  • Very nice! A few of my friends when i was a child lived in house boats and floating houses in Sausalito, San Francisco bay. its a very charming community there, with a 60s 'peace' mindset. Judging by the surroundings in this video, im going to guess this house boat is in Sausalito?

  • Love it! I applaud you, This is my goal to live simply so I can simply live!

  • I love that she painted the piling, too!

  • this looks like a great place to live! :)

  • GREAT videos and subject matter.I have always liked compact living areas.Hope to down size again from our present 1000 sq ft home.

  • I would hate to have to dust in there! =) Just beautiful though. Love the painted windows.

  • Perfect life.

  • The painted windows are a great touch!

  • Simplicity can be so rewarding !

  • This is my dream life. Fuck my NY apt. I'm leaving.

  • It's amazing you know...so many people are struggling these days because they don't know how to get by, and then you run into an amazing person like this who by using a very simple lifestyle has created a way to be truly content and happy. I applaud her, a great lesson for us all!

  • Interesting choice of colors throughout! I love it! Simple and Sweet. Wonder what her total monthly expenses amount to. Like, whats is cost to dock there? Just curious.

  • Just read it cost $12,000.00 a year for her to live. Not bad! Sign me up!

  • sounds like paradise

  • What would she do if she got sick? How would she pay for it?

  • @TheGreenSeaDotNet Hmm. Maybe rely on help from family/church? No idea really

  • I love these videos. It's just what I want - simple lifestyle. (:

  • Really cool! You go girl!

  • SHES ON A BOAT!

  • 12 dollars!!! I think I will do that.

  • Now that what loving life is :)

  • I could do this!

  • Awesome! I could enjoy that lifestyle. Now where would the lame stream media, corporations and the government be (that thrives in part upon reliance), if most Americans lived this way?

Life's too short to live in pursuit of money, things, and a status that for the most part, is geared towards making others think we're something more than our naked and possession-less bodies would reveal that we actually are.

  • Hello, I just discovered your Youtube portrait through the Yahoo News item. Nice! We have lots of floating houses where I live in Amsterdam in The Netherlands, but it's rare that I see a boat-home, and I have never seen one as cute as the one in your video :-)

  • Love this lifestyle! So relaxing and stress free!

  • Beautiful person and choice in an artists life. Doe any of your neighbors rent berths on their houseboats ? peace

  • What a beautiful home and peaceful lifestyle!

  • Very very nice. I love your life style, which is pretty close to how I live. But, a houseboat is great. Just enough room. I love your painting skills too. Very creative!

  • So Awesome!! I can only dream of when I move onto my boat soon!!!!

  • Oh, this is beautiful. The light is so amazing. Great video!

  • ugg, i'd go insane. i'd rather take my money and buy some land.

  • Wow! She's a live to live on $12,000 a year in San Francisco??? Amazong!! Thanks for featuring this!

  • love it! :) she seems like a very nice lady

  • I once lived on a wooden cabin cruiser with no motor for $60 a month on the miami River. The prevous residents painted every single surface with a diffrent high gloss color. We would wake up with the boat rocking and the river flowing by the window and fish jumping in the water. I never lived anywhere else where I felt more alive and connected with nature. This houseboat makes me homesick.

  • Wow! A beautiful lady on a beautiful boat. I like a lot of what I saw, some of it was a little overpowering, but the sheer creativity in it all was amazing. Can you imagine a writer in that boat - oh the results would be aweeeeeeeeesomeeeeeeeeeeee! The only thing I dont like is that I dont own it LOL!

  • Does she ever take the boat out on the water?

  • colors too bright, i liked the guys house boat more.

  • inspiring

  • To be rocked tp sleep again must feel very well.........

  • This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing this dream!

  • Absolutely gorgeous and inspiring.

  • I love the colors and the excitement of her artwork. It's beautiful.

  • What a beautiful woman!

  • I was waiting for her to swear, and she did. I'm so happy for some reason.

  • So hip! :D

  • Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

  • My wife and I want to live on a boat. How does she get around the fact that many marinas in California do not want anymore live aboards?

  • like it before watching :)

  • Does she rent the boat dock space or can you actually a place to dock it? Fascinating.

  • OMG, she painted "rugs" on the floor! :D

    AWESOME! :)

  • What a refreshing experience it was, to see you meet such a creative person as Heather Wilcoxson. Thank you.

  • Glorious. Another inspiring video. Thank you Kirsten.

  • Use what you have...enough said. Very quaint. She seems very content and that's more than a lot of people can say because we always want more.

  • "Tiny"? We live on our 36 foot sailboat. This woman's boat has over twice as much floor space as ours.

I do love the idea though. Nothing like taking your living room to Catalina Island for the weekend. VERY inexpensive way to live, too. And the best part is that it belongs to you. No one can take it away. If you lose your job, you still have your home.

  • @tomperanteau you should invite kirsten to shoot you at your sailboat!

  • Wonderful!!! As always!

  • Great video!

    How does she earn money?

  • Thanks Kirsten.

How does the plumbing hook up work if the house moves with the waves?

  • Great creates!
