The Big Bad Bruins were a staple in our homes. Our town formed its own teams on all levels. The only ice times we were able to get was early morning. I mean 2AM early! Friends would come together to watch the BBB skate. We loved the pre-game and post- game shows with that kick ass music. The BBB had there own kick ass music Nut Rocker ( B Bumble and the Singers) that just pumped up the crowd. Cheevers mask and skating out to the blue line, Orr breaking away and pouring on the speed, Mckenzie Sa
this team was an amazing hockey team but they were also a very tough team and since then have always produced great fighters neely bouque thorton lucic taz the spaz whats also shocking Bobby Orr is one of only 3 players to score 100 goals in a season

What a great video. Thanks to a great guy, Phil Castinetti owner of Sportsworld, we were able to meet every Bruins Cup player over the years. If you collect sports memorabilia you will love his store in Saugus, Mass.... thanks for the vid!
All Boston Bruins Stanley Cup teams have one thing in common: they played for the love of the game. 5 Cups, 5 different teams but still special memories! Orr was the best of the bunch, followed closely by Esposito, Schmidt, Shore and Bucyk.
Derek Sanderson always had a cigarette in his mouth in the dressing room after the game. Johnny Bucyk had a cigar! You see players today after a game and they're riding a bike! ZZZZZZZZ. The whole Bruin team used to go to a bar when the game was over. Most of them didn't make a lot of money. They played for the love of the game. Now the league is run by lawyers with no hockey background, and the players, even fourth-liners, are millionaires. It's not a game anymore, it's a business.
Well, the game has changed again and now those fourth and third line millionaires are no more. The majority of payroll is dedicated to three or four player in today's, post-lockout world. However, you are right about the players of yesteryear. Those guys played so that they didn't have to go back to the farmes, mines and small towns. The lure of the big-time lifestyle in the pros was more than enough to make the boys dream of a life with a hockey stick in their hands instead of a shovel.
Somewhat true. The Leafs just signed Jeff Finger to a $3.5M/year contract! Friggin' unbelievable! There is an adjustment happening though, and I hope the cap goes down next year and the trend continues. It turns my stomach to think of the kind of money Alex Ponikarovsky makes, when Gordie Howe played for $45K a year, and Phil Esposito, even after his 76 goal season in 70-71, spent his summer working at a steel mill because he needed the money.
I don't think anyone really has a grasp on what exactly the Leafs are trying to do. That includes the people at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. The signing of Finger is a little puzzeling but to be fair to the Leafs, I suppose that they need some experience to fill out the roster. However, there did not appear to be a market for Finger so the price tag seems a little high. Finger will likely play somewhere in the 2 to 4 d-positions. With that in mind I guess the contract makes sense.
Esposito is such a phony, the Bruins didnt care about him after he got old and slow and they never gave him a post-career coaching job, like the rangers and other teams did..
You don't know Espie very well, do you. IF you did, you'd know that he's consistently said that A) he always thinks of himself first as a Bruin, and B) that he drew strength from wearing the Bruins black sweater. Espie ain't no phony. You are, for making such an uninformed comment.
espo was interested in the $ as in money, he hated harry Sinden and said how cheap he was.. the ranger payed him more than he ever would have gotten with the bruins..he wants to be remembered as a bruin because he won 2 cups there

That's right and the Rangers for all their millions were LOSERS and still are! Fourth liner Ace Bailey beat them in "72. Ha Ha!

I like Espo's comment about always considering himself a Bruin. It sucks listening to these money-loving punks who play today
