  • @mikelandreth im pretty sure he wasnt playing the classical bit

  • @Leowen2 Acting, but for an actor he did a pretty impressive job at faking it.

  • @Leowen2 probably acting!! because he's an actor and alla turca is very difficult to play..u need be an advanced level player..and i dnt think that ralph ever went for music classes

  • Classical guitar is supposed to be played with the guitar resting on your left leg if your right handed

  • That's insane. If someone were to, one day pull that shit out in my guitar class my teacher would probably drop to his knees.

  • Karate kid playing guitar

  • Whats the song that the girl plays at the end

  • 'I'm sorry I didn't mean any disrespect, But you can go fuck yourself.'

  • HIS NAME IS DANIEL LARUSSO GODDAMNIT

  • @1bol1 Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! That is radtastic! Steve Vai should have worn a skeleton suit at the end of this film.

  • He is ever so beautiful

  • I often watch it over and over again. . .

  • he is to SEXY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can play this on piano.

  • @Phillo127 i'can also..but he's very plain. . .

  • this,my friends,is really good fake guitar playing, watch "Hendrix"(2000) to see BAD fake guitar playing.

  • Guys Ralph is an actor! Come on!

  • @MsMrBig2010 and after all, it's quite possible that he can actually play some guitar. of course it's Steve's and Ry's brilliance that we hear in this movie, but if MAcchio can indeed play guitar no wonder that he could imitate as if playing in this episode pretty well.

  • encruzilhada o melhor filme que ja vi !

  • Willie Brown would say...

    "Sounds like birdshit."

  • His teacher was right: Don't contaminate European music with negroid blues or whatever.

  • @BadgerinSC That is so racist

  • @SantomPh Of all the countries, you had to choose Norway.

  • Sweden damnit!

  • @SantomPh that is swedish

  • @SantomPh norway?meshuggahs from sweden lol

  • Ralph Macchio... That was beautiful... And I don't just mean the song ;) ♥

  • Tabs... anybody?

  • @prisionnerofsociety learn to read sheet music

  • @prisionnerofsociety I try to put the link, but this just doesn't let me, just search for rondo alla turka on ultimate guitar, there is a good one, currently working on it

  • @badgerinsc That "african rubbish" was turned into a classical masterpiece called "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin. Yes it's the same music using the same blues scale. It's American music don't be so obtuse and ignorant.

  • is ralph actually playing

  • Should have kept that African rubbish out of his performance. When Africa produces a Mozart, I'll listen. Until then, his teacher is correct.

  • Mozart would have been right in there making the joke. Especially if he had access to Blues and Jazz.

This last intrument is a 10 string.

  • asians can study 25 hrs per day !!!!

  • No, él no la interpreta realmente, ya quisiera yo que él lo haga, en todo caso lo hace excelentemente bien, es un actorazo, qué es de Macchio, hoy en día?, quisiera verlo actuar otra vez

  • Is this he really playing?

  • @djaism No, but he learned how to fake it realy well!

  • @djaism yep, he is.

  • 1:03 wtf is that 12-string japan thing?!#

  • @BlackDiAmOnDexp is an 8 string lol

  • man, look at this guys... in 86 he had 25 yrs old, but his appearance is like 17 or less.

  • Juli-who?

  • this is karate kid, isn't it? xD

    looks like it...

  • @kuchenO its the karate kid actor yes but the movie is called Crossroads

  • That... Was so good! 35 seconds of awesome. The blues part was my favorite. I would've hit the teacher with my guitar, but I wouldn't want to damage my instrument.

  • OMFG!!! Me want tab

  • What "Song" is the asian girl starting to play at the end of the video?

  • That old ass don't know crap about flavoring up something.

  • What a boring actor...

  • Ralph just a GREAT job "faking" it. Such good form. If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was actually playing.

  • if anyone has the tab for this song pleasse send me the link for itthe only one i can find is where its played up on the 12-17 frets which doesnt sound as good

  • how old is he in this?

  • @IluvMJandBrunoMars I think 22

  • macchio's haircut reminds me that of a butch dike's

  • Ralph Macchio inspired me to hang out with older Asian men

  • steve vie plays most all the music in this movie

  • best faked guitar playing ive ever seen

  • @soiledmytrousers agreed :)

  • @soiledmytrousers

Yes xD, you can see him bend at 0:30 but you can definitely

hear a hammer on and pull off, from a D to E and back to the D.

  • @soiledmytrousers Actually, it wasn't faked. yes, they overdubbed the whole soundtrack with different artists (ry cooder) HOWEVER, at the time, "Eugene" was actually playing the same tune. Look it up on IMDB

  • @dvdsmlprstylr he was "fingering the right notes"..that's not playing. it takes months to build up the calluses as well as other techniques such as bending and vibrato, to be able to actually play those difficult pieces. all he had to do in the movie was memorize the fingering.

Again, I'm not "hating on Ralph"...but this is the truth, he didn't actually play the parts, he just moved his fingers so it looked like he was. that's why he's a good actor.

  • @NathanMantle he did play the parts...see my other reply i sent to you.

I got the quote from IMDB's trivia section of the film (the 4th paragraph down). All finger movements are precise including the bends and vibrato APART from the last scene.

  • @soiledmytrousers actually, he played it in real life and was over-dubbed by ry cooder. the actor plays guitar. if u don't believe me, look up crossroads on IMDB

  • @dvdsmlprstylr he didn't play the guitar in crossroads either. you can tell because his fingers are in completely random places during it...Steve Vai played the parts.

  • @NathanMantle maybe on the last scene, but Ralph Maccio plays guitar and did do in the film (at least some parts in the film.)

  • Ralph Maccio plays guitar. He did play guitar in the film, but maybe not the final scene.

  • @dvdsmlprstylr I'm not saying he can't play at all, I'm sure he knows some chords, but he was trained for like a month just so he could look like he knew how to play the difficult stuff he plays in the movie.

He made some of the right motions with his hands, yes, but none of those notes you heard in the movie were him. They had Vai and Ry Cooder do all of the parts

  • @soiledmytrousers its the best fake b/c its really him playing wtf is with people hating on Mr. Macchio ...

  • @mw2masta1295 he didnt play it...the movie even says so, i can tell by looking at it in most parts of the movie, but he did an amazing job faking it

  • @mw2masta1295 nobody is hating on him...Ralph's awesome! But none of the notes you hear were from him! Steve Vai and Ry Cooder did all of the parts. Look it up.

  • @mw2masta1295 lol if your a guitar player you should be able to see that what his fingers are doing do not add up to what is being heard. Being able to put your fingers in the right spot does not mean your playing the song. Its like having Avril Lavigne memorize the notes to "Technical Difficulties" and video tape her mimicking it. It may look close but no cigar my friend

  • @soiledmytrousers its not fake

  • @azeezabazoozabazee Either you dont play guitar or your blind. He may be syncing up his finger movements but he infact did NOT play this the way it was heard in the film. Any well seasoned guitarist can see that from watching this clip and any other part of the movie. The reason why my comment is top rated is because its true

  • @soiledmytrousers ok ya your right sorry.... im with Arlen right now he said it was fake

  • @azeezabazoozabazee "Though the blues guitar sounds ARENT truly coming from Ralph Macchio's fingers, the actor is actually playing note for note the music of Steve Vai and Ry Cooder." ....this is from IMDB.

  • @soiledmytrousers

Yes! It seems really original. Was heißt noch mal neidisch?

  • @soiledmytrousers I think he played this one, actually.

  • it is johnny cade

  • is that really ralph macchio playing? lol

  • @nickluna5995

Nope. If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure all of the acoustic playing (including this) is done by Ry Cooder, and all of the electric guitar (like Paganini's 5th Caprice on the Telecaster at the end) is done by Steve Vai. I don't know of any exceptions.

  • @Finstahy nop...Ry Cooder can't play this classical stuff...Ry Cooder plays in every slide part...thats for shure

  • @Finstahy This part was done by William Kanengiser who was also one of the coaches who showed Macchio how to "fake it". Cooder does play some of the battle but most of it is Vai doing both parts.

  • @jtbsax No Vai do only his own part on the duel, and the Paganini section on both sides.

  • @Finstahy I understand Arlen Roth also assisted.

  • @musiclover9361 thats true

  • i think im in love.

..too bad i was born too late :(

  • And what the fuck is the Asian lady playing on?

  • It Breaks My Heart to See Some One That Goregeous To be All Old (49) n It Makes Me Cry I Just Wish He was 17 or Younger! Because Im Only 14 N I Just Love Him.. • @pitulluver2009 have you seen the whole movie, its awesome, our teacher made us watch it in 1987, i was 14, it inspired me to play guitar and to appreciate anyone that can play an instrument and i can now finally play this piece

  • @stebolian Yea! I Love Tht Movie.! He Inspried Me To Play Clarinet.. :D

  • @pitulluver2009 lol, was you thinking of him whilst playing it, sorry, just a cheap shot, lol

  • @adiostraitorobama That battle scene with Vai is set up. FAKE!

  • @BLStribute It's not FAKE. It's called a movie!

  • @sugarobyn Yeah, that's because movies are always original and "real". OH so does that mean that Star Wars are really out there? Hehehehehe

  • @evlblue What does IMO mean

  • @comingforyou10 - In My Opinion.

  • I thought that was Bon Jovi playing Dead or Alive

  • XD funny accent but still cute

  • i dont get it but i like how he plays the guitar he gets so into it in the ending of it he looks blue

  • Ralph should have smashed that guitar on that teachers head!

  • Ralph is one of my favorite actors in all world, he´s very good and beatifull. As Daniel-san is an inspiration, as Eugene is a sweetness boy.

  • I've never seen such a strong candidate for steroids as Ralph Macchio!

  • Bill Kanengiser,

  • @adiostraitorobama LOL - but technically he didn't enter any tournament, it was just a duel (but I'm sure you knew that)

  • ooh my guilty pleasure is ralph as a young kid - i loved him then when i was a kiddy and i still love him now :D heeeee im weird

  • making a joke? the blues ain't no joke man!!! LOL

  • i just love his "focusing" face.

  • he is so cute!!

  • Mr. Miyagi trained him well.

  • Jelly Beans suddenly fall from his pockets.

  • Most people treat music as fun. Evidently that is an attitude this teacher is not familiar with :)

  • @chype of course the teacher has a bad attitude, he spent 11 years in the 4077th--couldn't stand all the meatball surgeries.

  • oooh i have been looking for these scenes, i have seen this movie 2 years ago its freakin' awsome :D

  • What is that guitar at the end?
