This psalm was read at a ceremony honoring my Uncle in a cemetery. It had been ten years since he passed away, and the family gathered for this anniversary.
We're singing this song for choir, I am so excited! I love this song so much! We're really getting it down, and we are all 9th grade! My choir teacher has done this song before at other schools and she has had to hire a professional oboe player, but this one girl in my class is doing it, and she is really great, well you guys sang this very well and has made me look forward to singing it even more! Great job! The oboist was great also!!
@musicguy904 wonderful observation and comment ... it is a remarkable piece of music and so well matched to the text - the darker parts are dark and moody, the joyful parts are bursting with light and harmony. I love it too. glad you found it. Happy New Year!
@Ramaqueende13 Breathtaking is such a perfect description -- I'll bet your performance was wonderful! Several years ago I was privileged to sing the Rutter Gloria in concert choir -- it was an unforgettable experience.
My Mother passed away this morning at 12:05 AM. My aunt posted this to Mom's Facebook Profile. How great. Mom, we love you. Go faithfully, good servant.
@tpr5101 I'm so very sorry for your loss! I"m sure your mom leaves behind a legacy of love. No doubt she is in the loving arms of her Creator. Prayers to you, I hope you have many wonderful memories to sustain you.
@Link4681 Thank you so Much. Mom was a lover of music. This was especially reminiscent of her because she also loved clouds and rainbows. Her favorite song was the Rainbow Connection, which our family sang to her at the funeral. She is resting in peace now. Again, Thanks!
@Machonny One more thing... This might be a bit bad for you but... how did she actually die? Oh good now I feel stupid; I'm very sorry if I'm hurting your feelings
@tmwhalen63 Oh... Like I said, I really hope you can get through this major loss; Cancer is such a terrible thing, so hopefully your family feels better seeing that the suffering has finally ended
@tmwhalen63 ... My own mother died of cancer many, many years ago ... I was 9 years old. God Bless your mom and your family; I hope you are all finding comfort and peace.
Our senior choir did this last year for our speech night performance. I'm not a religious person at all, but this is such a beautiful piece of music.

Rutter's Requiem is in my top 3 favorite pieces of music and The Lord is My Shepherd is so sacred and divine to me. Thank you for this video!
