  • I recall that in X3, there's a scenario where Zero fights a special boss, and upon winning, he gives X his Z-Saber and no longer be playable. Will this hack change that or will it keep the event? For storyline purposes.

  • @AkaiAzul It still remains in-game. If you decide to get the Z-Saber, you do lose Zero. Same as it was in the original just you can play as Zero up until that point.

  • Maybe I'm incredibly incompetent, but I've followed the instructions precisely and I'm consistantly getting two similar results. Either A: The game will load the intro and boot up to the main screen, but upon selecting any option, it freezes; or B: The game simply does not load.

    Would it be possible for someone to simply upload the ROM itself to save others the trouble of needlessly going through what seems to be a slightly complicated process of running this patch?

  • @NsShadowSerpent Uploading a ROM itself is illegal. That's why IPS patches are used because it isn't officially breaking the law.

    I believe the correct rom though is something along the lines of "Mega Man X 3 (U)". So try to find that.

  • @emailme23 Actually. Uploading ROMs in itself is the most illegal thing you can do. You're wide-spreading the full product. Uploading patches is legal because you're only uploading the changes, not the entire thing. You've got the entire thing backwards, sir.

  • @Xjustin3009X If Capcom ever makes a Maverick Hunter X3, I'd love to see a Zero Mode where you can play through the game as Zero and get the Black Armor as his upgrades.

  • @Dinomonstercreator Between this current video and beta #9, there is a HUGE number of differences. A number of bug fixes, small extra features to differentiate the characters, events being split, etc.. Beta #9 was the last release for now. I'm slowly working on fixing the final bugs, which I'm hoping I can get done tonight. If not, it'll be a bit longer before the final release.

I wasn't really sure if this was 1.0 after the #9, or the very first build. Thanks for answering. I'll give this a try on Snes9x 1.53 on Wii and PC

    You'll have to download the rom, which I suggest you go to coolrom.com. and if you don't have an SNES emulator, you can do that too there. Then google search Translhextion and download it, followed by Lunar IPS. They're all going to be zip files and have to be unpacked. Once that is done, install Translhextion, won't take but a few seconds, open it, and open the MMX3 smc file in the program. Highlight everything before "78 18" and delete it, then save the file.

    Continuation: Close Translhextion. Open Lunar IPS (No install needed). Click apply patch, which you should have also downloaded, though I figured you already have. Then go back the MMX3 smc file you just edited and apply. After that, load it with you SNES emulator and it should play. I also have the file with everything done if you haven't yet and just want to get to the action. I could email it to you if you haven't done it yet. Pretty sure by now you've already done it.

  • I just rethought what I said with Zero's colors. Maybe the MM Zero color should be when X has all the armor parts, and then keep the Black Armor for when X has the All Mod Chip.

  • Wow, I'm glad someone is undertaking this type of project. I'll definitely play it. The only problem I have currently is that I need a external drive, but that will change soon enough, then I will DL this. All of the ideas I would have given have already been suggested and added. My only suggestion would be that Zero turns black when all of the armor parts are acquired, and then to his MM Zero Color Variation when X gets his Gold Armor. Look up Zero's MVC 4th color. That's all, good job.

  • nice. here's a tip: when zero gets the foot armor and dash up, make it the double jump. :)

  • @TheClone45 Been told that a number of times. I'll be working on making the Golden Armor have the Double Jump for Zero. Giving Zero all these abilities right off the bat would render X useless, something that shouldn't happen.

  • Gravity Beetle a weak enemy? Really? He shakes the world when he jumps and he has his famous SUPER STRONG GRAVITY WELL GOOO!!!!

    1. Download a Mega Man X3 (US) Rom

    2. Download Translhextion

    3. Open Translhextion and then open Mega Man X3 in it.

    4. Select the first 512 bytes. They should usually be 0's maybe mixed with a few other letters at the beginning.

    5. Delete those 512 bytes.

    6. Save

    7. Apply the IPS Patch to the rom.

    8. Run and Play

    for the future releases, I got a tip for you.

    If possible, make the blue capsules to x, and the enhancement chips for zero.

    and one more thing, the gold chip could give the black armor to zero.

  • I will say this. There IS a way to fix the sabre graphics glitch in this. Its easy to do when putting in PAR codes, and I've done it. It also spawns X having a BLUE SABRE when he has it. I like the blue sabre too :D Idk, if you can code something that will essentially do this but if you can it goes like this. Activate play as zero when level starts, Switch to X Disable the code move around for a sec, re-enable the code, then switch back then IMMEDIATELY Swing sabre with charge shots Ta Da.

  • How do I get this to work with my zsnes emulator?

  • 1:40 Zero needs to change colors when using sub-weapons, then it would be complete.

  • @ArcaneDragonX Zero won't change colors like X with sub-weapons. He's never been able to and won't in this game either.

  • Amazing, amazing concept. This really is the game that MMX3 should have been.

    On a side note, you're going to tweak the Z-Saber damage for the secondary bosses, right? Bit, Byte, and miscellaneous minibosses go down particularly fast to him.

  • Very nice! I wanted to do many of these same things for the Saturn version when it came out in the 90's. I managed some of them but you went much further than I did.

  • I noticed some little issues when Zero uses the other boss's weapons instead of X (their exit point being lower or higher than where Zero's arm cannon is), same as it was for when I had played normal X3 with a code turned on to always play as Zero. The "Ray S." and "Acid B" looked more like they were coming out of Zero's shoulder, lol. Also the charged "Gravity Well" would sometimes cause the game to freeze for me.

  • @WiiClassic2usb Animation errors. Those aren't fixed yet. I have almost all the areas found to fix them, but I'm missing one little bit to do so.

  • @Xjustin3009X - Oh and another thing, what version of the rom is this patch compatible with? I just tried to patch both the regular version and the 1.0 version of the rom using Lunar IPS and in either case it freezes permanently at the title screen no matter what I hit "start" on.

  • @WiiClassic2usb I'd have to check the version, but the issue you maybe having is the header. This is for unheadered roms only.

  • @Xjustin3009X - Okay, I used NSRT to remove the headers from both the normal common rom and the "1.0" rom, and then tried using SNESUTIL to patch instead of LunarIPS this time, in both patched roms I'm able to get beyond the Start Game screen now (although it seems to like for a few seconds after the big charge shot goes across the screen). Everything begins like usual, blah blah Mavericks blah blah, but when I have control and I hit start for the menu I don't see anything different...

  • @WiiClassic2usb ? There isn't anything really different in the menu yet.

  • @WiiClassic2usb Yes.  This is just a Fully Playable Zero beta patch. The story still continues like X3 but now Zero's playable fully and you don't have to use X if you don't want to.

    Later versions will have alternatives on who you play with. For now, this is what it'll be.

  • @Xjustin3009X - I'd forgotten that you had to press a certain button in the Menu screen to get Zero. Anyways, playing through now, nice that entering the Boss room is instant (with the GG code X would say he was taking over), also I'm on the Ice stage now and found the Air Dash upgrade, I couldn't get into the capsule from the left, so I tried from the right and it worked, but Light was still talking to X, not Zero. I have high hopes for whenever this project is fully realized.

  • @WiiClassic2usb Yea. That wasn't put in in the first beta patch. The next one will have documents released as well as some notes and dialogue for Zero in each capsule and ending and such.
