@Ffiti2 No, and the fruit order is Cherry, Strawberry, peach, peach, apple, apple, melon, melon, galaxian, galaxian, bell, bell, and then key until 255. 256 is supposed to be another regular key level, but then an error occours and it "tries" to display 256 fruits, but alot is displayed as code.

@CzechRiot No, all the best players are pattern players. Its not cheating. Its the only way to reach the last stage of the game or to just be a really good player. You can only get so far playing freestyle. Also, learning to be a pattern player makes the game ten times funner! And you will still have to freestyle from time to time so its fun doing both. So learn some patterns and you will have Pacman fever!

the game does not register collisions when pacman and a ghost turn in two different directions at the same corner

This bug is caused by the collision detection being done on an 8x8 grid, and when the Pac-Man enters a ghost grid at the exact time slice the ghost enters the Pac-Man cell they will pass without contact.

me too, it seems that this glitch occurs when you go through a corner. heres proof, on a game of ms. pacman i have it shows tips on it. one tip says "ms. pacman can go faster at corners and when not eating dots". It works on this and on that so i think thats how the glitch happenes.

Going through ghosts has nothing to do with which way they are looking, the program checks for collision every ? milliseconds, you go through them if you happen to slip by at the right time when the program is not looking :) You really cannot know until you try, there is about a 3%-5% chance(estimate) you will go through a monster if you charge him. I created this pattern using mame I just looked for more cool possibilities until I found the right ones, definitely a little luck involved. DAS

Have you heard this one? "Pac-man can pass through a ghost unharmed only the split second his mouth is closed." That may fall into that 5% chance.

I was a pac-man freak. I used to go thorugh ghosts on accident at random points. Geeks used to tell me that you could do it if the ghosts were looking away from you. I recall friends used to be able to do it on command. Is it a wink of an eye and it's missed? How does one determine it's safe to go through?

really amazing, when i was around 15 I managed to get to the 23rd key using my own patterns to clear around half of the dots. Now I am playing it again with mame learning new patterns. I know. i play it on 360, the d-pad sucks so i use the analogue stick, there are various hori joysticks though that i hear are pretty good

Dilone8, you don't know what you're talking about. This isn't just some cheap emulation trick on a computer, this is the real deal. This is the original version of pacman with no cheats. The glitch of going through the ghosts is due to precision timing.

No Dilone8, the glitch is possible even in a straight line. I've seen it done, it has even happened to me a couple of times. It's rare, but happens and happens predictably.

The only way to prove this to people would be to do the pattern with going through the ghosts, then let one fo the ghosts get you normally to show they CAN kill you. I never seen this glitch or trick, but I believe it.

I know it *looks* like a cheat, but it's actually a "sploit" -- at the advanced levels the game runs so fast that the program glitches on what's called the "collision detection" function (in other words, the program is fucking up its own ability to recognize when Pac-Man collides with a monster).

Sure it is known that once in a while you can go through a ghost, but in this case it's so fucking obvious to me that this guy is playing on the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator using a fucking invincibility cheat to show us the 9th key pattern! DUH!

This is one of the best 9th key patterns i've seen. I have done this on MAME Pacman and it works. You go right through the ghosts, pretty cool. So this isn't a 'cheater' pattern or video. ITS ALL GOOD :+D
