@petenennstiel I'de like to say I toiled, fine tuning Thor or the Malstrom until I achieved this pad, but I wouldn't be telling the truth.
It's actually a sample off of a sample CD called "What Next!" I've looped the sample and tweeked it a bit with effects but the basic sample is pretty much as it came.
If you IM your email I can send you the patch if you like.
@1xtrabailey Hey, thanks for the positive feedback ;)
There are loads of good tutorials for Reason on Youtube.
One channel that I have learnt so much from is hydlide24 and would highly recommend him. He has tutorials that start right from basics through to more advanced and, for me, he has been invaluable ;)
If you ever get stuck or want to know how something is done, sure, message me through YT.
Hi pokerockmario123 - thanks for the nice comments and rates - It's appreciated mate ;)
I've used three loops on this - @ 0:47 (and throughout) is a loop that I only know of as the 'Think' loop; another loop comes in at around 0:58 which I'm not sure of the name and then the Amen break is used at around 2:19 - ihope that's helpfull :D
Wow! I love that break, haven't heard it a lot in user produced material but it's sounding good in here. Loving the melody hits and pads, and that bass brings it all together nicely. About the 1996 version, is that available anywhere? Would be interested in hearing it. I just wanted to say sorry for not being able to check out your tunes sooner, I know you've checked a few of mine out and I really appreciate it, just been a little busy is all! 5*
Thanks for the positive feedback matey - glad you enjoyed it.
The original? Yeah sure, I got an mp3 copy taken from an old tape cassette. If you pm me your email, i'll forward it to you. The sound quality ain't all that, being from a tape, like, but it's still listenable (no pun intended :] ).
mate, this is outstanding, i use reason for dubstep but aint done anything for ages, gettin the jungle vibe again though, your skills are absolutely ace as a producer mate. prefer this type of stuff over modern dnb anyday easily!
I chop it up into 4th, 8th & 16th, using parts from the full 3 bars of the amen break and taking 16th and 8th from the 4th as well (if that makes sense), giving plenty to play with.
I'll work on getting a good 4, 8 or 16 bar beat going and then, when arranging, I go into each section and play around with elements from the amen break adding expressions and fills.
This is first of yours ive listened to and it's great! The production is top notch mate! ;) Not really my style but I can appreciate talent when I hear it! I hope you've entered the DnB Comp?! That bit at around 2:15 sounds a little like 'Valley of The Shadows' really nice touch! ;)
Brilliant song mate, can you please teach me how to use reason 4, im dying to make 90's style jungle.. like dj dextrous etc. i can chop amen breaks n that in fl.. but need to start using reason..
this tune is great, love the beginning feel to it, nice smooth vibes through out but a good funky hard hit, the instruments you use are spot on, and love the samples, specially the random hello, keep em coming ;) 5/5
Oh and one more thing - I noticed in the Statistics & Data that most all the views are in the UK! LOL hell man I'm from the US - Kansas. It's a shame this stuff isn't popular over here. What's funny though is I always come across people that are impressed with this kind of music - never hear it and then they are hooked. Granted I am usually listening to Progression Sessions but still. People over here just like Pop and all that foo foo GARBAGE. UK has good taste!!! =)
lol - I feel for you mate. America is a big place, so I guess it makes it harder for a 'scene' or genre to take off big. That's the good thing about the Internet and Youtube, it makes it all so available.
But jungle and dnb is out there in America - check out geosafari channel - a dude from America making really good dnb and dub-step.
Lovin it! This indeed reminds me of the 90s jungle that got me into this kind of music to begin with. Bukem's Logical Progression and the like come to mind with that Rhodes and those spacey pads. This music will never get old. I love it when I see new creations from people like you because this particular style is something special. I really would like to some tips on producing jungle with Reason. If you know of anything that would help me with that specifically give me a shout. GREAT SONG!!!
Thanks for your great comments JChief4040, it's well appreciated matey. Making Jungle? :o/ Eerrr . . ! (lol)
Well, for me, I like to spend alot of time building rhythms; using sliced up beats in NNXT & making good use of velocity for expression. Once I've got a basic rhythm going, I then start to expand on it by adding and moving beats about and just kind-a follow me nose, so to speak. I hope that's helpful dude. Maybe I'll be listening to one of your tunes on Youtube soon :D Stay cool fella.
hi rob :) i find myself listening to this again and again, this captures the whole 90's vibe of good jungle for me, this is seriously wicked, lately i've felt i cant make any more music, gonna give this more listens to get motivation, i found the time to add all the mp3's you sent me, to my ipod, gonna be playing them alot, this track is gonna get played a hell of alot :D wicked drums and wicked mellow tunes, big respect m8, keep them jungle chooooons coming :D peace buddy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks Pete - I'm truly touched 'man. It's a real compliment comin' from your good self. I'm glad you're feelin' it mate, it means alot.
I like layering 'mellow' with 'rough' and (I think) this tune has that - calm melodics in the rhodes and pad, complimented by the rough and punchy beats. At least, that was what I was aiming for :D
Don't knock your effort's mate, your time spent on this was well worth it, you've nailed a sweet sound here, takes me back to the days of young, free, and single ..... wtf went wrong? lmao. If you get the time knock out another chune, loved this one.
listening to this on the mp3 you so kindly sent me m8 :) i think this one is your best yet :D dunno what my neighbours think lol, blasting it fucking loud on my system ;) propper good jungle rob, killer beats!!!! love you love your sound!!! respect!!! peace man xxxx
I'm just glad it's finished cuz it was driving me insane (lol). Towards the end I thought I'd lost my way with it and I was beginning to think that it was just rubbish, so it's good that yourself and others enjoy it. It's restored my liking for the tune :D
great track rob :D 5/5 and favourited, sweet jungle drums ;D i was doing music in the 90's to, just on crappy yamaha keyboards, but it wasnt jungle or dnb, it was just rubbish, i didnt have a clue really, just liked making strange sounds :) peace m8ty :D xxx
I might re-do just one more of me old tunes (It's been a good way of learning the bones of Reason), but then me thinks it'll be time to move on and make some new shit :D
i bought a ipod touch 3rd gen 64gb £299.00 , my credit card took a major hit :o, i have my hotmail on the ipod, after listening to your track on the pc, i checked my mail on the ipod, and just listened to this track on the ipod :) sounded wicked :D i just hope i can pay back my credit card before i get screwed by the interest
Sick tune, really chilled lounge sound. What did you originally use in '96 to produce this. I missed anything happening in the lower octaves because I just listened on a laptop. I'm gonna give it another listen in the studio tomorrow. Let me know if you ever need help with mixing and mastering, I'd be glad to help.
Cheers Simon, I appreciate you taking time to give it a hearing.
I originally made it on Atari 1040/Notator sequencer, Roland W30 workstation, Roland U220 and various effect units & a bog standard mixing desk (a basic 'bedroom' studio =D ).
Thanks for the offer of help with M&M - It just seemed no matter how much I tried, it just always sounded 'muddy' and difficult to get real 'sound separation' or 'definition', and just couldn't work out how to approach it.
mate how did you make that pad? i have reason aswell but i'm a noob did you use thor?
