@iDiOtShOwBaG i imagine by doing that you would be telling windows to allow them to work even though there might not be enough power available for them, so depending on the devices they might not work correctly, crash or brake, i wouldn't force it too much, and never connect more than one thing to the keyboard, to be sure.
This trick made a 498mA tablet work connected on the keyboard, so i'm my case i'm definitely not connecting anything else at the same time.
Normally a USB port only provides 500mA. On Mac, it looks like some ports provide 1000mA, so on Mac I think you can use two ports at the same time. If you are not using those kinds of Mac, 500mA is all you can use. Since the keyboard is specifying that it uses 20mA, you have actually 480mA, I guess. A USB device should report their power requirements when they are connected to hub, and as far as I know, if the power requirements are not met they wouldn't work.
It worked. My system is Windows 7 64bit. At first it didn't work, because I edited the wrong entry. There were several entries that had "Port_#000X.Hub_#000X". You have to KEEP SEARCHING till you find the key which has "000000000000" subkey!
Actually changing the description name as this person helps to make sure that you are editing the actual one. After editing ForcePortPower, unplug/plug and do scan for hardware changes. Mine worked! Thank you.
Worked Great! It might be better for someone having problems to search for the Hardware ID of the keyboard instead of the Location. I had multiple devices registered with that USB location. I got it narrowed down though. Thanks so much!
This didn't work at first for some reason, but I just unplugged the keyboard again and then I was set! Great tutorial! I've always wanted be able to plug USB-sticks and chargers into my keyboard :)
Hey. After much trouble i eventually managed to change the device name to Apple Keyboard Hub but whatever i do i cant up the power to 500mA. Im running Windows XP, any ideas what im doing wrong? :)
Hey MSC I really like the video it's exactly what i need to do for the new apple keyboard on my pc.
Although I believe iv'e followed your video to the letter but I get absolutely no change to my keyboard hub nor does it show the Apple Keyboard Hub when I change the device description.
I'm running Win7 64bit. I would appreciate any help i can get as I'm out of ideas.
@JPendlebury21 Odd. You sure you're looking at the right USB hub in the registry editor? Have you tried searching it again to see if it comes up with any other entries?
thanks it helped me a lot! :D

Thanks a lot! I had to edit CurrentControlSet in windows 7 x64 to get it to work though!

Worked perfectly!
Although, be VERY CAREFUL when you search for your Location Information in regedit.
When I kept searching, I got more results in subfolders for "ControlSet002" and "CurrentControlSet"
Make sure you are editing the folder that has 00000000000 and is in "ControlSet001"
The 001 is important.
ps. How bad can it be connect two 500 ma devices?
