so THATS " how the other half lives ! " I just typed the complete phrase in my utube search box ,and here I am . Is there lyrics for this piece of music ?? thankyou for the great music
By far, this is my favorite song of yours. It is extremely relaxing. All your music is. In fact, when I went up to Worcester, Massachusetts,we stayed in this old rickety victorian house, and to help me relax before I go to sleep, I listened to your music. *****
Thanks for answering my first question, but now I have another: how do you know what the note will be when you play on the other side? And once again, great tune. You might want to check out this song called "Rito" by Pino Forastiere; he uses the same technique.
Hey, thanks for telling me about "Rito". He makes really good use of the dissonant tones as well.
Knowing what notes are available on the other side isn't always obvious, but some points are predictable. Playing on the fret just above a harmonic point will always give you a "tonal" secondary note:
6th = 2 octaves above the open string
8th = 1 octave, plus a fifth
13th = 1 octave
Putting a regular capo across the 6th fret would be useful.
I'm sure other people watch and listen, I just probably do it more than they do haha! I really mean it when I say I listen to your music everyday. You're by far my favorite guitarist of any kind and I support you 100%, Bob. Keep up the good work!
Maybe you weren't around when I came up with it, but you gave me the encouragement to relearn it after all these years and finally make the video. I wouldn't be on YouTube at all if it weren't for my real other half!
A truly unique technique that no one has copied since and a great story behind it. The other side has some interesting timbres that make it almost sound far eastern.
Without seeing how it was done for a long time, when I heard the audio track of it I thought the title was referring to the 'other half' as your wife. Funny the images a misinterpreted title can conjure up!
This is really good, REALLY GOOD

I could be wrong, but I think that you are the first to play in this manner (behind the fingured frets)...

Hey, thanks for watching! Sorry, there aren't any lyrics. I'm vocally challenged so I just don't go there...

As a dedicated fingerstyle guitarist myself, I can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard on the instrument.
Keep up the incredible work!

WOW!! Working with nothing BUT harmonics, you perform pure magic, Bob. It's little wonder Michael Hedges was stunned.
