That makes him self-proclaimed martyr and annoying. He and Lulu ultimately have the same goal. Lelouch offers partnership to him many times (ep 26: L: Let's work together! S: YOUR EXISTENCE SHOULD BE ERASED...[similar to the words the king told Lulu when he was young, ouch]).

Axlar, I don't know a more fitting song for code geass. It is about ZERO making a new world in which his sister can live. That is one of the reasons the anime ends at the moment ZERO is killed.
