TVE 2 used to be on ch E2 at Vejer de la Frontera near Cadiz but it closed I think in the late 1970's due to "interference" I think. All the DX blasting up from Africa no doubt.
I remember receiving Moroccan TV in Spain with a VHF aerial in the mid 80s, with 2 channels coming through strongly. So you would be right in TVE no longer having VHF allocations due to interference from the North African area. since they used that band.
I had seperate tuners one for vision and one for the sound.
As i had sveral receivers i could check wether the sound carrier was present and as in a lot of cases the sound was not there.
That's the thing with sporadic E very often you can receive perfect pictures and no sound.
Thats why the picture fluctuate and loose definiton because we are only receiving part of the bandwidth and the sound carrier being 5.5 mhz above the vision carrier it is the first to go.
My assumption is that this was either the last of the VHF transmitters before it all went to UHF, a "ghost" carrier from UHF or this was for a small area for the north of Spain. Maybe aimed at Andorra? Also was their sound or not enough signal to receive it?
As far as I know, TVE 2 never had a repeater on VHF, but I'm not sure... perhaps as radioredcat says it was a wrong testcard for TVE 1 or one not listed as you say

TVE2 on E2 was transmitted by Santiago. Another OM told me that.
The transmitter was closed by 1990.

I think they probibly put the wrong test card on as it was definitely received in band 1.

so this was recorded on VHF band? Very strange, because TVE 2 was always called "UHF"

Was it maybe a low power repeater by TVE2, which was not listed everywhere?
