  • Why didint they bring gear in???

  • I saw the Vulcan in Chicago at the Air and Water Show in 1977. It flew directly over our little sailboat and I remember when they firewalled the power levers. I swear our boat almost rattled apart! It was great.

  • What do Port Stanley and Mrs. Spock have in common? ;)

  • @ larwenful

  • @ lawrenful Btw that's obvious especially if your into your planes and half the uks people would know that without having to research it

  • @theeviltwaz the british do still make aircraft because im sure rolls royce have a plane called the dreamliner or something like that?

  • @kiwisnowy Yes the British do still make planes, not like this Vulcan though. The Dreamliner you're thinking of is the Boeing 787 Dreamliner which comes with an option for Rolls Royce engines. Rolls Royce have been at the forefront of jet engine technology since the 1940s but they've never made planes

  • would you believe this is a 1940's plane?!

  • it takes off very fast...amazing aircraft, it's a pity that i have to destroy it in my ps2

  • I have refuel a couple Vulcans on Guam in the late 70s. She is a great and beautiful bird.

  • I love the vulcan. I understand it performed poorly during the falklands war, but i still love it. It looks so great.

  • wow wat a landin ..i goin southport tomorrow this is gonna be there i will post a vid

  • INSIDE NEWS: The Vulcan To The Sky Trust are submitting a bid for a Harrier Gr7/Gr9 in order to keep one flying! We must keep British Aviation Alive.

  • 0:18 super guppy in the back ground

  • I have been in that beauty!

  • Pieholekid r u for real????

  • What a plane!

  • if a vulcan crashes in the war it would kill alot of pepole because it can carry a nuke

  • @pieholekid The vulcan has been out of commission for some time in military terms so the chances of this are kinda slim

  • @pieholekid nah.. nukes are designed to only explode when dropped, they can't explode if crashed.

  • Must have been one hell of a day!

  • looking foward to seeing this today over the beach at Margates big event.

  • @JamesBrett2008 shame about the crazy weather before it

  • @markjohnlewis yea i saw that curtain of rain coming past Reculver all the way down then the wind suddenly picked up at the light house lol. the arrows looked good against the moody sky on sunday aswell!

  • This aircraft is proof that Britain could (and can) rival any feat of engineering our rivals have to offer. The V-bombers, TSR-2 (shelved for the F-111), Concorde, the Harrier and the BAC Lightning, were unique. Shame we almost aren't allowed to produce our own aircraft (or any other feats of engineering) any more.

  • Man we need to get these back into service.

They'll soon get rid of Gaddafi

  • such a short take off!!!

  • Great aircraft, beautifully flown. That landing was so good, I bet the crew never realised they'd actually toched down!

  • she looks awesome, hoping to see her in flight tomorrow when she flies out from Robin Hood airport on a test flight. missed her at Waddington!

  • My Dad flew in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and I can hear him comment on this landing that they "painted it on the runway". Very nice and Thanks for sharing it!

  • And to think SPECTRE downed one of these just for the warheads it was carrying! What a waste. LOL.

  • I used to live under a regular flight path of these beasts (not a state secret I may be a bit old one of the greatest childhood memories which got me into Airfix models) wish I could have fixed a nut or bolt on this one but we didn't have superglue back then....

  • it looks similar to a eurofighter in design apart from that its like 10x as big, and ofc its a bomber.

  • When I see it and hear its engines and size a get goose skin,.......

  • What replaced it...The B-52 is still being used...

  • For an aircraft without 'burners, it's damn loud and I love it. There's something special about these big cold war bombers. Vulcan, B-52, etc. You get that special feeling looking at them, like you can almost *feel* they're from another era. Just like WW2 aircraft. Puts a slight sense of awe in you. Here in the US I drive past one on permanent static almost daily, but I'd love to see one fly.

  • @hectiky The UK no longer operates a strategic bomber force, as far as a I know, so nothing replaced these aircraft.

The Vulcan first flew on 30 August 1953, and was involved in the Falklands War, flying missions in May 1982, and remained operational with the RAF until March 1984.

The UK's nuclear deterrent is now purely naval, comprising only SLBMs; we have no nuclear bomber force anymore, nor any ground-launched ICBMs.

136 Vulcans in all were built.

  • @flygweilo You meant to reply to deetjay, right?

  • @hectiky Correct ... my apologies. :)

  • i live by air base i looked up this incredible howling sensation because 2 weeks ago 2 vulcans flew over my home with the howl (luckly i knew they were coming and got them on camera(will post later))

  • @1kelseysmith That is quite a claim! Isn't this the only one flying?

  • @1kelseysmith there isnt 2 vulcans flying

  • Had the pleasure of seeing one of these fly over at the Cleveland Air Show in the late 70s.

  • See about Tupolev Tu-160. Amazin plane)))

  • See about Tupolev Tu-160. Amazin plane)))

  • German project.

  • @mann8942 See Tupolev Tu-160 and Tupolev Tu-144))) Theese are the sme planes but first is strategy bomber but second is civil plane for cargo and passengers transportin)))

  • @Panch124 Pardon not sme but same)))

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Brilliant!

  • The 3 Noisiest aircraft ever built, in order:

#1 - Concorde (way ahead of the rest)

    #2- F4 Phantom

    #3- Vulcan

  • @hammerogod I've heard the F-4 Phantom and RAF Vulcan many times. The RAF Vulcan is louder than the F-4 Phantom on take off close up.

  • @hammerogod BTW I'm not even British and say the Concorde,Vulcan,B1 Lancer, and Valkyrie are the loudest I ever heard.

  • @BBQFanNo1

There are several aircraft that I never worked with so I am more than willing to take your word for the noise levels.

I did work with the F4 and Concorde and all I can say is that the noise stopped being and actual sound and started becoming a physical sensation if you were close enough, which I was.

An F4 in afterburner from 10 ft away could make your nose bleed.

I regret that I never got to see the B-70 on the flightline.

I love all those noisy beasts.

  • It is a British Bomber not a Fighter just as the American B1 Lancer is. They are strictly used for Bombing combat. The British and U.S. alright had Fighters that could do the job alone without needing Bombers to do the Fighting. The Bombers took care of the larger potential danger on ground that could be deadly for the Fighters,Servicemen, and Allie Civilians they were trying to protect.

  • To think there was actually a Vulcan up till 1965 that had 4 Afterburning Rolls Royce Olympus Jet Engines. It was cancelled in flying service in 1965. I wonder if the same type of Afterburning engines were transfered to the Concorde?

  • @BBQFanNo1 Sort of, the Vulcan did test the after burning Olympus in the early to mid Sixties. A single engine was usually mounted where the bomb bay would have been, its was tried in a few configurations, one of which blew up (taking the aircraft with it) and another catching fire. They did however get it to work in the end, even doing wet-weather tests via a sprinkler pointed into the intake. Impressive, not to mention ground breaking stuff really..

  • Had the priveledge of seeing the Vulcan and all the best loudest Aircraft since 1967 take off demos at Air Shows. The Valkyre,Corcorde,Blackbird,B1 Lancer,Vickers,Tomcat,Tornado, and an Old Canadian Hercules JATO Demo close up which was even a lot louder than the Fat Albert demo. these Aircraft on take off from the closer distance than they allowed years later were the loudest mother fuckers you ever heard.

  • 2:45 saddam hussein kills him self

  • 1:56 saddan hussein realises that the detonation went wrong

  • I saw it a Shoreham .......... a very beautiful aircraft. It was like a superb sculpture moving in the blue sky ....... majestic.

    ..... so keep it flying!!

  • what a beast!

  • uk and us shouldnt fight they should be allies forever!!

  • @TheMafiamobster Amen to that. The United Kingdom,United States,Canada.

I miss the days when these Three Countries were allied against Enemy Arab States against Israel,Germany,Soviet Union,Eastern Communism,Etc

  • One of my Fabourite Planes ever, I remember being little and seeing one of these take off at an air show, used to love how the engine noise could be felt through your body, Epic! awesome video, brings back some good memories

  • Gear Failure?

  • Now that is a is what I cal a plane!

  • I was born in England and emigrated when I was 6.......but i can still remember seeing the Vulcan at an airshow 1973.....surely one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built.

I also remember a high speed run from a Lightning!!!!....awesome

  • @Aussiephil99 I remember watching it back in June 1973 at an Air Show too along with Canadian F-101 Voodoo seven minute demo, immediately followed by Canadian C-130 Hercules JATO demo close up, then just before the last demo by the RAF Red Arrows demo team the RAF Vulcan did a ten minute close up demo.

The Voodoos,Hercules JATO,and Vulcan were the highlights of the Air Show. The weather was superb sunny clear blue skies and hot all afternoon.

  • I saw one of these on the tarmac when I was a kid at an airshow down in Cornwall in the early 90's. I was only like 4 or something at the time but I remember going up some steps to look inside the cockpit and wanted one lol. I think that's where I found my love for Airfix models haha.

  • 0:15 Super Guppy FTW!

  • damn, i like this beautiful plane.

  • looks like a pterodactyl

  • You could feel the heat of the engines of the Vulcan from a thousand feet away, no shit.

  • Always a "show stopper" at any airshow.

Great to see this beauty in the air.

  • fucking beautiful

  • I used to work the flight line at Midway Island in the '70's when the Brits and their Vulcans would stop over.

I remember the first time that I saw one as I was waiting to direct her in. I was looking up into the clouds when this huge delta wing beast emerged as if magically from the clouds. At that point did I realize the immensity of the aircraft.

The crew pitched her nose up and poured on the coals. Windows shook. The station CO was none too happy. I used to enjoy the Brit crews.

  • @Wonderfulness Did they fly these in during the mid-60's too? My grandpa was at Midway.

  • Amazing landing, right on the centreline too...

Aside from that, it's brilliant to see such a magnificent plane flying again.

  • Comment removed

  • Any of those things ever crashed? They were carrying nukes weren't they?

  • @monkeyman1140. Not really in anger. I belive aircraft with nukes were not allowed to fly unless they were going to drop them

  • The Buddha's like "Shit, I missed it!!!"

  • Wasn't there a Vulcan Squadron with the saying, "There's Always Bloody Something!"?

  • I'm just glad you guys are on our side.

  • What a wonderful achievement! Seeing a Vulcan flying over New Zealand in 1956 was a key moment of my childhood... it's great to see this project getting the needed support.

  • That is one beautiful plane! Never saw any actual footage of a Vulcan before. Thanks, very nice. I think now my two favorite planes (of past era jets) are the Vulcan and the B-58 Hustler.

  • this plane looks better than B2..but what the hell is this freaky muslim guy at 1:59 there??...

  • @GRATZIANI2002

He's no muslim - he's a Sikh! They're allright people - pretty harmless and they've integrated into UK society a lot better than muslims have.

  • @flymajj ok .they look so muslim...

  • @GRATZIANI2002 You don't know the difference between an Indian and a Muslim. Get out of your country a little more often

  • @weenyone you right

  • What a horrible design.

  • @danieldeibler Horrible because it does work? Me thinks not

  • @danieldeibler.

What a horrible comment by a horrible person who probably has a horrible design too!

  • @danieldeibler I've seen it at Hendon and it is a thing of real beauty as my wife who has no appreciation of aircraft was very impressed.

It's crass loudmouthed Americans like you that have made people everywhere feel hostility towards Americans and when that happens you say its because the rest of the world is jealous. A polite person would simply say nothing if they weren't impressed but attention seekers like you stuff up the image of the decent Americans which is quite sad.

  • Fantasic , saw her at riat this year(2010). Beautiful.

  • Beautiful Airplane. Nice to see they have a flying museum. Would be nice if there was still a B-47 and B-36 flying as well.

  • someone told me they started the design of this plan in 1946.does anyone know if thats true because if it is I think thats amazing for over 60 years ago!

  • @joemel2. Yes it is true.

  • Even though it's old technology, it still looks more deadly than anything about today. A bomber that can be thrown about like a fighter even as it's taking off! Hope it thrills the crowds for a long time to come. I take my hat off to those people who got it back into the air.

  • @Snedger it probably would not be able to be thrown about if it was armed with bombs

  • 2:55 what a perfect landing:)

  • I have always loved this aircraft.

  • so glad they restored it, it was very important to the community of aviation enthusiasts and to the legacy of the aircraft

  • This is a magnificent aircraft. Gives me goosebumps

  • xh558 the nations babe!!!!! (if you like aircraft).... and i doooo

  • awe-inspiring masterpiece.

I wish they'll paint her in "anti-flash" white of her delivery flight someday

  • @vaxiawval. If you wanna see that give Vulcan to the sky a million quid please!

  • @planeboy737 as soon as I can, no doubt! till then I'll enjoy it the way it's. It's beautiful enough!

  • A definite candidate for THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AIRCRAFT to ever take to the air...

  • Amazing to think that this aircraft was on the drawing board about 5 years after the end of WWII

  • @weenyone Old comment, but meh lol. We had a golden age of aircraft design after WW2 don't you think? Craft like these, the Buccaneer, Hawk Trainer, Jaguar, Tornado (granted more of a combined effort) and let's not forget the Harrier. No wander the Yanked wanted our engineers on their teams during the 70's and 80's for their "stealth" projects lol.

  • @killbambi87 what a twat. how is this plane new? its been around for about 60 years, how many planes have canada got that have been round for 6 years let alone 60

  • Nice video. Thumbs up!

  • lmfao! 1:57 - can you spot anyone suspicious?

  • @csczdust :L:L thats brilliant

  • @csczdust Booom!

  • One of history's greatest aircraft. I love the Vulcan. I got to see one up close as a teenager.A Vulcan had to make an emergency landing in Pueblo Colorado at the Pueblo Memorial Airport (PUB). I think I was 17 or 18 and the RAF had to bring in a replacement engine for the aircraft. It was great to watch it take off and give us a low pass on the airfield.

  • One of the more graceful jet powered aircraft ever

  • Very beuatiful

    Hail from Brazil

  • ето самалет? вы уверены что ето не утюг?

  • " Vulcan " now that gave people reason to dump aload in the grits. pitty we dont have them now! imagine the figher version.

  • i think its fugly :P

  • @TheBmxer6. I think your fugly

  • i am going to see xh558 in amsterdam :) 2010

  • @dudaPN She never went to amsterdam this year. 2009 she did!

  • The Vulcan effect- when it's flying, noone makes a sound..

  • Superb bird , very impressive !

  • Best bomber ever? It's beautiful!

  • vulcan is a great plane

  • Damn Brits must have HUGE balls,I mean painting a BULLSEYE on a FIGHTER PLANE!!! WOW guts a plenty.

  • @middsteve - that's because in the unlikely event we ever went to war against the yanks, we know you couldn't shoot it down ;-)

  • @digireedoo Nah our weapons just blow up the cubic mile of air the plane is in....that way even our H.S. dropouts can defend us( and quite well I would add).

  • @middsteve A cubic mile of air eh? Crikey, are you sure that is a broad enough tolerance? I'd say the Vulcan survival odds would still be pretty rosy........

  • @digireedoo Absolutely crackin' comeback big man well done! I remember seeing Vulcans at RAF Scampton as a little boy on holiday. My Uncle served there. At that time they were a sort of whitish grey. I found out later they were testing the engines for Concorde!

  • @middsteve

It was a Heavy Bomber, not a Fighter!

  • @kfozz GEEEEZ ok....fighter bomber.....my bad.

  • @middsteve

you got it buddy! (O)(O) big buggers

  • @middsteve 1- it's a bomber, not a fighter. 2- it's not a bullseye, its the international flight roundel of the RAF.

  • @middsteve Damn straight, balls of freaking Chromoly Steel.

  • @middsteve yes we brits do have balls very big balls

  • @middsteve The Vulcan is a bomber, not a fighter plane. Yes we brits have huge balls, balls of steel!

  • @middsteve well we are sporting chappies and its only fair to give the opposition a chance ...ask the germans :))))have a nice day

  • @middsteve I dare bet someone's mentioned this back in the list somewhere but the Vulcan's a heavy bomber not a fighter.

It's actually the 'plane that inspired stealth technology when the Yanks noticed it didn't show up on some of their RADAR systems during war games. It was solely by virtue of its shape with one large flat lower surface, more or less, similar to a stealth bomber.

  • @middsteve this is a bomber not a fighter

  • @middsteve It's a bomber

  • @middsteve We're British... pride, honor and bravery are all included when you are born British.

To be born English is to win first prize in the lottery of life.

  • @middsteve Fighter ? thats a Vulcan BOMBER.

  • @middsteve Same planes were called into action to Bomb Stanley Airport during the Falklands war....Read the Book Vulcan 607...those guys had guts....

  • @fireandsafety And were completely ineffective. It was a waste of taxpayer money but the RAF wanted their time in the spotlight. The SHAR could've done the same job far cheaper, and actually hit the airfield. Criminally mismanaged by Admiral Sandy Woodward.

  • My understanding from a senior team member is that Vulcan has about 4 yrs max befor it will have to be retired, due to another major refurb being required which will simply be too expensive, so make the most of it Ladies & Gents..

  • lets hope one day we can see the vulcan and lightening doing a flypast?

  • Despite not holding current pilots licence (damn colour blindness) nor being a LAME I have spent more than my fair share of hours stripping paint of ageing parts and searching for long out of date equipment. To all that were involved in returning this magnificent aircraft to flight.. A job very well done, just hope that this antipodean will get to see her in flight for himself one day.

  • Wow!

  • landing- MFS system, worked well, as lomg as a relay didn't go down!

    Big pitson the runway!

  • Nice short take off, there is one those at the museum in Mercedes California, exotic plane!!!

    Thanks for the video.

  • Idiot!

  • It's not ugly

  • 1:56 Oh oOHH

  • How dare you say such rubbish about Vulcan XH558 "The People's aircraft" WE DID RETURN IT TO FLIGHT and it's the most popular aircraft in the airshow circuit. VTS gets lots of money from the selling of memberships, and merchendise. So don't u dare say that it's impossible. We will reach our target. It is the people's aircraft. Yes it was too expensive to run thats why the RAF dropped it. LONG LIVE VULCAN TO THE SKY. U should be ashamed of yourself! Go and fuck yourself

  • @planeboy737 Do you have reasonable knowledge about thermodynamics, aerodynamics and fluid mechanics? Just asking ;)

  • I know a little on Aerodynamics but then i've only just left high school. But i do know a fair bit about the vulcan. Why do you ask?

  • @planeboy737 because you were stating, that "you" ("WE DID RETURN IT TO FLIGHT") have returned something to flight.

  • "We" the Vulcan To The Sky Club helped return this aircraft to flight by donating and supporting the cause. Your taking it way to literally.

  • @planeboy737 aha

  • @planeboy737

Whoever the person was that said rubbish about the Vulcan XH558 needs an emergency lobotomy done to them.

  • @planeboy737 Ignore the retard like ignorant trolls planeboy737. Don't feed those bad ignorant punk fuckheads.
