You know Sting maybe the only american professional wrestler who has never signed with the WWF/WWE but I heard that the WWE maybe considering having a WCW Hall Of Fame to even though that once before WCW had a Hall Of Fame back at Slamboree 1993 and if WWE has one Sting should definitely be inducted into it.
@thetakeris4ever Are you talking about his current style facepaint? The black and white one or this one? For the current one, he was inspired at least somewhat by Eric Draven from The Crow film series.

@boru25 right now they (media organizations) arent recruiting real journalists. they are recruiting models and actresses and feeding them what to say through wireless mics. Its deplorable.
that deathrow guy had a HUGE gut. wtf was he doing in the ring with sting? lol. it look like a match that was supposed to booked in a gym. wtf? haha how is that guy ever going to make sting look good?
shes not the production crew. shes probably not aware of what clip they played. they probably told her they were going to play that clip then force to change it. or perhaps it was a Freudian slip.
an answer to your last question, i wouldn't be surprised if it was mark henry, LOL you saw how huge that gut was? might as well been mark henry. at least mark's fat is proportioned.
there's a few things i know, and this i know for sure, if ANYONE EVER said that i would be a good fit with a sexual offender like gary glitter, even this interviewer, on national tv, i would CHOKE A BITCH!!!!
i used to watch wwe raw on friday nights, my best friend used to watch wcw nitro which was aired at the same time at 10pm.... but this wasnt till around 1998
she probably just meant that he was a badass in the ring. when interviewers talk to ufc or boxing guys, they always refer/introduce them as "bad boy" whether they be a guy like holyfield, or a guy like tyson, ric flair, or sting. just a common way to introduce an athlete in a "combat sport" i guess.
In Indonesia, back then Wcw was far more bigger than wwf.. people tend to watch wcw than watch wwf..especiallyfor this guy... No kids in indonesia in my generation 80's who didnt know sting...he is the best wrestle ever..
Not that it really matters but STV used to show NWA programmes in the late 80's. I can recall watching The SST, Road Warriors, Ric Flair, The Midnight Express, The Andersons, Sting, Lex Luger, Tom Zenk, Flyin Brian Pillman, The Great Muta, The Steiner Brothers and Doom facing of against jobbers.
When was Sting ever the heel ? I can only think of one time that they tried to turn him heel and people just didn't care, he was still treated as a face. I don't know about TNA, because I stopped watching wrestling a few years back.
Yeah, that was the first time Sting was a heel, in WCW near the end of it's life. People cheered him even though he was "bad" and that caused Sting's very quick face turn afterwards. The second time Sting was heel was in TNA when he was in the Main Event Mafia. Now that he's out of MEM, Sting is face once more. Honestly, Sting can't be a heel. he's too likable. Hulk Hogan too. Hollywood Hogan in WCW worked, but if he tried it again these days, no one would believe it.
@levisufc yh that was the only time i actually saw wcw when it still existed, i was in a travelodge and it was on channel 5 and it musta been when it was really shit because i didn't know wat the fuk was going on
@levisufc Yea. Back in '98, Nitro would run on TNT from 9-11, and Raw on Sky Sports from 10-midnight. The typical friday night routine for every kid I knew was to get a load of munchies from the shop after school, tune in for the first hour of Nitro, jump over to Raw, jump back to Nitro during the Raw breaks in the 10-11 hour... then watch the Fantasy Channel's 10 minute freeview when Raw finished at midnight. Friday nights in the UK were great as a 12 year old.
I am talking about the black guy in the match. wcw always had some jobbers that wrestled maybe once or twice sometimes. I wanted to know who deathrow was, because I never seen this jobber.
Wresting Promotions used to have their top stars wrestle "enhanced talent", i..e. jobbers on television and save the qualtiy matches for the Arenas and mjor cards.
Interesting that Sting mentioned the WWE's theatrics and showmanship in a negative light when that storylines are essentially what is responsible for McMahon's defeat over the WCW.
I dunno, it wasn't until WCW started getting shown on ITV over here that I was even able to see wrestling, too poor to get SatTV back then lol but before I got a taste of WWF Sting was my favourite.
I'm with ya on that one mate. My parents were too poor to get sky so the only chance I got to watch wrestling was saturday afternoon wcw on itv. Sting was my fav also. I went to the wcw tour in 1993 and shook Bull Dogs hand lol
You are wrong very wrong. WCW was massive in the UK and even used to get higher ratings during 1998. because some kids didnt have skyn the only chance they got to see wrestling was Saturday afternoon wcw on itv. And wcw did massive UK tours in 1991 and 1993 selling out massive arenas up and down the UK. Also wcw toys were alot cooler than wwf toys.
Nah, you're talking balls mate. WCW was never popular in the UK. It was only on ITV for about 6 months and was swiftly axed, if I remember. WWF was dead by 1998 so I'm not surprised WCW had higher ratings on TNT. I was talking about 1988 - 1993, when this interview took place.
I will correct you on this one, WCW was on ITV from 1991 - 1995 and was on Channel 5 from 1998- 2001. You may not like WCW but you are wrong to say it was not popular in Britain, it was very popular among children and I remember it being talk of school on Monday mornings.
Yeah, in the graveyard slot. It lasted on Saturday afternoons for (approximately) 6 months in 1993 before being summoned back to the 2am slot. That's how popular it was! Relative to the popularity of the WWF, WCW and Sting weren't popular in Britain during this period. End of chat.
When you consider that even in the graveyard slot WCW probably pulled in more viewers than WWF which in the early 90s had about 500,00 subscribers at most compared to 60 million with access to ITV, then WCW was obviously more watched and popular
WCW was popular I grant you that but it was not bigger than the WWF in the UK in the early 1990s. WCW did perform a few house shows in the UK that had decent attendences but the WWF sold out Wembley Stadium 80,000 people for Summerslam 1992 something no WCW card could have done. The irony is WCW was more popular in Britain in the early 1990s when it was naff than it was in the late 1990s when it was amazing. However Nitro was still the 3rd most watched show on Sky behind Raw and football.
WCW Monday Nitro on TNT never beat WWF Raw on Sky Sports. WWF Raw pulled in very strong ratings beating every thing bar football on sky from 1998 to 2003. Even now it does very well. Most hardcore fans watch/tape the 2am live showing these days.
WCW was popular in the UK yes, I used to watch it myself. However it has never been bigger than the WWF. Where as WCW did some successful tours in 1993 they didnt do the business the WWF did. Summerslam 1992 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium no WCW could have draw that. WCW in 1997 and 1998 was massive on TNT UK, however it never beat Raw once in the UK wars. I watched both Nitro and Raw so have no bias.
@Apoktite yeah i know what you mean, i myself wish wcw was still on tv, because i think in my oppionion would still be number1 in the rating and i also think that when Vince Mc Mahon could of kepth the show running and he would be twice as rich as he is now
Wow, that is really classic stuff there. I find it interesting that she brought up the idea of WCW vs WWF so early in the rivalry. Too bad when it did happen over twenty years later, the writers were overwhelmed and messed it up, heh.
yh well im guessing im older than u im 21 and i was like 7ish wen wcw was on itv wen sting, ric flair were the main guys hogan was still in wwf at the time
totaly agree, wwe dont care what gos down aslongs as they all get pay checks, bu i watched wcw since i was 4, all the way untill it went off the air. tryed to get into wwf but it just didnt happen, think god for wcw ppv vhs's!
Death Row, Stings opponent is one Scary Oiled up black guy!!! I think if I saw death row coming at me all oiled up like that I'd cry!!! Wow this lady had no idea what she was talking about!
What were you, five years old in the nineties? WCW always had better wrestlers, and better wrestling than WWF. And for a WWE fanboy to be calling Sting arrogant -- now, that's funny.
I'm from Britain. I'm a huge wrestling fan, more specifically Sting fan and I think that this interview is basically a shamble. And a Gary Glitter reference that's disgusting. It really is.
I'm from Britain. I'm a huge wrestling fan, more specifically Sting fan and I think that this interview is basically a shamble. And a Gary Glitter reference that's disgusting. It really is.
UK Media didnt have a clue about American Wrestling at the time. 20 years on and now people like Jonathan Ross (who interviewed the Rock) know exactly about the background of Wrestling.

Wow, that is really classic stuff there. I find it interesting that she brought up the idea of WCW vs WWF so early in the rivalry. Too bad when it did happen over twenty years later, the writers were overwhelmed and messed it up, heh.
steveviscious89 3 years ago
20 years later......lol more like 8 or 9
smudgeVIW 3 years ago

True WCW fans will remember the days of WCW on ITV
ChadBischoff 3 years ago 3
Indeed WCW Pro at about 3am, and then Worldwide was on Central at 4pm on saturday for years!
I think it actually stayed running on Central until about 1996, because they showed Malenko and Benoit matches from Saturday Night.

WCW in the 90's had far superior wrestling compared with the WWF. Real wrestling fans watched WCW.

Came across as an arrogant arsehole if you ask me and WCW in the 90s was boys!!!
Real men watched and wrestled in the WWF
NigelHKR 3 years ago
He was trying to stay in character.
Everyone knows that wcw had better wrestling and wwf had the theatrics... what do you think little boys like better?
mexxa84 3 years ago 6
What were you, five years old in the nineties? WCW always had better wrestlers, and better wrestling than WWF. And for a WWE fanboy to be calling Sting arrogant -- now, that's funny.

I'm from Britain. I'm a huge wrestling fan, more specifically Sting fan and I think that this interview is basically a shamble. And a Gary Glitter reference that's disgusting. It really is.
seanfreer 3 years ago 5
This is about 6 years before they found out Gary Glitter was a paedophile, I don't think she knew that at the time ;)
Shevchenkowen 3 years ago
Yeah, TV-AM stopped broadcasting on New Years Eve 1992, so this is years before people knew Garry Glitter was a nonce.

UK Media didnt have a clue about American Wrestling at the time. 20 years on and now people like Jonathan Ross (who interviewed the Rock) know exactly about the background of Wrestling.
