Poland was fighting both Germany & Russia at the same time on two fronts!!! An impossible task something the allies never had to do , if it wasn't for the brave Polish Pilots in the Battle of Britain and the 8th Army & Navy we would have been fucked!!! The Polish army never surrendered they fought in exile in Britain, Europe, Africa & the Middle East, after the war Polish forces were to help the Americans fight the Japs but the Hirosima bomb saved more needless lives.
Germany was getting tooled up for a modern war Britain, France & Poland were caught napping, when the British forces landed at Dunkirk they started to "dig-in" same as WW1 the old tanks etc were no match to fight a modern war!!! Germany attacked Poland from the west on the 1st Sept then Russia attacked from the East on the 17th Sept Poland was promised help from her allies but none was given!!! Without the help of the brave Polish pilots, Soldiers and Sailors we would have been overwhelmed.

When you look at matters, you will see that Chamberlain was temporizing as best as possible. Note the "Sitskreig" that occurred afterwards. The lesson is that one must always remain strong.

The only problem was not the training, or manpower, it was equipment. We had good equipment of our own but we lacked numbers of equipment. If you were more powerful than British empire, you could beat both. Poland was just as un-prepared as us, if you were prepared for war, then you wouldnt have had cavalry, but would have tanks.

We had Tanks - Vickers 6 Ton, 7TP, R35, not to mention large number of Tankettes, as for our cavalry, these guys were equipped with many anti-tank rifles and guns. Problem was also that we had dobuts ( justified ) that allies would intervene if Germans met no resistance until the Vistula River line so we spread our forces linearly along western, souther and northern border.
@mwillis1000 Also despite we had modern bombers ( PZL P37 Elk/Moose ) we didn't have them in sufficient number too, problem was also that we were just switching from PZL P11 fighters to P24 ( later used in Greece by Greeks ). We had some good designs... but not enough numbers. Try finding some info about our equipment, you'll see that with quality we matched Germans and France in some cases. Only quantity and partially old comms was the trouble.
We had the best heavy bomber of the war (Lancaster) and multi-role plane (Mosquito).

Well, we did everything we could, supplies would have been hard to get to Poland due to U-Boats and AA guns. And not enough fuel for planes to get their and back.

@mwillis1000 As for my knowledge about WW2, i spent some time in my life studying it. I know that in 1939 and in 1940 Britain had nothing that would give her any edge against even Poland. Hell i can even bet that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia would beat British in 1939. During fighting in 1940 Britain had no tanks that would even come closer to Panzer II ( in 1939 Poland had much smaller equivalent of it - TKS with nkm cal.20 ).

Pearl Harbor brought them into a war in the Pacific...Hitler declaring war on the US brought them into the European war...Something that Churchill knew was needed because Britain could not defeat Nazi Germany on it's own, militarily or industrially. As for the A-Bomb...When war broke out that was just an idea on paper. How the A-Bomb was used is debateable as is the bombing of Dresden. Though it's very easy to look back and judge.

Well now that's a good question. Mabye there are hidden papers still to be released from the archives at Kew. My guess is that Britain & France played a chess move thinking that Germany might well eventually invade the USSR. Then the USSR could be used to create an embryonic 2nd front which did serve well in the end to defeat Nazi Germany.
JG - It was totally impracticle for the UK and France to attack Russia. Don't forget that the UK and France were both to the West of Germany and Russia to the East; way out of range of aircraft at the time. And to take on both Germany AND Russia at the same time, whilst the UK and France were barely prepared for war would have been madness.

An impossible task something the allies never had to do , if it wasn't for the brave Polish Pilots in the Battle of Britain and the 8th Army & Navy we would have been fucked!!! Germany was getting tooled up for a modern war Britain, France & Poland were caught napping, when the British forces landed at Dunkirk they started to "dig-in" same as WW1 the old tanks etc were no match to fight a modern war!!! Germany attacked Poland from the west on the 1st Sept then Russia attacked from the East on the 17th Sept Poland was promised help from her allies but none was given!!! Without the help of the brave Polish pilots, Soldiers and Sailors we would have been overwhelmed.

britain, island or not, could not have managed on its own. the book "intrepid" outlines u.s. lend lease and also mentions (1) canada replaced the vehicles left behind by the brits at dunkirk FREE/GRATIS.(2) the only fully equiped army division between dover and london was the canadian 1st division (3) 25% of the RAF pilots were canadian.
the polish pilots did more than their share of shooting down german planes during the battle of britain-no numbers given on how many were aussies or kiwis.

@TheAriellupu The problem was that at that point it was too late. France & UK had not re-armed sufficiently to match the Nazi military force. When you look at matters, you will see that Chamberlain was temporizing as best as possible. Note the "Sitskreig" that occurred afterwards. The lesson is that one must always remain strong.

Dozens of german villages where purged, in the great polish cleansing, before germany could intervene.

Our cavalry could wipe your BEF without much trouble. In 1939 we had 1 million men called into service, you had smaller number.

B ( 40 mm gun ). You prefered instead tank for some 30 thousand pounds, cheap and weak.

@mwillis1000 We would have defeated Germans with French equipment easily, we had good commanders who unlike French or British understood modern Warfare ( Kutrzeba and Maczek and some others ). The only problem was not the training, or manpower, it was equipment. We had good equipment of our own but we lacked numbers of equipment. Otherwise we'd kick Jerries out of Poland and even retake more lands that weren't give us back after WW1.

We had good intel... before war e specially... we kept Jerries at an arms length when it came to intel, while we managed to get hold of their "Secrets" but what good it did to us if Britain and France allowed such goon like Hitler to stay in Power. He should've been arrested by allies right after he declared "Not a penny for reparations".

If you were more powerful than British empire, you could beat both. Poland was just as un-prepared as us, if you were prepared for war, then you wouldnt have had cavalry, but would have tanks.

@mwillis1000 As i told before it was matter of numbers of equipment for us. We had Tanks - Vickers 6 Ton, 7TP, R35, not to mention large number of Tankettes, as for our cavalry, these guys were equipped with many anti-tank rifles and guns. Problem was also that we had dobuts ( justified ) that allies would intervene if Germans met no resistance until the Vistula River line so we spread our forces linearly along western, souther and northern border.

@mwillis1000 Also despite we had modern bombers ( PZL P37 Elk/Moose ) we didn't have them in sufficient number too, problem was also that we were just switching from PZL P11 fighters to P24 ( later used in Greece by Greeks ). We had some good designs... but not enough numbers. Try finding some info about our equipment, you'll see that with quality we matched Germans and France in some cases. Only quantity and partially old comms was the trouble.

@mwillis1000 I dont know, maybe send supplies to warsaw, at least support us lol :D, my grandmother told me that polish army had to use weapons from germans and russians, we didnt have our own, but it was cool cus krauts had the best weaponry avaible in ww2, they could have won if the stg-44 was introduced few years before, fortunately they didnt and we all still speak different languages not german ;))

Well, we did everything we could, supplies would have been hard to get to Poland due to U-Boats and AA guns. And not enough fuel for planes to get their and back.

@mwillis1000 As for my knowledge about WW2, i spent some time in my life studying it. I know that in 1939 and in 1940 Britain had nothing that would give her any edge against even Poland. Hell i can even bet that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia would beat British in 1939. During fighting in 1940 Britain had no tanks that would even come closer to Panzer II ( in 1939 Poland had much smaller equivalent of it - TKS with nkm cal.20 ).

If anyone from UK claims that Poles "steal" jobs from British then I will say only few things: 1. First British became lazy and dependent on benefits. 2. Poles are much better educated and 100 times more competitive ( the 50% of Polis immigrants ), 3. Multi Culture societies are always heading for collapse. Sooner or later.

Pearl Harbor brought them into a war in the Pacific...Hitler declaring war on the US brought them into the European war...Something that Churchill knew was needed because Britain could not defeat Nazi Germany on it's own, militarily or industrially. As for the A-Bomb...When war broke out that was just an idea on paper. How the A-Bomb was used is debateable as is the bombing of Dresden. Though it's very easy to look back and judge.

Well now that's a good question. Mabye there are hidden papers still to be released from the archives at Kew. My guess is that Britain & France played a chess move thinking that Germany might well eventually invade the USSR. Then the USSR could be used to create an embryonic 2nd front which did serve well in the end to defeat Nazi Germany.

JG - It was totally impracticle for the UK and France to attack Russia. Don't forget that the UK and France were both to the West of Germany and Russia to the East; way out of range of aircraft at the time. And to take on both Germany AND Russia at the same time, whilst the UK and France were barely prepared for war would have been madness.

As if committing your country to major war for a foreign country because another foreign country invaded it wasn't enough. All that when Britain itself was not prepared for war. Then they complain that Britain let them down with the Yalta agreement forgetting that by that time it was the USA that really made decisions for the West...But they never seem to blame them for some reason.

Western countries declared war on Germany. 17.september 1939 Poland was attacked by Soviet Union. western countries did not declare war on Soviet Union...double moral??
