I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
@pinkbum1 You probably just get a dumbass 2L that we all know it burning oil. just get a decent german car and you wont have this problem. If you doesnt have a 2L you dont know how to drive your car to keep a motor in godd shape or have a bad car technician. You just doesnt have any knowledge and bullshiting about anything. just get a life please

It's closer to ~315hp @ crank. You're going to have less than a 20% drivetrain loss. Still...not half bad! Sounds like it has an aftermarket exhaust though? Or a muffler delete?
We took the cats off and put a straight dual back. i have a dual O2 sensor for an SMT6, but we haven't gotten around to the install etc (just never enought hours in a day).
Very sharp. If you happen to have any extra parts available, let me know! I'm working on a '79 - seeking all the usual stuff (Euro S cams, Euro intake, etc). :)
ok - well, the red 1986.5 is for sale; come and get her! LQQK at user = "PorscheMark69" as he turbocharged his 928S and she'll put out 400-450rwhp to the ground!
It is the standard stock V8. we took the catalytic off, and it has a straight dual, with a crossover. we did the changes Friday night, and did not have the time to tune it before the dyno days on Saturday, 10am. She took 3rd place, behind a 911turbo, and a 1986.50 928. OH - there was a turbocharged Lexus SC300 there, that put out 570rwhp!
Hmm, stock eh? this engine from Porsche? if so, think it might fit in my 944? I've been looking for something abit more... well... a whole lot more powerful than the I4 thats in it. if the V8 wont fit, any suggestions, sites, etc?
Ya, no kidding, I just saw one the other day... uhm, can you say HUGE! LOL still freaking love it though, especially the one in this vid, it barks at you LOL!!!
From what I heard, the 928 v8 Jetronic from the early 928 (1977 - 1982, 4.5l - 4.7l) would actually fit in a 944. I even heard that the 944 engine actually take more overall space.
As for late engine (...-1995, 5.4l) really not sure if it can fit.
Oh my O_O might you know anyone that has done this conversion? I'm ever so curious to see if it has been done... then again, I'm almost positive someone has done it already, just may not be known lol
I've heard of people putting LS1 Corvette engines in 944s, but not 928 engines. From what I heard the 928 engine was basically cut in half and put in the 944.
About the space issue of the 5.0 and 5.4; the block was the same all the was through. They only changed the stroke and head (valves), and actually in it's latest form the engine still had another 0,6 litres to go in it's design.

1985 Euro Porsche 928S, 5 speed.
stock, 266 rwhp which in Texas on a hot day, is about 325-335 hp.
^ that sentence makes no sense
flomracing 3 years ago
266 rwhp (to the ground) is about 325-335 hp (at the flywheel). The 1985 Euro (I believe) was rated at 310 hp (flywheel).

Put a 928 V8 engine in a 944 car :) The 928 engine is half the size of the 944 car.

no the 928 and 924/944/968 engines were separate projects and are not related

The 83-86 euro 928S was rated at 310hp,right? I heard that they are more like 330hp,which goes with what you're saying.

My 83 928S used to do that with a test pipe and Borla catback! Sounded amazing, too.
