I remember seeing this on adult swim one night, then the second night. I bought the whole series before seeing the rest. Its very enchanting, I recommend it for those who like to think about their anime, instead of watching two people smashing each others' faces in for 13 episodes.

You guys keep saying this show was cancelled. It was never cancelled. They did two complete airings of it before taking it off the air. The series was only about 13 episodes long. There was never a season 2. What people think is season 2 is really the OVA which is only 4 episodes long. Plus there is another Kikaider OVA/movie which they never aired in the U.S. Someone has it on youtube, but it's only in jap and they only have the last 3 of 4 parts.

OVA means Original Video Anime. It's another way of saying direct to video release. For anime, OVA's tend to be a side-story that is nonrelated to the main story. At least not directly.

Kikaider is based off of an old live-action japanese TV show from the 70's, Jinzo Ningen Kikaida. It has nothing to do with Cyborg 009.
