Nice review. I loved the original Sega Rally, but I found the handling in this demo a bit weird, which put me off buying the full game. It's funny to think, though, that with this demo (two tracks, two cars) you're basically getting for free the equivalent of about half the content of the original Saturn Sega Rally (three cars, four tracks), which would've set you back about 40 pounds at the time. How the times change...
I brought the game the other day for like 8 to 9 bucks online a little hard to find game in stores i hope theres ppl online to play with how are thw sound engine on the cars?
i've play this game on PC. trust me, its not really a good game. its fuckin hard & the handling is too sensitive. i cant belive the old one is better than this.
Sega Rally 2 Championship is one of my favorite Dreamcast Games. Rally Revo presents several problems. Colin McCrae Dirt is several leagues higher in terms of gameplay and replayabiltiy. Tough competition. Arcade games should be short and fun. I was playing motorstorm pacific rim with a friend and it was about twenty minutes of fun. I think if a review is going to do justice to an arcade game it should mention the local two player action. I enjoyed the review.
Grooves are felt even on a keyboard and terrains really do make a difference. Cars get dirty with different kinds of dirt, water washes it partially off... great!.
It's a shame that Sega Rally Revo only runs at 30 frames per second on Xbox 360 and PS3.
It's ironic that the developers were inspired by the original MODEL 2 arcade Sega Rally, which ran at a consistant 60fps in 1995.
Only with the PC version of Sega Rally Revo do you get the chance to run the game at 60fps, if you have at least a decent, midrange graphics card. Console players are out of luck, they're stuck with 30fps cause M$ & Sony limited the GPUs to 8 ROPs and a 128-bit bus.
I am new to PS3 and downloaded the demo. I have always used a PC with mouse to play games and don't play race car games.
I watched closely how you drove the car because I am frustrated how squirrely it drives. You had the same problem. The wheels don't turn smoothly but in little jumps that causes me to over-steer and slam into walls. It is too sensitive and there is no setting to reduce the sensitivity. I won't buy this game unless I know they have a steering sensitivity option.
The Dreamcast was capable of a better version of Sega Rally 2 than it got. The DC version was rushed out and it used Windows CE, which does not allow programmers to get the most out of the hardware. Even if developers did a better job, an arcade-perfect port was probably NOT possible on Dreamcast because the arcade MODEL 3 board used a VERY powerful chipset by Lockheed-Martin:
Two Real3D/Pro-1000 GPUs, which are more powerful than the PowerVR2DC graphics chip in Dreamcast.
Good review, I think if you double-checked a few of the small details and made the review a bit more concise and a bit more flowing this would pretty much be as good as most professional reviews.
It's a real shame that Sega Racing Studio recently got closed down, as it's unlikely there will be any more Sega Rally titles now :(
Glad you've enjoyed the review and thanks for subscribing. Check back soon for more reviews and other videos. And do spread the word about my reviews. Thanks! ;-)
Stupid narow eyed :D:D ''CMR DIRT is more rally simulation game'' :D:D:D Its tupid arcade. Only good rallt game is RICHARD BURNS RALLY its told by many rally drivers !!
Well, if you personally like Sega Rally, then you're probably better off getting it instead of Colin Mcrae. At the end of the day, you'd wanna play a game that you like...
Well i have always been into sega rally, i have followed it through the very first day on the saturn and wasnt sure bout this version, cheers for the review at least its solved all my questions.
oh my all u idiots saying xbox 360 version is better i have a ps3 i played the sega rally demo n it was great hence y i have it ow i playe dit on 360 they r exactly the same they are just as gd as each other stupid fanboys
I hate PS3(bought it for 600$ and it broke first week of playing(one of the chips melted) so i returned the console and bought X360)but i love this game i have it for PC and i love the deformation
Hi pfg - Im a bit of an amature when it comes to gaming but just invested in a PS3 - really liked your review - in fact - it lead to me buying it haha. I remember the origional years ago haha!
Hi! Wow, I didn't know I would make such an influence with my videos, haha! And that's cool! I hope you're having fun with your PS3. Though there's not many games now, but the big titles will come soon enough. Consider subscribing if you like my vids, thanks! :-)
Cool. But do take note that whatever I've captured of the game are recorded with a video camera pointed towards my monitor. So it doesn't really do the game justice as far as graphics and sound is concerned. For that reason, if you personally think it looks better than the other platform, it most probably does. Head on to a game shop and check out the game... :-)
I will say that I didn't enjoy the demo at all. The final, full version is quite enjoyable and you can actually feel the difference driving in the deformed tire tracks when you're playing on the 360 version. It does make a difference. I played with 6 people online yesterday and it has collision detection, and very good netcode.
Coming from a hardcore American gamer of 23 years, I must say listening to your opinions and talking about a game's history is really intriguing. Normally, I want to skip through reviews but yours, I actually listened to it all. I'm about 60% done with Sega Rally Revo on the 360 and I'm really impressed with it. It FEELS like a real Sega game - especially its environments.
the resolution wasnt great for me as i play on a 150"hd projector 1080would of been a better res for me certain textures seem blurred and washed out.but its a fun arcade rally game, not a sim ,yet theres certain simulator aspects in it.if they dedicated to being on or the other i think the game would have been a much better product.
Thanks, I'm absolutely flattered. Although I'm not a professional reviewer in the sense that I don't do it for a living, I definitely hope someday I will though. But part of the journey is to garner viewer ship from people like yourself and subscribers to get myself some recognition. So subscribe to show some support guys, thanks again! :-D
Like I've mentioned in the review, I personally think Dirt is more of a simulation and Revo's more of an arcade. So it really depends on what kind of style the player is going for...
i have played DiRT for the 360 and it looks REALLY awesome. looks like Revo is gonna be good, too. if only i had a PS3...... keep it up and thanks for the shoutout!

There's not enough dirt in Colin McRae's Dirt.
Rally Revo has plenty. It's no sim though.
Grooves are felt even on a keyboard and terrains really do make a difference. Cars get dirty with different kinds of dirt, water washes it partially off... great!.
No car damage, no getting stuck/out of the track.

lazy programming @ sega rally 2.. the dreamcast is more than capable of matching graphics with the arcade version

It's true. But I think they want to keep the market to the arcade instead of the console. It's all depends on the market.
