  • great song

  • Oh what a voice ! I know it's a love song , and it's BD's , But this is George. Love it.

  • Mickeymousebiker1.. It is a really sweet gesture to dedicate this song to your late wife..

  • The Song is well done,By George.

  • @Mickeymousebiker1

Since you're stealing George's song and dedicating it to your wife, I'd like to dedicate your dedication to my wonderful dog. His name is Hans, and he is a pug.

Now: I would also like to dedicate James Cameron's film Titanic to a parrot I used to have named Stevie. My shitty neighbor's pit-bull ate Stevie; that bastard dog. I dedicate Leonardo Dicaprio's ice cold death (you know, the end when drifts into the water and dies) to that murderous pit-bull: I hope he's in dog hell!

  • I dedicate this beautiful song in VERY loving memory of My Heavenly- Resplendent Wife, Barbra. Barbra, I pray and hope it is you, and no mere angel, who comes to take me to Heaven (to be with you Forever)! We were together for only two years before cancer stole you away from me. I miss you beyond words. I love you beyond Space/Time. Barbra Jean "Rose" Ragan (June 23, 1967 -- November 21/22, 2010). Thank you, My Barbra, and George Harrison, for teaching this world about TRUE BEAUTY and LOVE!

  • All I can say now, is that my belief in Bob Dylan as a songwriter has just 'shot up' --now, it's astronomical (after all, it was there, before). I thought for decades that GH wrote this song. It's a phenomenal thing, when a songwriter/singer writes a song that suits his/her intended singer so much. Sorry @randlec6 and @nafaidni, but, I HAD to KNOW. I hope you will forgive me for being wrong and needing to find out the truth. I hope we are still 'friends'.

  • @randlec6 *face palm* You were correct, and I was wrong I did more digging... How could I have thought that all these years? Perhaps it was because of GH's sweet melody. I don't know. However, I DO know, it's good to know that there are authentic YT'ers out there, like you, who persist for the truth, even though some of us are obviously ignorant., especially when we honestly don't know it, ourselves. Thanks, for helping me to get to the truth--tis ok that BD wrote it--I 'love' him, too.

  • @randlec6 Still 'friends'?

  • @tomcardello Not a fan of Dylan by any means, but this is a fine song. George's ATMP version is one of the best songs on one of the best albums by any artist at any time.

  • Just listen to that voice! Damn!

  • this song <3

  • Some people just have that something that takes your breath away. I was listening to this, reading comments, hadn't really looked at the picture, then I scrolled up. The beauty in this man's face made me gasp. George is my favorite Beatle, there's something about his face that pulls at you. He may not have been the 'cutest' Beatle, but the most beautiful, definately.

  • yes people he was a good man everybody who still likes him put like and i will put videos of me playing songs of him

  • Aah...sweet George and his unique voice.

  • I like George so much. Awesome tune. Great choice for upload.. Cheers!

  • Dylan and George !!!

  • Lovely.

The demo for the "All Things Must Pass" album.

Great cover version - I prefer it to the original by Dylan on "New Morning".

  • It's not that wrong to love the man who's saving my soul.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Bless you my friend and thanks for that..

  • Love these demos!!! So unspoiled. Thanks for posting. :)

  • If not for you-might never hear this audio-I really wanna thank you so-I'd have had nothin to do-if not for you--lol, Thanks

  • @brozzoable

it's a song by Bob Dylan featured on his album New Morning. The song also appears on the compilation album Biograph as well as Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II. The song was also covered by George Harrison for his 1970 solo album All Things Must Pass

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Actually, this song was written by George Harrison, and played with Bob Dylan for The Concert for Bangladesh, and several compilations after. Don't beleve me? Then look to the HBO special of George Harrison's life. A dialogue with Olivia, George's widow, confirms if. Or, you could go to Wiki Or, you could searh the internet for a real version of this song. I'm glad that Dylan decided to cover it. Peace

  • @MicroWorldLover

This song was written by Bob Dylan...

The song George wrote for Dylan was "Behind that Locked Door". I recommend you listen to this one too. Very nice melody.

  • @nafaidni *face-palming*.... How could I have missed that? I did some (deeper) checking: you are CORRECT, and I am not. This IS a Bob Dylan song. What was it, about this song (other than George Harrison singing a great, non-BDesque melody) that led me to believe that GH wrote it? Thanks for the education, nafaidni. I'm in you rdebt. Seriously. I'm indebted to all who 'typed in'. Did Bob ever record this by himself? So, what is Olivia Harrison talking about, in the biopic?? Humbly, MWL

  • Harrison had s many wonderful musical friends. Dylan, Clapton, the other 3 Beatles, The Traveling Wilburies, etc, and so much great music was made by rock N roll royalty when Harrison was around because he was humble enough to bring people together as friends, not stars

  • Harrison and Dylan played this live together at The Concert For Bangladesh once- it was amazing.

  • Going to play this for my gf =)

  • He was the most talented of the three, and had the best voice imho.

  • there were 4 of them.....

  • @naisammon there was 3, and a very lucky drummer

  • @bigshoes1233211 there were 3, and a very underrated drummer.

  • @bigshoes1233211 rain, she said she said, strawberryfields, helter skelter, a day in the life... ringo was an amazing drummer

  • @bigshoes1233211 Haha! Well that's debatable...He would come up with some extremely interesting-if minimal-rhythms for a lot of songs.

  • LittleHarrisonGirl,

I also am an old timer Beatles fan and George Harrison devotee....46 years and counting.

I thank you so much for sharing these acoustic versions. I love hearing George's voice so pure and clear...so healing to my soul! Thank you.

  • I love you George, to day, tomorrow and forever, my magic man, I love you so much

  • Thanks George! Tú no estás muerto. Tú vives y cantas con tu guitarra en mi oído izquierdo y tu inolvidable voz en mi oído derecho! Te amo!!!!111

  • Yes, God bless George. I've always loved both George and Bob. Also, many people love Bob Dylan's voice as well as his poetry, with it's expressive quality and often, it's velvety smoothness. Listen to "Never say Goodbye", by Dylan as an example. Nectar. Why be nasty considering Bob DID write this song? This intro says: "This is a rare demo version of the song BY George Harrison", when the song clearly is not "by" George. Be fair please. Why insult when there should be repairs?

  • Yes, I'm very happy now. Thank you much. :-)

  • Yes it is a Dylan song But

George does it so much better

Dylan is a great song writer

    but should never had sung

what a crock he is with that straining voice

    God bless George R,I,P

  • Maybe you can fix that intro that says this is a song by George Harrison seeing that Bob Dylan wrote it. Would be nice. Thank you.

  • Yeah but there is a bootleg version of Dylan that came before that though I think. Anyways if you write the lyrics it's your song! I think George does a great job and maybe better than Dylan but it's still a cover.

  • to the people below george harrison did not write it bob dylan did! George harrison is great but this is a bob dylan song....

  • This is a Dylan composition, but it's a George song - Dylan didn't release his version until 1971 on the New Morning LP after giving this song to George for ATMP.

  • awesome!!!

I often like his acoustic versions better than the originals.. (while my guitar gently weeps)

  • To bearswilleatme (6 days ago) George Harrison did not write this sond as you insinuated. Its Dylan song

  • co-written sir.

  • the brains of the beatles I think. a master at writing a good simple song that speaks to everyone.

  • George Harrisons voice suits this song so much! Love it

  • @Kafe420 Yes it does.

  • I LOVE the Beware of ABKCO bootleg - I listen to it often. It's like sitting down with George as he runs through some songs. Wonderful! I miss you, George!

  • I listened to an interview that George did re the songs on this album. He said that Phil Spector had a tech set up a mic, which George was not expecting, and didn't really think much about it...Now it has turned into a wonderful remberance for his fans...wish I could find it somewhere.

Thank you Jeannie for sharing it with.

  • i'd fuck george

  • Love this. Who or what is ABKCO?

  • try wikipedia ;-) ABKCO Records

Love & peace & remember George

  • Allan B Klein Co. the person who managed the Stones, who,at Jagger's suggestion was appointed, by contractual obligation, to straiten out the biz affairs of Apple. Klein was miserable scum, who basterdized the Beatles work only for his own gain contributing to the legal battles which ultimately caused the demise of the Beatles.

  • I heard when brian epstein met klein, he wouldn't shake his hand. True?

  • It was not at Jagger's suggestion, I am sorry I stated this. I do believe Klein was the inspiration for Sympathy For the Devil.

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • Hi Little Harrison Girl.

Thank you for sharing these jems. I have been a Beatle/Harrison fan for 44yrs. Guess you could say I'm an old timer Beatles fan. I grew up with them, first saw them on The Ed Sullivan Show. What magic they had then and still have today.

Not to show you up or anything but you do know that "If Not For You "is a Bob Dylan tune. George did it so well on "All Things Must Pass." He reallly loved Bob. Anyway, thank you for being here. You're a jem.

    Take care,

    Randy

  • @randlec6 Not to show YOU up, or anything, but George Harrison wrote this song. George loved Bob.

  • @MicroWorldLover

Not to show YOU up but,,, Mr. Harrison did not write this song, Bob Dylan did and that is FACT, not FICTION.

    Have a good day!

  • @MicroWorldLover

All information on "If Not For You" that I have found, including you tube verifies that Bob Dylan wrote this song. This is the last time I will respond to your foolishness.

    Bye now-

  • Someone in Memphis loves someone in New York, NY, and would like to dedicate this song to her for Valentine's Day 2009.
