I think that Lenny should have marked tempo a bit quicker (at least in the 1st section). It's Mahler, not a Brucknerian scherzo :S

This theme reminds me of the first theme (after the "jumping" entry) of his 1st symphony's 2nd movement; sounds as if he'd composed a chromatic variation thereon, then turned it into a proper theme of an another symphony's another movement :)
