That caller was a bit frightening if you ask me. People like that are the reason children must be protected from crazy religious parents that will follow anything they are told. Mix in a little schitzo "god told me to do it" and you have a parent who kills all their kids one sunny afternoon. I think religion sometimes encourages people to seek god instead of seeking a trained therapist so no big suprize that things like this do really happen.

The caller's assertion is ludicrous. If it were true that we would all just rape, steal and kill without GOD (presumably the Christian version,) then how come atheists make up a smaller proportion of the prison population than the population at large? How come cultures that have no Gods, say animist cultures for example, don't have high crime rates? Nonsense. Morality is partly innate, partly cultural, and with some people, RATIONAL.

If they cant trust their own judgement in life (which invariably they do really..i.e. choosing which bits of the bible suit who they are...i.e. personal interpretations!) then I would say no, christians feel inadequate when it come to making decisions. Discuss....

If that is your phylosophy then imagine what others can choose. All religious texts have evil within them...but then I guess your "judgement" overlooks that.

Is it not just who you are? Nothing to do with what the religious text say.

 You can read ANY religious text and find something that suits who YOU really are and just do your best to ignore all the negative.

The book is not correct. Do not fool yourself just because it makes you feel better. Why is only your book correct? Why not the countless others? You cant believe them all.

Believing in something which cannot be proven does not make your status any less. It does, however, limit you on your understanding of where you are in the universe.

Evil passages..... Slavery, gays, women, revenge, stonings, hell..Just read it fully and you may begin to question it's usefulness in modern society.

Do yourself a favour before you fall head long into this.......research who actually "wrote" the bible and what year they did. Also look up who decided what went in the bible and why they chose what they did. It WAS NOT written at the time of jesus and what went in it was not either. Please do this otherwise you will waste you life on this planet.
