  • if theyd actually had the guts to kill off some of the main characters this really could have been the greatest cliffhanger ever, its all about the pay off.

  • this episode traumatized me..i was just a kid when this first aired

  • wtf is this pice of shed???

  • Blooper: watch at 5:41 and see the man at the window fall through it. At the right a man is shot (he is falling on some chairs). Watch at 5:47 and the glass is back on again (and the man that went through it is also there)!! The man 'at the right', who was shot 6 seconds before, is standing up again, but gets shot a second time!!!

  • Wow, what a way to end a season!

  • One of the best cliffhangers ever!! Dynasty all gave the best it had to offer. It still is my favorite show after all these years. May Alexis Rule Forever!!

  • the sound of the bells at the end... chilling. Great TV!

  • That's all folks!

  • cool

  • moldova did not exist in the 85's....is so funny

  • Comment removed

  • Bloody pikey weddings!

  • Hahahah... This is so random and dumb, that I don't know what to say... Moldavian military attacking Dynasty... Hahaha... Ridiculous...

  • Steven didn't move....the guy on the red carpet is a guest of the "groom". Steven is on top of the priest directly under the altar and does not move. A man at the bottom screen left moves and a woman in white on screen right moves her hand and head slightly.

  • the only who moved right at the end is clearly Steven

  • Amazing!!!!

  • Is that Blackwater?

  • Bummer. I bought the 1984-1985 DVD season, and it doesn't end like this with the omnious church bells ringing all thru the credits. Instead, the church bells stop, and they play the "Dynasty" theme during the credits. Sure wish it played out like this video, it's more haunting and effective.

  • super odcinek

  • This was the finale of season 5 (i think) but not the last ever episode.

Been rewatching this on CBS drama and it brought back great memories.

I wish they would bring back shows like this. Yes they were trashy but always great escapism tv.

  • Was this the last episode of Dynasty?

  • @gabriel120609 No, but it probably should have been

  • No, it was the final of one season, I found it out watching an Alexis interview. She sayed that depending of the blood stain the production put in their bodies by the massacre they would be in the next season or not, strange way of setting out actors, I mean if they had a little stain it was just a little hurt, and obviously a big stain meant that the person was killed.

  • @gabriel120609 nonsense. The stars lived, short term guests died.

  • @thehowandwhy

    Now THAT would have been a series finale that would STILL be talked about. You're right;

  • The clothes were actually really stylish and flattering,by making the shoulders wider the waist looks smaller

  • @kingofcouture5 Hi. I agree with you. I love that look. I still wear vintage designer clothes from the 80's. Clothes were really beautiful back then and more elegant than they are now - IMO.

  • even when i was a kid i didnt get the premmis of this story someone help me

  • The bride's wedding gown and hairstyle are a dead giveaway that it was made in 1980"s!! :-D

  • for those who keep insisting on dynasty being trash

I've watched the whole show and let me tell you: IT IS NOT

we have to adapt the show to its context: it was the 1980's, the era of over the top-ness.

would you call ALF, back to the future and He-man trash? no! cause those story lines and over the top stories were attractive back then.

  • It's a damn good way to get rid of dead wood for a soap opera. Dy nasty haha! For other soaps this would have been a chance missed but in this case we were all happy. Maybe they should have a random gunman turn up in EastEnders sometime to freshen things up a little!

  • NOW THAT'S HOW YOU CRASH A WEDDING!

  • Where was Moldavia? Near Vulgaria? Vaginia?

  • @MrThesheenster Hahahahahahah too funny

    Vulgaria! Vaginia

  • So ominous, those bells ringing out to the end, no theme music.

  • 1980ies fashion was not that bad, I liked the clothes

  • Americans always know how to do the best cliffhangers

  • Now this is classic, dramatic soap opera at it's best!

  • TRULY AMAZING

  • some hot gossip Joan Collins shat her self in this scene poor dear had to be ushered out the room to cover her modesty the night before she had been at a party with henry winkler and had too much to drink the heat and the combination of Linda making cakes made Joan very ill that day the shit was right up the back of that stunning dress god love Joan ever the charmer

  • Catherine Oxenberg might have had a flashback to how her mother's grandfather's brother gained the throne of Serbia in 1903...the king was shot, his queen was hacked to pieces, and their bodies were thrown out of a palace window.

  • Despite what a lot of people say, this was not the Jump the Shark moment, but rather the aftermath. The aftermath was awful, w/ only 2 minor characters dead. Prince Michael, King Galen, Yuri (eyepatch-guy) & Claudia should have died as well, along w/ Andrew Laird (who's character pretty much already diappeared anyway, so why not kill him off) & Rosalind, the woman who raised Amanda, just to up the number of deaths & potential drama afterwards.

  • This is not a video to see if you are getting married soon, but OMG that is one hell of a cliffhanger if you ask me.

  • Comment removed

  • I loved that scene. There's nothing better than watching a bunch of spoiled patricians getting a spanking from a rough bunch.

  • The reason everyone was lying on the ground motionless at the end is because the terrorists were still in the room with their guns trained on them. The survivors were afraid that if they moved, they would be shot. The survivors were not unconscious, they were either frozen in shock, or "playing dead" in order to avoid being shot.

  • when adam was shot i was like HOLY CRAP!!!!

  • WTF?

  • I do love this show, but whay was everyone unconcious?

  • I noticed the wood that formed the panes on the windows the terrorosts crashed through were only on the inside of the room..perhaps a safety feature for those stuntmen who had to crash through them.

  • And after that huge hail of bullets only 2 people died. How absurd was that lol Those militia either were horrible shooters or most guns had blanks in them.

  • @cluvsonj True, it does seem odd, but keep in mind the terrorists were not aiming for the wedding guests. They were aiming for the king and the prince. Granted, in real life more people would have been killed in the crossfilre, but as this is a TV Soap Opera we need to exercise a little "suspension of disbelief" (remember what Sharon Stone said in the back of the police car in "Basic Instinct"?).

  • @tracksdc89 Yeah that suspension has to be held in daytime soaps for sure. I just read over some background on the various characters from Days of our LIves and I could not get over the absurdity, the number of times someone has broken up and got back together or gotten pregnant (they never use birth control in soaps lol) and then lost the baby or is pregnant by the wrong person, coming back to life a million times. Most have been maried at least 10 times lol

  • @tracksdc89 Oh forgot to add how they age people. I just read a character on Days I recall being born in 1997 is now in a major story on the soap and he must be in his 30s. He has already had 2 kids with Sami. And Sami's son who was born 2 yrs before this guy is still barely out of his teens so they aged one tremendously and not the other.

  • The shooting sequence has some editing issues in terms of the sequence of events. But at 5;59/6:00 I now see what looks like a pair of legs crawling DOWN the skirting of Amanda's gown. I wonder if this could be John Forsythe crawling over to Krystle? Keeping in mind the scene where he crawls to Krystle happens earlier in the final edit. It could be this was shot from different angles. If one looks carefully there are wedding guests STANDING when there is a hail of bullets flying.

  • is this the same as on the season 5 dvd? what was missing?

  • I think I would have freaked out if I had watched the series in the 80s, waiting so long and not knowing who's gonna survive and who won't.

  • The writers were copying Miami Vice

  • @LibertariansAreLiars how? I don't remember any royal weddings in MIami Vice ..

  • @LibertariansAreLiars, Actually, I read the writer of this wedding massacre was the same writer who wrote the "Who Shot JR?" season finale cliffhanger for "Dallas". This is a hundred times more better.

  • Wow, I am glad I wasn't at that wedding. Alexis' dress clashed with the blood - that's a first I am sure.

  • Catherine Oxenberg's hair was more animated than she was. She should have been arrested for impersonating an actress.

  • The best cliffhanger ever. Too bad the follow-up was such a let down...

  • I was always amused at the king being named Galen...made me think of Roddy McDowell's character in "Planet of The Apes". The king was severely injured & ended up in a wheelchair & Alexis cared for him, until she found he was deceiving her, & she called him "Your despicable majesty", always remember that comment. I think Michael Praed was better as Robin Hood in "Robin Of Sherwood", prior to being Prince Michael

  • I always figured that they were all "playing possum", so they would not get shot

  • Ali MacGraw got a lot of bad press about her acting on the show, but Catherine Oxenburg made her look like Meryl Streep in comparison. She was horrible.

  • amanda was bedding her stepfather in early episodes...

  • Holy shit, this is the 400th comment! :D

...I think they are jumping the shark here. It wouldn't get better than this.

  • Oh my gosh this scene totally reminds me of the Godfather :D

  • who toke the pcitures at the wedding

  • @stormy259 Lady Ashley Mitchell (Ali Mac Graw) was photographing Alexis and Amanda

  • What has this video to do with Moldova?

  • @14Pelasgia83CZC i also can't get it ))))

  • Hard to imagine that this was actually made by adult people. Pretty embarrassing...

  • You know it is not a good day when the priest get shot a wedding

  • Moldavia look a great deal like SoCal...

  • The gum commercial where men riding on ostriches crash thru the walls and cause confusion and chaos always reminded me of this "Dynasty" wedding massacre cliffhanger.

In the commercial, one ostrich pecked its shocked victim in the chest violently! If only this wedding was attacked by soilders on ostrichback, that'll been great.

  • They were pretty good shots. Only shortterm guest players bit the dust.

  • Oh God,so many years ago,i don't believe it!

  • Alexis is made of iron. Not even wedding crashing terrorists could slay her.

  • @fvgbe342 ROTFLOL! You are so right! Alexis is definitely like a cat with nine lives...or nineteen! Even gun wielding terrorists can't get her down!

  • Poor Luke - he saved Claudia's life only to have her die that same time the next year!

    :-)

  • TPTB pretty much made it clear to the audience that Ali MacGraw's 'Ashley' was killed!

  • love it!!!

  • ali mcgraw's dumb ass taking pictures!!!!!!

  • people DID die ali mcgraw thankfully her character bit the bullet and a few others

  • AMANDAAAA! MY BAAAABY! ;-))))

  • I've only watched it because of Family Guy, season 9 premiere, which is almost all based on Dynasty... why, this episode is in the memory of the mother from the creator of Family Guy, so I think that Dynasty was something she loved...

  • it was just stupid. they're shooting all over the place and then comes the over-dramatic ending, showing everyone as if they are dead with bells ringing ... no one died. then season 6 starts and whomever the leader is claims he decided to spare all of them them. what was the delay with the gun men? were they just looking around in satisfaction of having scared everyone? they should've had the men crash threw the windows, open gun fire, people screaming, people falling down, go to black

  • @nickah79

"they should've had the men crash threw the windows, open gun fire, people screaming, people falling down, go to black."

Now that would have been more realistic, just buy ending it that way, showing the gun men shooting, hearing screams, then cut to the credits in black, as oppose to showing all the characters playing dead. I mean, we knew neither of the main characters were not going to be killed off, what were these writers thinking? Or for that matter smoking? Lol!!

  • @MrJuly1990ish

Or at the very least, open Season 6 a month after the attack, that way *we* dont have to suffer the insult of watching them all file out of there unscathed. Everyone's back in Denver, someone recovering from a gunshot wound, another paralyzed, all traumatized. Claudia died along w Luke and Ashley. The king and prince are both dead, neatly ending the whole royalty storyline before it has to drag on for another half season. Amanda is our deposed princess without a country lol.

  • @8inchtop

Yeah exactly, the way Falcon Crest did in season 2 cliffhanger when Julia Channing was revealed as the killer, as she pulls a gun out and shoots at everyone as the scene fades out showing the Channing mansion. In the next scene after that, a casket is going down six feet under. The viewers would have to wait until season 3 of Falcon Crest to see who it was. The writers of Dynasty should have took note, and been more realistic with this unrealistic Moldavian Massacre BS.

  • I actually thought this was one of the dumbest storylines in Dynasty's history. Everyone in the church is lying on the ground, unconscious and motionless. There is no way every single person could have been shot and injured to the point of unconsciousness. Then, only 2 bit characters actually died. Dynasty finally topped longtime ratings king Dallas in 1984-85 (Dynasty finished the season as the #1 show with Dallas at #2; however, the Dallas season finale did receive higher ratings than Dynasty)

  • Moldavia is actually a real country now, back in the '80s it was still part of the Soviet Union. It's a republic though, not a monarchy.

  • I love how everyone is knocked out at the end of the shooting,no explanation ever given for that.

  • @dramaticguy "dramatic licence"

  • I wonder how the wedding album turned out?

  • The payoff to this Cliff Hanger is what reeked! Everyone was just holding Thier arms or head and it just a motive to get rid of the other high priced cast members........also Sammy Jo should have been a guest too..........They should have gone with an Earth Quake cliff hanger!

  • Ok ,so what are the people who were not shot unconscious from??? invisible gas??? Hilarious

  • @Morgainell they were playing dead

  • so did everyone die or something?

  • Many have complained that this was the beginning of the end for this show. The resolution was a severe disapointment. The reason for this cliffhanger was many of the cast member's contracts were up so what better way then to "kill" the cast off. Many rumours and plotline for season 6 was for Krystle to be killed and her "double" taking her place and Alexis being Queen of Moldavia.

  • @orly1971

In fact Alexis being crowned queen was filmed but when ratings plunged the show had a midseason retool. Hence why the Krystal double plotline also ended early. But really this was the beginning of the end for the show.

  • @JRSueEllen She was the best part of the show. People seem to always become annoyed with the super good ones but we need them in the world because what would it be if everyone was bad. There had to be one angel on the show since everyone pretty much had bad qualities

  • Hitchcock said the best way to build tension is to have the audience aware of danger that the actors aren't. Dynasty producers used that device with shatteringly effective results. The suspense that builds (punctuated by the 4:25 montage) hasn't been equalled in primetime TV since.

  • @rontimmy How true..25 years later and we are still talkng about it. The house, btw, is not Greystone as I had thought...aireal maps did not coincide with the house we saw there. Though the exterior has many similar attributes with each other. The producers used the Harold Lloyd Estate..producers opened up the early production to the press as I have pics of the cast (except Joan) w/press members. The wedding scene was a day long event, very tiresome and a closed set.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday.

  • OMG I REMEMBER THIS LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY. EVERYBODY WAS IN MY HIGH SCHOOL WAS TALKING ABOUT THIS THE NEXT DAY, DUDES, GIRLS. IT WAS CRAZY IN THE CLASSROOM. MY WHOLE HS WERE DYNASTY FREAKS. I DO BELIEVE THIS WAS BEST CLIFFHANGERS EVER NEXT TO "WHO SHOT JR"...

  • UZI does it

  • TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO TONIGHT!

  • now this is what you call a shotgun wedding! lol

  • The priest should have been Peter Cook. "Mawwiage is an honorwabble state..."

  • Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing all great success shows of the 1980's...now a days there is nothing!

  • I remember I was 13 when Season 5 aired and obsessed with Catherine Oxenberg :)

I put a cassette player in front of the TV and recorded the wedding episode on audio cassette, as we did not have a VCR until 1989 LOL

Totally agree, the cliffhanger was brilliant! Really looking forward to the DVD box set. Should be out soon.

  • They didn´t kill the king!?

Fuck! They should have killed the scum of the Earth!

    Fuck Monarchy!

  • If any 1 is looking 4 the song it's cantata bwv 208: ix. schäfe können sicher weiden. To find easier in iTunes just type cantata bwv and u will find it or in classical section it's the #1 album song 18

  • best ever glamour series - and this scene tops all other cliffhangers!

  • Is it wrong that I'm more into the terrorist in this episode??? I mean, they have some serious skills here!!!

  • Nice security

  • absolutely amazing.............

  • John (Blake) Forsythe

    1918 - 2010

    God Bless You, John

    You Were Great

  • i think i heaed someone say protect the cake

  • @shieldsuma LOL...EXCELLENT!!

  • @naobe5 ohhhh, he says protect the king.. that was kinda funny

  • @shieldsuma Protect the cake!! Hell with the king! LOL hilarious!!

  • This was the funniest thing I have ever seen on national television the onlylthing that comes close is the "dream" season on Dallas. This was WAY, WAY , WAy over the top. Sometimes I wish the actors could tell the writiers, no way are we doing that it is a pile of shit.

  • This was the funniest thing I have ever seen on national television the onlylthing that comes close is the "dream" season on Dallas. This was WAY, WAY , WAy over the top. Sometimes I wish the actors could tell the writiers, no way are we doing that it is a pile of shit.

  • The Moldavian massacre - by russian troops

  • I loved watching Dynasty, Dallas, and Falcon Crest. These weekly prime-time soaps were a hundred times better than the daily soaps.

I think the prime-time soaps worked so well because they were dark dramas about the rich and affluent.

Plato once said, "drama and tragedy should be about topics of the upper classes, while comedy should be restricted to topics of the lower classes."

  • The only ones who died were Lady Ashley and Steven's boyfriend Luke.

  • @MrKeithAlan Yes wasnt that crazy that only 2 died out of all those people that got machine gunned. How absurd is that lol

  • i saw this ep when i was little in the 80s and it was the last episode and it was summer and i was shocked i said WTF??? everyone is dead???????

but in the next season they WERENT lol but still the show was one of the best shows on tv and it was very enjoyable to watch till the last ever episode ALEXIS ROCKs lol

  • The best cliff hanger in History

  • @QonOUTview Being a "Dallas" fan.... I think the best cliff hanger in history was "Who shot Jr?"

  • For a better world....

  • Oh please people. It was fun, OTT cliffhanger. Did you REALLY expect any of the main cast to bite it/ Would you have been happy if they had? No you would have bitched about that. It was hilarious and put Dynasty on the map for one of TV's greatest weddings.

  • This cliffhanger was supposedly Dynasty's biggest cliffhanger ever but yet the show went on a downward spiral after this. How realistic is it that everyone somehow lived? Very similar to what happened on Melrose Place 10 years later when the writers had Kimberly blow up the apartment building. It too was a great cliffhanger but everyone lived. Then the show nosedived after that. Common trait in all the Aaron Spelling shows.

  • I just don't understand why it couldn't have froze at 6:31, after Dex jumped in.... Instead of showing everyone laying there like dead only for everyone to be alive again in the next season.... Especially with a machine gun blasting the whole place. I'd like to know the names of the idiots who decided this was such a great cliff hanger. They ruined the show.

  • @nickah79 the drama of them laying there possibly dead is unparalleled, it worked

  • @ludel lol except for that one guy on the upper right that moves as they pan out. FAIL!

  • @scris467 Actually 3 people move in the final moments..the man who was on the altar, there is a man on the floor several feet in front of Dominique who looks like he's having a death spasm. And a woman at 7:29 on screen right moves her head and her left arm.

There was some consistency among the extras the producers used. In the season 6 opener there are a number of familiar faces who exit the chapel in various wounded states.

  • yeah, remember that movie The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight? This was surely a spin off!!!

  • The writers went RAMBO on this episode!!

  • da cu ce okazie aici moldova? slava domnului ka la noi nuntile is vesele, da nu ka in traurnyi pohod

  • who are the guys in the camos?

  • The episode after this is something to behold. They all just get up and walk off!! Excepr for a couple of extras who died, everyone else lived and acted as if they hadn't been machine gunned!!!! This truly was the death of DYNASTY. What a pile of shit!

  • @StreathamG It was a warning to the actors. Ask for more money and you will be dead and off the show.

    Great cliff hanger tho.......

  • @StreathamG

Does anyone know the what the name of the instrumental music is that starts with the wedding march then goes all beautiful like? answers here please!!!

  • @Super1973Pookie 'Sheep May Safely Graze' by Bach

  • @StreathamG Pretty much yeah. The show was trash. But AHH what great Trash!!

  • @StreathamG thanks, I would not have waste my time to see what happens next, but I knew that would have been something shitty as that. That would have been a good end to the serie, but not for a season!

  • @facefantome

"That would have been a good end to the serie, but not for a season!"

Lol!!! Yeah, I agree this stupid cliffhanger did it for me. When the show opens with the new season, I was like WTF? No ambulances? No paramadics or doctors? No helicoptors to fly out the seriously wounded?

No hospital or emergency rooms? Nope! Everyone (poor Lady Ashley & Luke), just play dead for a moment, get up, brush off the bullets and walk away. The beginning of the end for Dynasty.

  • @StreathamG I think Diahhann Carroll did have a hair out of place. The subsequent episode with the cast -minus Alexis (!)- standing on the grass declaring "How dare you?!" was pretty bad.

  • I love a good wedding!

  • Gripping! Where is Moldavia, it looks my kind of country, with such a handsome Prince, not like the inbreeds we have to look at in this country.

  • da pri4em moldavian massacre ??

  • The sauga ...lol

  • I love the editing faux pas that are in the action sequence. At 5:26 the Royal Body Guard is shooting at the bride's side of the room, not at the entrance. At 5:29 Steven /Alexis are already on the floor. At 5:46 Catherine is seen holding her veil in place, on Michael's right. At the end of the scene she is suddenly on his left. At 6:00 Claudia/ Luke are nowhere to be found at the altar. At 6:03 Jeff /Ashley land in a pile of cushions which quickly disappear. There are many more to be seen..

  • homeric, Did you notice during the studio fight between Krystle and Alexis, the painting display stand moved while Krystle was destroying the painting of Blake that Alexis had done? You seem to have hawk eyes for filming and editing mistakes!!

  • Yes! I see it moving...I wonder if it was Linda's foot..those easles are very lightweight/ Interesting note, I was told when Linda went to smash the painting originally she could not as the canvas underframe was too thick. It had to be altered so it would break easily.

With the studio catfight there are many incidents that are overlooked. I love how furniture and other set pieces vanish and move on their own.

  • Catherine Oxenberg, she was my idol in my teenage.

    I love her.

  • Looks like more than a couple of people died

  • Quick, shoot EVERYBODY but the major cast members! This was almost as funny as an A-Team shootout.

  • The people that should've been knocked off in the massacre other than just Lady Ashley and Steven's boyfriend:

Claudia- by this time she really had no purpose and she just to be killed off a year later anyway.

Dominique- she was irritating as hell and she never had any purpose for ever being on the show in the first place

Prince Michael- do I really have to explain? You should already know why.

  • Why not kill off the whole cast? Lol!! After this dumbass cliffhanger, the show pretty much was over. Than the network had the damn nerve to have a spinoff series (The Colbys) that was even more stupid!

  • Knots Landing was the only soap of the 80s that didn't obviously repeat itself, didn't O.D. on drama, and didn't kill off every single original character that was on the show. Even though I've never really watched the show, I can tell by the clips I've seen of it that it was much more grounded in reality that other soaps of that time and ended up lasting the longest.

  • Not only that FamilyGuy770, but Knots Landing didn't always put the main characters in life or death situations in every damn season final or cliffhanger! For example the last several cliffhangers on Dynasy, Alexis Carrington was in a fire, almost strangled to death, in a massacre, car went off a bridge, was shot at, fell over a balcony. You can pretty much predict that she is going to survive somehow, do to the simple fact that Joan Collins was the main star of the show!

  • Family, What I loved best about "Dynasty" is that it was never boring. Aren't soaps supposed to have crazy, outrageous storylines? If they don't, it gets too boring. But, you're right, "Knots Landing" lasted the longest in the ratings and number of seasons. I suppose more viewers like words better than action.

  • I like soaps with action and moderately over the top storylines, but when it gets to alien abductions and evil twins that's just insane! If I wanna see over the top stuff, I at least want it to be plausible. P.S.: Dallas had plenty of action itself, more than Dynasty!

  • Family, Fallon aboarding the UFO happened on "The Colbys", not "Dynasty". When Fallon returned to "Dynasty", the incident was not ignored. It may have been a zany storyline, but it's better than boredom.

"Rita" was not Krystle's evil twin, she was an imposter to steal from the Carringtons. Identity fraud is something very real.

(By the way, people have claimed to have been taken away in a UFO in real life)

  • Family, Compare the season finales collections of "Dallas" and "Dynasty" here on YouTube. "Dy
