Today I had to release my pet turtles into a river after 4 or so years with them.. I listened to this song as I watched them slowly walk into the water.. Was on a train today going through London listening to this and I swear to god I had shivers all over my body as people got on and off the train, moving in and out of our lives everyone is on their own journey crossing paths - the music made me feel like I was in a scene from Lost. Then as it shot passed through London I could look down and see hundreds of people all setting off on their own paths to where - who knows? But it sure as hell made me miss Lost and realise how much it changed me.

Before I began watching Lost, I already knew how it would end. I was about to go to bed one evening not too long ago, and as I was exiting my homepage I accidentally clicked on something that turned out to be a review for the series finale. I read it and thought it looked interesting, so I went on Netflix and started my journey. Knowing where Lost is going has not made me admire this show any less, it quickly grew on me. Now, I am already on season five.

@jensbolle You are a right to a certain degree. The piece that played in the last moments did contain a variation on the life and death theme. It also included the main theme and the oceanic 6 theme. However, this parting and gathering theme in its entirety was not used - hurley's theme was used which in itself is a variant on this theme. Yet, if you listen carefully it is heard when the plane takes off and Kate, Sawyer, Claire etc leave the island.

What I can miss from season 1 is the gathering between the Losties. No it´s all mysterious, and sure thats great to but Season 1 was a little calmer and more drama between the relationship between everybody

While the mystery of the show may be resolved somewhat by the end of the show, the heart which was beating from the beginning of the show right through to the end will continue to beat forever in the hearts of millions of fans.

At the recent Lost Live Event Concert held in LA to celebrate the end of the show, Giacchino conducted the Lost Symphony Orchestra. The pieces played were as follows:-

1) The Survivors Theme (Main Theme)

2) Exploring and Travelling Theme (Hollywood and Vines)

3) Oceanic 6 Theme (There's No Place Like Home)

4) The Temple Theme

5) Life and Death Theme

6) Jacob's Theme (The Tangled Web)

Lastly, this Parting and Gathering theme concluded the whole thing most significantly.

As I listen I just sit and think of how much good Lost has done not just for television but for people all over the world: its beliefs, its message, its ideas, its great writing, great music, great acting, great everything. I am so glad to have watched this show as I grew up and as this piece plays I wave goodbye to something remarkably special in my mind. Experiencing LOST, I, like many, truly found myself.

I will definitely be disappointed if LOST doesn't somehow end with this song blasting with a full orchestra. It's truly hopeful and epic. Also, it seems as though this song has been used sparingly during the last three seasons, as if they're reserving it for the ending. It's will be a big pay off for the score junkies out there when it's played loudly to accompany the show's conclusion.

The producers say the last season is reminiscent of the first. Look at how that ends - you have the launching of the raft with this beautiful music and still a cliff-hanger feeling that is Lost's trademark. I think they'll do the same in the Series Finale. Watch the special on Series 4 DVD about the music - Giacchino leads a concert of all the music and leaves THIS piece last. The producers and J.J Abrams all admitted to this being the peak of emotion in the show. How can they not end with it?

I definitely think it is a possibility. Then again, there have been a number of amazing pieces throughout the series..you would know best since I keep listening to your uploads. : )

I think another big possibility is the theme played in LA X when the plane lands. That has a feel of being Season 6's theme, and it is really quite beautiful. I really doubt that I will be disappointed in whatever Giacchino does.
