grip- in

    overhand- out

  • LOL, that is NOT a bent over barbell row. That is a variation of a Yates Row, using an underhand grip.

  • I know this works the back but what specific part of the back? and that other muscle groups does this work?

  • How to train the low back ?????

    Some Vids PL !

  • deadlift

  • THX BRO !

  • Comment removed

  • Deadlifts...or hyperextension..

  • bent over dumbumbarbell rows??

    loll

  • do you keep ur back arched or just straight? When i keep my lower back rly arched its harder on lower back for me

  • this is more biceps not back

  • better to use an overhand grip especially if you are using heavier weights...Yates rows can cause torn biceps...Yates tore his biceps doing these with heavy weights.

  • THAT IS YATES ROWS.....

Bent over rows with supinated grip = Yates rows..

  • What is the difference if you use the Yates Row, or if you perform the row with the non-supinated grip?

I have been doing my Rows with the supinated grip because I can use more weight. Should I change it to the other grip? And if I do what will it improve?

    TIA!!!!

  • He's doing the bicep grip.. also called Yates rows..

He's NOT demonstrating the bent-over barbell rows..

  • I've seen it called barbell rows with a supinated grip. Hits the lats harder while the normal row hits the scapula area right?

  • Sorry bro, you're doing it wrong. 45 degree angle is needed; your advice is going to lead to injuries for your viewers.

  • his form is right but he needs to use overhand grip to work the back muscles more

  • Yeah, no one bends this far over. The lower back is just too vulnerable even with the back straight.

Most pros are almost upright, or around 70 degrees, when they barbell row.

This guy hasn't got a clue.

  • i wouldnt do it the way this guy is doing it

  • Michaelangelo is a partydude!

  • thank you!!

  • That's not a 45 degree angle... And a complete beginner would pick up the weight the same way they see that he does - with a rounded back o_O JUST SAY NO TO ROUNDED BACKS!!!

  • that looks like a pendley row dont it

  • he's holding it weird..

  • yeh i use overhand grip...

  • yes his grip is wrong way round...i have realised this "expert village" ...seem to know fuckall..i was watching their skull crushers and dumbell pullover and both them were being performed wrong too....what going on at that "village"......they are fuckin taking the piss..more like "cunt village"

  • that grip is more for biceps actually so its legit but why teh fuck is he holding his back so high. but yeah expert village is shit mate

  • does anybody know if you can use dumbbells instead of barbells? is there a big difference? i'm new to lifting..sorry.

  • Yea, you can use dumbbells. The major difference is it's tough to keep your balance when you're using two dumbbells while bent over, so most people use a dumbbell to perform one-handed rows (with the knee opposite your targeted arm resting on a bench). Just look up "One-arm dumbell rows."

  • Agree - I do the overhand grip because it is a lot more beneficial to the back.. if you use an underhand grip you may as well just be doing some bicep curls cos it it will work your arms more than back.

  • Non Bodybuilders SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING THIS! THIS IS WRONG FORM!!! Stupid Bastards!

  • You ignorant...

  • No, he's right. Using an underhand grip can tear your biceps.

  • Only if you're performing yates rows

  • Hardly.

  • anything will rip any muscle if enough force is applied. that is where common sense and moderation come into play. don't do more than you can handle. you never need to work with so much weight that you rip a muscle trying to strengthen another different muscle group.

  • hey does it matter if your palms are facing you or facing away?

  • a reverse grip (palms facing away) will hit your lower lats.

  • Oh so i should probably do both right?

  • yes I would reccomend focusing mostly on regular grip because it hits your over all back better+ gets your upper lats wide, but it is good to incorperate reverse grip in some excersizes.

  • Ya right now my week schedule is mmonday biceps triceps, tuesday back which is this, wednesday shoulders, forearms, but it seems that the only thing getting bigger is my upper lats, do you know why?

  • just make sure you get a good variety. I do wide frip pulldowns, bb rows, t-bar rows, db rows, and a cable row, finished w, deadlifts that hits all angles. check out my vids.

  • Make sure you're getting some deadlifts in. It's not specifically a back exercise, but most people do it on "back day." When I started doing deadlifts more consistently I noticed my back growing in thickness almost immediately, and it actually helped improve my other lifts.

  • deadlifts are primarily for lower back, am I wrong

  • Deadlifts definitely work your lower back, but if you're doing them correctly is the closest thing to a complete body strength move you'll ever find. The only rival to the deadlift as far as total muscles activated is the squat.

  • @NidisListenstoShit You failed to mention the power clean and press. That is by far the superior of the deadlift and squat.

  • @InferiorThanYou the clean and jerk builds explosive power while deads and squats builds raw strength and mass. While they are greatest exercises to do, they have different purposes.

  • @RSixBoy

even if you do slow controlled movements you train your muscles to be explosive. Theres no such thing as working your muscles for explosiveness and slow strenght.

  • @Elwood19901 who ever said anything about the "slow strength"...? The point is power cleans build explosiveness.

  • @NidisListenstoShit lol? ever head of the clean and jerk? how the fuck did you 20 thumbs up <_<

  • @NidisListenstoShit The squat wouldn't do much for your arms. Overhead squat maybe. The olympic lifts are much more 'complete body' than the power lifts.

  • Yes, it does matter. You'll find that it's harder when your palms are facing towards you. IMO it's the better way.

  • yeah when u use under hand it puts a bigger impact on the biceps
