Most anti-hunting, PETA types tend to think of themselves as liberated and educated people. I wonder if they realize that According to the theory of evolution, eating meat was the main contributor into allowing human ancestors to stand upright and enlarge our cranium. Generations of protein and/or meat eating habits makes the brain cavity larger. There's a reason why most carnivorous animals are typically the most intelligent animals on the planet. Oh well....there's no arguing with them.
They are a pest. On my Cousins farm in southern Iowa they just tear the hell out of the corn. They hate them and they get after them pretty hard during the deer season.
So my freezer full of meat is just for show? And I eat the meat weekly just to spite people like you? I smile in the pictures because it's the most fun I have all year and for the fact that I have some good quality meat to eat. Wild turkey is better than butterballs in the grocery stores and lean Doe steaks are about the best eating thing on the planet. Cooked rare with just salt and pepper to taste is what I call delicious. Plus have have been doing this since the beginning of time.
Some of my friends do it the way you just said but I never have. It is way easier to skin them "hot" I know but I just like to leave the hide on to protect the meat for transportation and so it will not dry out. Also if it gets say below freezing at night and above during the day the hide and hair acts as insulation to keep it from freezing solid. Because i have had them hanging in my garage for a week at 10-30 temp outside and they had only a little frost under the skin.
But they SUCK to skin when they are that cold. the does are the worst with all of their extra fat the lean bucks not so bad. I usually have a bowl of hot water to warm my hands up with while skinning or else it would almost be unbearable
Your right. In the year 1900 there were about 1000-2000 deer in Iowa maybe. Now there is over 300,000+(thats what the dnr says but it think there is a lot,lot more) all due to conservation but it does not matter to the crazy 'animals are people too" crowd. They are all just nutjobs.

There is a difference between hunting for meat and just killing animals. Hunters use the meat. Also if hunting wasn't allowed deer would become over populated and move into city areas running out in roads in front of cars causing accidents and killing people. Would you rather deer be over populating and starve to death and kill people by running out in front of cars in search for food?
