@tubiebrother Never heard that before and I even grew up in Brooklyn. Karen Lynn Gorney is one of the most miscast actresses in the history of films, imo. Anyhows, thanks for stopping by & learning about ESSRA MOHAWK, the most underrated of legends.
for some reason I'll never forget the day I heard THUNDER IN THE MORNING broadcast over WMMR back in the 70's..amazing...I just loved it and never forgot it.. Enjoy my PACK IT UP song..song about going home...everyone is determined to go home..so I also gave the song a determined sound...you'll see what I mean.. ENJOY!
i wanna know if someone have the song that appear on the very beggining interview... i guess anyone have cause essra have very rare material but... i will be appreciated
Thank you & the song at the beginning is called "Shaping The Night" which is a Peermusic copyright. Also,it's on my list of vids to post & Essra was kind enough to sing it at my wedding! Stay tuned...
Many people thought Essra Mohawk was a native American from the plains: Surprise! She played with Zappa and the Mothers and the Grateful Dead and hails from Philly. The name Mohawk comes from her husband. No matter: she's fabulous!!!!!
Ahoy, Mates and Pirates, is this interviewer Frank deFord? I thought that he was mostly a sports announcer, commentator. Shoot no T.v. here, I'm protesting the change;only listen to radio /puter. Jo
Thanks for sharing! Not only does she show grace under (Deford's) pressure, she still manages to tell her wonderful stories without faltering. She's funny, thoughtful, and always entertaining :-) Her comments on the then-current music scene reminded me of FZ's on a Larry King interview, where he referred to the popular music as being merely "product". True-er words were never spoke, even today! Loved the interview (or at least Essra's part in it LOL), and anxiously waiting for the last part!
Even today Essra does not look her age. She is just too cool for words. I met her and saw perform in the late 80's. What a nice person she was. I'm sure she's still that way.
Is it me or is there truly a correlation between the decline of true musicianship/well-composed music.... AND the lack of music-education in our public schools.
Her voice reminds me of the girl Stephanie from Saturday Night Fever

I COMPLETELY concur.

that's absolutely part of it, no doubt... I think the system only wants robots, where real musicians are creative souls, and free spirits
