This is undoubtedly one of my most favorites of VEDA so far - you are so raw and real and vulnerable, and I couldn't be more inspired by you. You are amazing!
Also, I can completely relate to the being very aware of where I am in the universe, while no one else does so people unknowingly bump into me. Such a hassel ;)
Also, also - I read The Introvert Advantage, and I had the same life-changing realizations by the book. It's amazing.
1) This is super-courageous and makes me extra-proud to know you (to the extent that I do).
2) That description of introversion and your take on it are fascinatingly different from what I've heard before. I often think I would be better as a floating eye, because everything around me is interesting and beautiful and I want to experience that without distracting it with my presence.
3) I concur with mugsy1274 & others re: your pleasing appearance, having also spent many hours editing footage.
This is so beautifully honest. I think you're amazing and I so admire how eloquently you addressed this topic. I'm sending you a great big virtual hug :)
I'm such a weird 'extrovert.' People around people gives me energy. But, I am kind of shy and awkward...I don't think situations are made better with me. But, I need people around to feel my best a lot of the time.
If today's prompt tells us anything- it's that we all have imperfections and none of us really like it. What's great about you is that you are truly in tune with yourself more than others can say.
Also, I believe I already invited you to my birthday in a few weeks. I don't want anyone who isn't beautiful at my birthday, so now you know that it's not just from this video.
@purekatherine Keep me posted (specific time, location, that sort of thing). I'll totally go. And yes, I want to send shoes to you to be glittered, too.
I totally teared up watching this. Not because I feel bad that you feel this way, but because I know so little of you and I'm so incredibly proud/amazed that you could be so open an honest with the tone that you deliver this message in.
I have seen several minutes of your face this week, and I too can confirm the beauty in the way that those eyes and that hair come together with a nose I'm envious of and everything else on your face. Even those ears. I like your ears.
It may be that I have a thing for gingers, but I think guys would be a fool to not want you. And junk in the trunk is actually a good thing. Didn't anyone tell you real women have curves? :)
I can empathize with the disconnect between physical and mental/emotional/spiritual, though. I think that may be really common in this generation. So while I have no advice for it, you should know you're not alone with it.
i wish i had junk in the trunk. :( i am afraid i am going to inherit my mother's bottom....her back goes straight into her legs. (also, every time i have come across that article, i re-read it because it really speaks to me...perhaps in the same way it did to you.)
I'm pretty comfortable being an introvert, but I find it hard to communicate with some of the extroverts in my life that when I need to be alone, it's nothing personal. I really love the article you linked to. I come across it on the internet often and I always reread it.
re: Twitter. It's just a great place to talk to people!
I'm a massive extrovert but I can get really shy. And some of my favourite people in the world are introverts and their egos are so much stronger than mine. I think extraversion/introversion is more of a reflection of personality as opposed to character.
Also, I come across as very confident but I'm quite paranoid that people don't want me around. You just never know. And I'm very envious of you for being so sure of yourself!
I think most people have something or many things about themselves that they don't like. I can name 6 that I don't like about me. But my hubby loves everything about me no matter what I think. I think everyone is attracted to many different things, not just one body style or look. And personally I think you are beautiful, inside and out.
And finally...as someone who HAS stared at you over and over again (via editing various scenes/videos/etc with you, not creepy), i can assure you that you are amazingly beautiful. And I know this video is not a compliment-fishing technique, and this is not intended as a reassuring comment either. It's simply a statement of fact. Trust me. There have been plenty of faces in videos I've edited where I really did NOT like having to look at them.
Even with dyed jet black hair, Kitty was pretty :)
On a more serious note, here are a couple thoughts I have:
1) you're dead-on that doing a project like VEDA makes us hyper-conscious of appearance. You're staring at yourself, up close, over and over again...especially as you edit. That's freakin' hard on anyone's self image.
2) You are in an industry that is appearance focused. It makes it next to impossible to not think about. And not even so much about whether or not the image is "good", but whether it is "right" (con't)
@mugsy1274 ...for the role or the piece you are trying to portray. I feel like you & I might have gone back on forth on this on Windyhop before, maybe, about this idea that physicality matters in a role. I don't remember. It sounds like something we would have argued about :)
Anyway, that in mind, here is what matters. I can't imagine a Kitty that looks any different than the Kitty I know. Because the amazing and talented Kitty is what makes the outside Kitty look like Kitty to me.

I'm totally with you on all of this. Very courageous of you to share it, but I think much the same way in terms of introversion.

1. I'm an extravert but I don't think things are better because I'm there, I think things are better because others are there with me.
2. Physically, I think you're great! Eyes, hair, skin, figure, overall. You're so pretty. Oh! And can I say this? Great boobs. (I'm extra flat.)
3. My bf loves girls with junk in the trunk!
4. Yay for depth perception! I have only one good eye so I walk into door frames. Not people because I have a big personal bubble.

@mugsy1274 And the Dorothy Parker in me wants to know who you didn't like having to stare at in the editing room. ;)
