yea he is learning off the right man im from ireland and been fightin muay thai for 4 years i can see myself like that but nw with alot of traing and blood and swet, he will get there too, sloppy man lol i bet ur nt much better that lad prob better than i was startin off.
I am having kinda a hard time with my kicks they are slow but when they hit there is alot of power. how can I train my kicks for speed and still maintain my power.
I'm pretty sure he didn't mention anything about this guy being his most advanced student... you guys are complete idiots. most of you trolls wouldn't even last 15 minutes in any thai boxing gym
Awesome vid 2 questions one can u make more training videos like this and start putting videos ip on YouTube and two how can u do elbow conditioning like u would shin conditioning
I love these videos man, so much more detailed yet down to earth than other Thai videos, plus because I began practicing for self defence and fitness as opposed to competition muay boran appeals to me. Hopefully one day I can get over to train, in Scotland all Thai training seems to be either competition or MMA driven.
@whotookdonnierules I live in a place called Guam and I really want to dedicate myself to this!!! but we have no such school/academy If i stayed in your area for sure I would go for this!!! if only is all i could say and i wish
@BrazilianMMAKing Obviously? I think that has more to do with who is fighting, not the art itself. Nothing is ever the be all end all, no matter how much I or you would like to think it is.
@BrazilianMMAKing But what do you do when you get someone on the ground and they don't respect rules? They head butt, hair pull, eye gouge, maybe even bite you? Then a lot of ground game techniques and etiquette get thrown out the window. Nothing is ever black and white. It's hard to hold on somebody when they're twisting your fingers to break them. Just saying...
Donnie, I've been watching your videos for a long time. All i can say is, please i beg of you come to NYC in Brooklyn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have THE BEST Muay Thai videos i've ever seen in my entire life.
@AcidicBathWater Thank you Sir, I'm really glad you're getting something out of this. I'm doing a seminar in Orlando in December, but if you can generate enough local interest, I'd be willing to do something... but better yet, my girlfriend's sales territory is NYC, so i f I can tag along on a sales trip, I'll be happy to get together and give you some pointers/guidance.
Man.. Your videos are great. I was just looking for Muay Thai techniques since there isn't a Muay Thai school around where I live and I ran across your videos. They are great. I train in Taekwondo and Escrima, so I could ask them to help me out with the techniques you demonstrate. Thanks for uploading the videos.
this kid is pretty good but what what i noticed was on his switch kick (left kick) his plant kind of comes in rather than steping out and his balance is off so his kick isnt powerful or accurate...also (for both kicks) he does turn his hips over enough and utilize the power that a thai kick gets from the hips...i think once he corrects this his kick will be monstrous
Nice drill, Donnie. I like using the same drill with my guys as a way to get them to start thinking on their feet. It's also a nice way to find potentials and weaknesses among the students. Good job to your partner there too, I remember going through this drill as a new student and how much you're forced to deal with your own tendencies and what not. Add to that the fact that he was being filmed and he's still putting on a better show than I did just starting out!
horrible, donnie you almost lost me as a subscriber kuz of this :(, better vids bro your throwing leg kicks and the guy isnt even blocking and his kicks are ugly as hell doesnt lean back and block his face or anything sorry donnie i love you but not your friend :(
@mikee555 way to post an absolutely useless comment. The guy is obviously new and struggling to improve just like the rest of us... and you put him down for it? Nice. If you had stopped to take notice of the point of the video before trolling/wasting database space, you would have noticed the focus of the video was about the drill and not how cool these guys think they are.
@mikee555 Your negativity might have more weight to it if you posted a video response of yourself pointing out the flaws you saw, but judging by how many keyboard warriors youtube sees, I doubt you would/could.
@mikee555 leaning back makes you loose force first of all. i like to cut thrue and throw myself towerds them with guard up. when you lean back you loose power and if some one came at you in the middle of it your going down. its more balenced to lean but i prefer power. give the guy a break hes training and it takes much time to get use to fast actual interaction especialy if youv never been in a real fight. in time donnie will tech him more and better defense. i know couse i trained there.
@mikee555 give donnie a break, I know i'm not very good, which is why i'm trying to improve everyday. I can see a lot of terrible flaws in this video and I'm adjusting myself so that they become less common.
@xxzippyxx You guys have to remember that this kid had only been training for a couple months when we shot this. Trust me, his technique may have been a bit sloppy here and there, but his strikes cut through thai pads. He's bony and he can generate a lot of power. You can see that he actually tags me with a left kick at 1:12.
im sorry but theese kicks are terrible...

Don't drop your hands when you kick, just like your punches. Whichever leg you use, be sure to keep your opposite hand up
