im sure no one was complaining about how dirty the raiders were in the 70's but then again, thats when hitting the quarter back was ok. HORSECOLLARS are much more dangerous than this play. I don't hear anyone crying about that. Such a joke, everyone is becoming so sensitive over things like this that have been part of the game since face mask's were introduced. Lions players get face masked to incase anyone is wondering.

Actually, Suh is not a fat ass... he is under-sized for his position. And true Delhomme was the quarterback on a team that went to the Super Bowl 2 years after going 1-15, but I would say that he wasn't as instrumental in that season as though. I mean.... Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl with the Ravens..... It's all about who is surrounding the quarterback on both sides of the ball rather than just the quarterback

I'm a Browns fan...I didn't like it, but I don't think Suh was trying to hurt him. I think he is really trying to get some highlight reel tackles, that is, throwing QBs around like he did to McCoy. If he really wanted to hurt Delhomme, we would have also fell down on top of him as he threw him to the ground. He didn't do that....he wants nothing more than to make that highlight reel.

It was an unintentional face mask. nothing more. It was a rough play he tried to make delomme fumble, he didn't know delomme already lost the ball. The NFL shouldn't do anything to punish Suh.
You can grab the facemask if you also grab part of the shoulder pads/jersey with the same hand and motion. It is in the rule book EX: first round of NFC playoffs 2010 Cardinals CB grabbed Aaron rodgers face mask on the last play of the game but it was not an illegal face mask.

But If delhomme fumbled the ball when suh threw him and there was no face mask there would be no penalty, there would be no discussion. I am not biased I just know the rules. Sometimes in football there is a rough play.

@Lambo112131 for years unintentional facemask was a 5 yard penalty and intentional face mask was a 15 yard penalty. The NFL didnt like this rule because they didnt think players should be penalized for unintentional ticky tack face masks. in 2008 they changed the rule so that even if a player gets a ticky tack unintetional face mask there would be no penalty. and all face mask penalties under the new rule would be 15 yards. Don't tell me I don't know the rules.

It was definitely unnecessary but you can see in the video that he does let go of his grip on the mask before he throws him to the ground. Not sayin it's right but it is football and at least he didn't keep holding onto it when he threw him down.

@Chriscjs hey chris i think a play suh should be suspended for is the play last year where a guy on punt ran full speed and tackled the punt returner before the guy got there, he was sent to the hospital and the tackler got a one game suspension, he is a rookie and when you been double teamed after play after play and you get a shot at the qb he released all his anger, i am a former college football lineman

I hope you realize that this isn't just a penalty when done to a QB but rather any player on the field. Not only that but this has been a penalty since the 60's/70s. I doubt that many of the people who talk about how soft the NFL is getting even remember a time when tackling by the facemask is legal.
