It is a part of the Paso but it is not essential for the man to use one. The lady is also able to portray the part of the bull or the cape. It depends on the choreographer and their decision

The music isn't spanish but the dance was. You can see plenty of paso doble moves in it and obviously the judges agree for they got a perfect score.

"kiddy 2010", the thing is the dancers on "so you think you can dance" are trained dancers, some are already pros. On this show, there's a pro and partner with most times no basic dance skills. It's therefore unfair to compare.

While I agree that some song choices suck, Drew and Cheryl weren't dancing the tango. They were doing the Pasa Doble...

...which, the way it is explained by Len Goodman, is perfect for this music with the staccato and forceful movements.

i meant to say pasa doble...all im saying is that it almost makes it a joke. i just like other dance shows (so you think you can dance, for instance) that pair traditional music w/ the dances...it gives the dances (especially one as serious and forceful as the pasa doble should be) a much more dramatic feel as opposed to the "campy-ness" of DWtS.

I'll tell you how good this paso was... I've found myself comparing every paso from this season to it. So far, all have fallen short.  I think it was the cape swirling at the beginning.
