  • Dude! This is F_C_ING KILLER! I had one question for you. Do you use Nvidia or ATI? I have two ATI HD 5770's and one Nvidia GTX550 Ti . I heard Nvidia is the way to go, but I'm really not sure. What is your preference & take on this? Thanks, and really dig the setup! Rock on. J.

  • Hello all, could someone please tell me what theme he using? I like this moon theme

  • How did you get individual wallpapers? Or is that one stretched over both? Either way how did you do it?

Because it doesn't look like you're using Xinerama. I'm guessing it's just a multi-display desktop configuration?

  • @xelasha Its just a big wallpaper. No I don't use xinerama.

  • @prodigoislinux

That is a massive wallpaper. How did you stretch across both screens? Or is your xorg configured to see both monitors as one?

  • @prodigoislinux Can you have one program open on one screen and then another one open on the other screen?

  • @guns511 Yes

  • DAMN MAN! nice setup !

  • @mknarr

  • Jesus fuck that is one sweet desktop. ^^

Must have taken you a while to get it set up.

PS you have earned another subscriber ^^

  • @DARKZAYCHAOS Thanks, well thats almost everything I've gathered for the last two years, but everyday we learn something new, in a free world everything is possible. Who needs windows, gates or jobs in a free world.

  • @prodigoislinux Yes I strongly agree. I was wondering how were you able to get the fire text in 10.4? Because compiz doesn't show it.

But yes screw microsoft and gates Ubuntu FTW =)

  • @DARKZAYCHAOS Well yes it does, everything is under compiz settings manager, fire animation, water, wobbly, and special animations everything..

  • @prodigoislinux, can you please make a tutorial or something to show me how to get Ubuntu to look like that...also have a question about RAM utilization for 32/64 bit versions because i am running 8GB RAM if I use the 32bit version will it still be able to fully utilize the full 8GB of RAM? sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but i am new to linux and i thought that maybe since the file system and so on is nothing like windows OS that the RAM utilization would also be different too. thanks

  • @Bluewater3684 Well first of all download the ubuntu 10.04 cd of installation and try it out, if you decide to install it, just search the internet for - the perfect desktop ubuntu 10.04, there tells for newbies how to get everything working easily, make when you get everything working just use compiz to get visual effects like the ones on the video, screenlet, cairo dock too...

  • windows who..? mac who....? i recently started using Ubuntu .... it is the power of anything that is possible

  • @damionabder Well said, I've been using ubuntu for almost two years now, just seek and learn, you can make anything work here.

  • And if you all think thats fast, using just one monitor its even faster. But I love having the two screens, more space to work...

  • Everything is possible on Linux, thats why I love it...

  • thats what i like about linux fast free and cool

  • @rick550 Definitly, I use linux as my main system practically all the time its been months since the last time I needed to boot my windows partition. Linux is everything you want on a system, its cool, works fast, you can do like 6 times what you do on windows, and without crashing or rebooting, my computer's been up for days on occations and working just fine. While burning discs, converting videos, music, browsing, editing, working at the same time without crashing..

  • thxs for you answers. i did install infpanel that you told me but it slow down my computer so much that it is almost imposible to use.

this is what i have. ( it say both core are to 90% when i run it)

    amd x2 phenom 2

    2gb ram

    gforce 9800 512mb ddr2

  • @gabakusa you are welcome, infopanel slows down your system like that but a few hints for the infopanel to run better, is to disable some of the info specially from the nvidia options, maybe turn nvidia off completly and see if that works better for you..

  • nice, what is ur hardware? is conky what u got on ur right monitor?

  • @gabakusa ---Thanks, am using a gateway with an AMD Phenom QUAD-CORE and 4 gb Ram, I also bought an Nvidia gt220 of 1gb of memory from Galaxy, and no thats not conky, personally I never liked conky because it slows the system, thats actually a screenlet called InfoPanel v0.9.4 downloaded from the eyecandy gnome page. and thanks for your comment.
