On her Wikipedia page is says "she grew up listening to gospel music, was not allowed to listen to what her mother called 'secular music', and attended Christian schools and camps." What happened..? This is so beautifully unhindered. To me, it looks like she is truly surrendering to God here; not only in her words, but, I believe, in her heart. None of us are perfect. No, not even close. We all screw up.. And the only one that can see our hearts fully unconcealed is the Lord. So who am I to judge? I just can't help wondering where and when the disconnect was when watching this.. It's not like her performance here was simply that. It was so much more: it was worship.

This breaks my heart! You can see her heart crying out through this song. And in the beginning when she is revealing her heart behind writing the song I think it answers so many questions of why she is who she is now. She wants to experience EVERYTHING only the decisions that she has made she will be accountable for. I am deeply praying for her life and for her heart as well as for her family. I'm a Christian and I love both her old and new self. Maybe God knew what was best for Katy and guided her to where she's at now? Maybe she got sick of the restictive life that was allowed her by her Christian upbringing. On her Wikipedia page is says "she grew up listening to gospel music, was not allowed to listen to what her mother called 'secular music', and attended Christian schools and camps." She may be writing all this pop music and dressing so provacatively because she's grown up and now she's doing what she never could before. If she really wanted to become famous (nothing wrong with that) and have a big following, Christian music isn't going to get you there. Just because someone sins doesn't mean they aren't a Christian. If this were true than being a Christian is about us earning our salvation. It's a free gift of grace in spite of our sin. Every one of us is completely sinful. Katy isn't trying to fake spirituality but is honest about her sin. It was the sinners he ate and showed favor to. The religious people angered him. He is a God of love and mercy. May we never think of ourselves as more "deserving" of His grace than Katy. Grace is undeserved

@jamesdoezie You are completely missing the point. The difference between the saved and the lost is not sin. That's absurd! The difference is conviction of sin (guilt) through the Holy Spirit. Katy lives a life with a career based on immoral things, and is obviously enjoying it, and traded her faith and her morals for money and fame. That is what she cannot be a Christian. Christians sin, but they don't trade God for what their sin brings them. Understand?
