  • these commentators haven't changed

  • i remember watching him when i was 10. he was a beast. he could have ran through a brick wall and not skip a beat.

  • Means is the BUSINESS!

  • Kinda reminds me of Rashard Mendenhall

  • Kinda reminds me of Rashard Mendenhall

  • Bobby Ross and his offensive coordinators were genius for this high octane ground offense...

  • Tolbert reminds me of Natrone Means

  • berman is the best! so creative and funny

  • How can a guy so BIG be that FAST!?

  • Natrone is a boss!

  • Underrated player. Forgotten too. Seems like the POWER I is forgotten. NFL is now wussy shit. Chris Berman is the man on ESPN PRIMETIME.

  • One of my favorite players. I remember him in Jacksonville too. Damn I miss the days of POWER I

  • Natrome is one of my favorites of all time!! Miss his days as a Tarheel!!!

  • This is when you didn't need cable to watch a game all you need was an analog antenna. Now days you either have to fork out 450 bucks for a day at the stadium or pay cable or sat tv a hefty monthly bill to watch your own team locally. I am pretty sure a fan/working man could use that extra 80-120 bucks a month.

  • 2:17 was such a great moment irt. I almost forgot how fast the big man was.

  • Comment removed

  • the last play was amazing. literally everyone but the safety was in the box. you just dont see the 46 defense anymore.

  • He may not have lasted long, but damn it, he was an elite back for that one season in 1994.

  • Being a Chiefs fan, suring his career I hated him, but loved the way he ran. He reminded me of Christian Okoye, could run over your entire defense then outrun anyone who's left.

  • This dude is Mean, he Means business!

  • How fast did he run the 40??

  • Comment removed

  • Rod Woodson said and I quote "It hurts tackling him" LOL!

  • this guy has a sick season in 94

  • He's like Bettis but way faster. I'd hate to tackle him. Guys like him and Bo are very rare.

  • Hes like Tolbert and LT at the same time.

  • I had never heard of this guy. I ran across him while looking at highlights of the 100 leading rushers in NFL history (he's number 99). This guy is FUCKING EPIC!! He is a lot like Tolbert, but he's faster. It had to be really scary to tackle him.

  • tolbert reminds me of this guy

  • @MetalOnMetal09 Tolbert wont take the Chokers to the SB

  • @rando714 campbell and your new coach wont take your commitment to shit to a superbowl or the playoffs

  • @thatlittledude1 No one will ever take the Chokers to a SB victory...

  • @rando714

Mebbe not, but Tolbert + Mathews can! Add to that the Rivers-Gates connection and whichever WR we have cuz Philip just don't give a fawk, and the Chargers got a good shot.

  • @chenp0 Good shot a choking again

  • TOLBERT

  • i miss him too, he was amazing, electric, we wouled really need him today, with the chargers, 'cause we dont have a really good back right now, even so great player, also barry sanders was the man, if hadn't retired early he would be on top of the list, and he was good with a bad team

  • Hes big but effin fast

  • NATRONE MEEEEAANS BUSINESS!!!!!!

  • What happened with him?

One really good season and then after that he never played a full season. Did he get injured?

  • @jorgekluney Yes he got hurt during the '95 season. He played for several more years but he was never the same as the great '94 season..

  • @joebarnin Thanks for the info.

That's a shame his career ended like that. Runs like a beast on the field.

  • @jorgekluney like 96 or 97 he was averaging a 100ypg; leading the league thru 10 games and broke his leg.. there goes his career.

  • I frequenlty confuse him with LT because of the closeness of their numbers on their jerseys. 20 and 21.

  • he looked a lot better than that over rated POS Tomlinson

  • He was on the Jags, too!

  • LT may have been the best the whole time in SD. but Means went to the superbowl.

  • Tolbert is an almost exact copy of Natrone. He just needs to get more carries

  • Tolbert = Means 2.0

  • HE WAS WAY FASTER THAN THE "BUS"

  • THIS DUDE WAS THE SHIT!!! HE WAS BETTER THAN JEROME BETTIS

  • if jerome was the bus then this guy was a Ferrari tank

  • @Rochabp DAMN RIGHT!!

  • @Rochabp Well said my friend! I used to love watching Natrone set the field on fire with his lightning speed!

  • Natrone Means Business

  • thats a serious td at 3:10 reminds me of frank gore doesnt look fast but can break away from anybody Natrone killed it in 94

  • Stan Humphries for Emperor.

  • that guy likes saying "Bissness"

    lol

  • God he was unstoppable in '94. Too bad he couldn't be this dominant for more of his career.

  • When i was a kid playing street ball i used a sharpie marker to make myself a home-made "jersey" using a white t-shirt. The back read 'Means 20' HA! Means is the man.

  • What is the song at 1:26?

  • do you have copies of the game shown :06 & 2:08? man I would love a copy of those games!

  • Comment removed

  • We need a running back like him now. Ryan Mathews looks like him.

  • @DaygoSports No disrespect intended but...Dude, no way. Like it was mentioned, Earl Campbell, Means looked like him, but ran like lightning fast. He was exciting to watch.

  • my first AOL screen name back in id say 95 was means20, hes my hero, i got a football card book of probably every card ever produced for him lol. hes the man, speed and power, was so much fun to watch him play.

  • The speed was not tampered with. It may appear faster due to blurring but that was the way he looked on tv back then! I'm from Ohio so it is all Bengals, Steelers, and Browns here (and Ohio State) but I NEVER missed watching a game when Natrone was playing. He is the reason I started watching football regularly. He really was a 240lb Darren Sproles and to this day is still my favorite all time back (with TD from Denver).

  • Natrone Means Business!

  • Thank you for this. Gosd i been wanting to c highlights of this guy forever. the most explosive rookie ive ever seen, bar none. the guy was incredible

  • Great running back with a great offensive line. Little mack truck was hard to tackle.

  • 3:34 - 3:43 LOL you gotta love that!!

  • Natrone Means is one of my favorite Chargers of all time. He plays with a big heart and San Diegans appreciated everything he did during his time as a Charger.

  • Untrue. That was the original footage from ESPN, recorded on VHS and later copied to my computer and then to the web. I didn't modify the video speed in any way.

  • Intentional or not its running at a higher speed

  • @joebarnin

It also looks faster because of the crappy quality of the video.

  • Prolly could beat LT in the 40 with those wheels and was hard to stop. (only super bowl appearance with this dude) nuff said

  • @steelcool20 I don't think he was faster than LT, but I'll bet he was the fastest 250 lb dude in the NFL lol.

  • Man... it would be sweet if we could draft a guy like Means again in a couple years when Tomlinson's time starts to wind up.

  • 3:18 it was after that game that the NFL implemented instant replay

  • 3:08 omg that was unreal

  • Yeah, Means drags that DB for about 7 yards before the guy falls off... lol.

  • First, GO HEELS!

    Second, What a great o-line!

    Third, what a beast!

  • Grew up watching Natrone with my parents(big Chargers fans)... Been trying to remember his name forever, and just found out tonight. Guy was such a beast. Hard to believe a guy that size could run like that.

  • I never realized how fast natron was...beasting on ppl...from SD to Jax to CAR...

  • He was one of the most explosive rb's it was a shame how he fell off reminds me of jamal anderson of the 98 falcons who had amazing seasons to get their teams to teh superbowl but came up short and were never the same

  • true. i remember how good natrone means was, but man he wasn't the same after the the superbowl lost. he was with the jaguars, had 1 good season but wasn't the same.

Jamal Anderson was getting better and better and had a great season in 98. following 99 season tore his acl and came up not the same.... career ended short... sad man. sad...

  • Natrone...Means...BUSINESS! That was one of my faves from Berman...

  • Why did he fall off so quick after this season?

  • life of an NFL running back one day ur here nxt day its over

  • The following year he held out of Training Camp over a contract dispute, then pulled a groin and missed most of the second half of the season. The Chargers released him shortly after the season ended. He signed with Jacksonville and had a good two-game playoff run, but mostly he backed up Fred Taylor. Unfortunately, more injuries followed and he never returned to his former greatness.

  • HE WAS A BEAST!!!!!

  • Yes he was. Chargers 4 life!

  • Natron Means is was no joke, O! & Dolphins all the way.

  • can't wait for the season to start up again chargers all the way!!

  • I see a mix of Maurice Jones Drew and Michael Turner in this guy. Like a shifty little bowling ball that can shed tackles as well. I hope that Gartrell Johnson, our RB draft pick from this recent draft, will be at least be able to shed tackles like Turner with his speed, get some short yards in short yardage plays, but hopefully be also shifty. I'm hoping to see some Natrone Means in this guy.

  • damn I was the biggest chargers fan back then. 6th grade they went to the bowl. I didn't realize natrone was that fast....sheesh

  • When the Chargers beat the Steelers in San Diego in the '94 regular season finale, the Steelers had home-field advantage locked. The Chargers had to win that game to get the #2 seed and 1st round byr or else they would have been playing the Dolphins in Miami in the Divisional Playoffs.

  • NaNa... Wish we had the old guy back! The Pro or X pro is some what of a jerk! Thanks for forgetting who your real friends were!

  • You can use Natrone Means "Business" in All Pro Football 2k8 for the xbox 360. Draft a team of legends and go play. Better than madden trash

  • whats the bomb been up to lately?

  • i go to school with natrone lol. he's in my math class and sits right next to me, he's a real cool guy

  • he is grown he is my cuz

  • nate is my cuz

  • Straight power & speed

    dudes deadly

  • Dang I miss this guy. What an amazing football player!

  • 1:46 that man is a beast

  • Natrone Means Bussiness

  • Natrone Means Bussiness

  • Natrone Bomb was a beast, he was a tank, get of of him son...

  • That was SICK how he tore up the Chiefs at the beginning of this video. Sad to see the Chiefs defense hasn't improved much since then.

  • Mo Vaughn and him are Spaghetti Monsters.

  • This clip means business.

  • Just picked up this guys throwback. One of my favorite players when i was little.

  • Great power back. Closest type of dominant runner like that today is Brandon Jacobs or Michael Turner.

  • Had one of the best football names.

  • damn... i miss that guy from the 90's... classical player...

  • This guy used to be my favorite RB, 5'10 245lbs and quick as hell...dream running back

  • Growing up, Natrone was one of my favorite running backs to watch right up there with Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, and Thurman Thomas. The guy was simply amazing!

  • How many years was he with the chargers? dammn he was fast for his size

  • Ya, kinda like a Maurice Jones Drew.

  • Man, Natrone was a BEAST!!!! Killin them at Central Cabarrus, as a UNC Tarheel, and also in the NFL as a Charger (San Diego),Jacksonville Jag, and also some w/ Carolina. Did some coaching with Livingstone College and also West Charlotte High. He's working with Jonathan Stewart of the Carolina Panthers, through the minority caoches program, so be on the lookout for him...

  • Natrone Means Business , Thats a line I cant forget lol

  • I forgot how big & fast he was.

  • For all those that have followed his career since Cabarrus County Optimist Club PeeWee football through Central Cabarrus HS, UNC-CH and the pros - THANK YOU!

    That's my boy!

  • I need Mr. Means official page. His agent, Chris Fewell needs 2 contact me. (Chocolate Submission)myspace

  • HOLY S**T he is big as hell at 1:28, he's very agile though

  • UCLA Bruins....since you have to know. Bitches.

  • Wow, thanks for the memories. I was actually at most of the charger practices that year. Al, Nate, dennis gibson, Rodney harrison's like 2nd year. My boy Vaughn Parker. They are all gone now. David Binn is the only charger left from that season.

  • Needs more Alfred Pupunu pineapple drinking clips.

  • Means was a bulldozer!!

  • this man is coaching jonathan stewart from the panthers.. whom i think are alike, interesting....hmmmmmm

  • If only we had a Natrone Means time back now to go with LT. Turner did that while he was here.

  • One of my favorite backs of all time

  • I loved Natrone and all, but I have to say LT>>>>>>>>>Natrone Means.

  • Well come on dude of course LT is better, he's already one of the all time greatest running backs and he's only played 7 seasons.

  • LOL I love the NFL Primetime Clips... do you have any old episodes?

  • thats my cousin

  • The Chargers had a winning team but as soon as Booby Ross left they went into a downward spiral. Now, we have an even better team not because of the coach but because of the the GM.

  • Nice.

Great moves for a big man.

  • let go in 1995 due to a technicality.broke his foot and hayden ran wild the rest of the season.they cut natrone and kept hayden.hayden was one of the worst runningbacks we ever had.besides the defense in 1998,natrone was the only bright spot in a bad ryan leaf rookie season.

  • he was a great player, he put in some good work in SD an J'ville! hes a football coach in north carolina now

  • Always fell forward when tackled.

  • 49ers killed the Chargers in the superbowl that year 49-26

  • in the 5 superbowls the 49ers were in,the chargers scored the most points in those games against them.plus they faced the best 49ers defense they ever had.

  • correction I'm a diehard Niner's fan and I'll say that the '84,'88, & '89 SF SB Teams had better defenses all around and in the statistic book.

  • '84 defense was much better than '94. '94...they were good because that offense was freakin' electric. Much easier playing from ahead like that.

  • Not really.

1984 offense was outstanding itself and had a far superior running game, which controlled the tempo. The 1994 defense scored 10 TDs itself.

  • Mostly from teams being forced to throw from way behind. With the exception of Deion's TD against the Saints...most of the scores were cosmetic. The '94 defense could be moved on when that lights out offense even stalled in the slightest. Examples being the Philly, Detroit, and that great Rams game on Sunday night when Flipper Anderson torched Deion. But the offense scored so frequently, that the other teams became one dimensional. The '84 49ers usually had to play teams honest throughout.

  • The Philly game was a complete meltdown on both sides of the ball. I think you have to throw that one out the window as it wasn't an accurate representation of what that team was.

The offense was less than stellar in both meetings with Dallas that year, but the forced turnovers were the difference.

  • Well they played great in the regular season game. But they gave up 28 pts in the NFC title game and one of those TO's was on special teams. If Dallas didn't screw the pooch in the first 6 minutes AND Emmitt doesn't pop his other hammy, the Cowboys might've had a more realistic chance. But like I said...you could move the ball on that team. Most teams just got down too far to play balanced

  • Anyway, having seen several of the 1984 games in recent years on DVD, I'd classify that as more of a "bend but don't break" defense. Few realize Dean missed 3/4ths the season and Lott missed 4 1/2 games with injuries that would lead to the end of his time at corner.

  • Lo Neal & Turner put together

  • BEAST! Still got his college jersey!! (Tarheel)

  • 4reel man i got his charger jersey im still tryin 2 get my hands on his college

  • damn I dont even remember where I got it...Check out some college online stores that sell jerseys...I really dont remember. Old skol

  • hell yea i got barry sanders college and pro and walter paytons pro but u got means mane thts rare

  • most underrated RB ever.

  • the guy rushed for more then 1000 yards ONCE. He is rated right where he should be.

  • That would be Ottis Anderson. Over 10000 yards, Super Bowl MVP. No one ever talks about him though

  • I still got this guys jersey!!!

  • me too :O

  • Natrone Bomb!! How was his YPC only 3.9 that year? This is almost all long runs!

  • awesome, i love natrone

  • I enjoyed the hell out of watching Natrone run, I've got a game worn jersey from him actually. Thanks much for posting, I drafted him as my 2nd RB in '94 in fantasy football and ran away with the league.

  • you actually played fantasy football with paper and pencil?

  • natrone > lt

  • Natron Means "Means Business!" Great vid of an awesome rb.

  • Not Bad, does he still play? Great Vid.

  • He retired in 2000. After the great 1994 season, he got hurt in '95 and was never quite the same. A runner like him takes a lot of hits - they usually don't last too long in the NFL.

  • thnx for da answer...

  • i was just thinkin about this cat yesterday. cool vid. thanks.

  • simply HUGE!!!!

  • Nice! Thanks for posting.
