tommy the cat does use the high C string and low B string, but les plays a slightly diff version of it fit for a 4 string during concerts (BTW almost all CT basses are fretless). you can play it on a 4 string, but the original studio version uses the high C string so you dont have to use the heavier sounding e power chord. also les's little breaks during the riff needs the low B string, as well as the solo which needs the open B string
