  • as soon as a random video is somehow related to mlp, it WOULD be flooded with pony comments

  • -jaw drop-

I came here because the music was pretty.

LITTLE DID I KNOW THERE WAS A PONY REFERENCE.

  • I want this video on my D515 phone.

  • This video went viral on North Carolina

  • Oh, and I thought there would be the piece of music from his speech in the end of the movie. I swear I heard that somewhere the last few days, too (and the last few days I was like watching... oh...)

  • speechless purely amazing

  • We enjoy this... "King's Speech."

  • @fizzypopism I never said it was realistic, but I prefer to have a glass half full approach.

  • Ffffff - I knew the music in that Celestia bit sounded familiar for some reason... The fun has been doubled!

  • Desplat + Rainymood = Heaven on Earth.

  • wow ponychan brought me here too :D

  • Awww yeah Ponychan sent me here too

  • My word... I am happy-surprised to learn about this little tidbit of pony trivia. :D

  • Bronies? Here? Oh hell no... -Picks up rifle-

Oh wait... I'm one of you guys...

  • @Lockelve I haven't given the series a go yet. I think I'll probably become one of those few female fans nowadays.

  • @Lockelve people are commenting about the prescence of bronies, grab my shotgun... we have some non-bronies to pop.

  • MLP:FiM Wiki sent me here: 1 more thing the bronies have conquered! Prepare for the fan art!

  • Ponies were here

resistance is futile, you will assimilate into the herd

  • @aboo612 LOL what? why are you guys talking about ponies here?

Don't tell me there was a reference or something O_o

  • @Yaenipponcover Aye. One of the last songs in the latest episode started off with almost a carbon copy of the piano at the beginning.

  • @Yaenipponcover

yup. the song was played in the background as the princess pony had a sort of speech.

    everything will be ponified.

  • LOOK OUT INTERNET. FIRST STAR TREK. THEN STAR WARS. NOW THE KING'S SPEECH. EVERYTHING IS PONY. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Now, in what episode exactly was it featured?

  • @Atvishees Season 2, Episode 3, ~19:45 in.

  • @HavazikFerric Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • @Handagotes lol I didn't expect this kind of comment to be here xD epic!

  • @Handagotes why?

  • 0:41 So Elfmanish ...

  • @ 2:00 it sounds like runescape music!

  • i got shivers by the first 10 seconds of this masterpiece :)

  • Alexandre Desplat is amazing. He is one of the best composers of all time! His music makes me smile, or cry, or feel really good, or dream!!(including the harry potter tracks♥♥♥)

  • This piece nearly brought me to tears. Seriously.

  • who would dislike such an awesome piece =.='''

  • perfect *--*

  • OMG IT SOUNDS LIKE GOODBYE BY AIR SUPPLY!!!! D:

  • It's one of those films where, as a male, you think "nah, I'm not going to like this. It'll be a stuffy period drama and much ado about nothing." Then, you watch it, and it is just delightful. Really uplifting stuff. As much as I liked Up, yeah I'm glad this won.

  • can someone tell me where i can find the score of this wonderful soundtrack???

  • @winnie060891 Yes: buy CD's with Beethoven's 7th Symphony (for the second movement) and of the same Beethoven of the Coincerto Nr 5 "Emperor's Concerto", again 2nd movement, "Adagio un poco mosso" for the final (the piano, while the credits are running). It cannot be understood how they can fit is as sound track for this movie, which however is very good.

  • Comment removed

  • 0:40 to 0:50....magic

  • Not only did this fit the film excellently, but I... just... like it!

  • This music is just beautiful. One of my favorite composers was Maurice Jarre with all the David Lean pictures. This and a single man are really great. Alexandre is easily the Chopin of the 21 century.

  • @j0287garcia For Pete's sake, to elevate Alexander Desplat to Chopin's level... just because of some small-time thrumming on the keyboard. The significant music in this film's soundtrack is that lifted from Beethoven. To make such a comparison is the same as putting Dimitri Tjomkin, Ennio Morricone, Basil Poledouris, Louis Bacalov, up to the same level as Brahms, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Tchaikowsky. All very good writers of music for movie soundtracks, of course, but there is an abyss...

  • @Gheorgyi Good comments! I really enjoy Morricone's scores.

  • Ok, an ok film - but the score - it makes no sense.

Why, when he is delivering his speech about England would you play Beethoven's 7th - a symphony that glorifies German militarism.

Just another example of the ill-informed, mindless, overly emotional world we live in.

Anything that makes a big noise is important.

  • @tmorinelli I don't think I understand why use of Beethoven's 7th at the end is bad. I highly doubt Beethoven was a supporter of Nazism" It overall enhances the speech, in my opinion. It signifies the challenges that Bertie must overcome.

Well, it's not my place to judge your opinion. Just throwing my own out there. :)

  • @tmorinelli ...I understand the noise part..when i watched Black Swan the music was so loud and overdone...really i hated it. (But ended up disliking that movie anyway)...And about the german military thing..well its very dissapointing when the meaning behind a beauty is bad, but look at it this way now people will always see this piece as "The kings theme"'...its the least they could do. : /

  • @tmorinelli music has no boundaries, therefore, no nationality.. we listen to a piece of music because it is harmonious to our ears and we love it.. if you truly love music then you shouldn't give a rat's ass about the country it does or does not glorify

  • @tmorinelli Actually Beethoven's 7th symphony glorifies the looming defeat of Napoleon.

  • @nschuehly I - Initially, LvB gave a political meaning only to his 3rd S., composed "to celebrate a great man's birthday" as symbol of the democratic principles of the French Revolution. which LvB fervently adhered to. When Napoleon made himself an emperor (1804), LvB indignantly tore up the first page of the score with the denomination "Heroic".The 7th S. is dated 1812, the year of Napoléon's defeat in Russia (the battle of Waterloo would take place only 3 years later).

  • @tmorinelli I'm sorry but I think you've just missed something. First of all, Beethoven died BEFORE Hitler was even born. Second, Hitler and other dictators USED classical music for their own goals, AGAINST the composer's wishes. Take Russia for example. Any idea why great composers like Rachmaninov moved to the US??? Ding, ding, ding. Stalin of course. I would advise you to learn your music history properly before putting up comments. You'll end up getting complaints like this one.

  • @TheChazzer66 The main reason for Rachmaninov leaving Russia for the West actually was the attraction of well paid concerts. Born in 1873, by 1909 he was already acclaimed and sought for abroad (his concert nr 3 was performed by him, with Gustav Mahler as conductor, in New York; the concerto nr 2 pre-dates 1900). The Russian communist revolution of October 1917 was the final factor in sending him out of Russia, via the Scandinavian capitals. Stalin did not take control of the USSR until 1922.

  • @tmorinelli actually right before and during the early part of world war two, the nazis and germans were actually quite fond of the british.and vise versa. they copied alot off the british. so tthis works

  • @theotherguy245689 Yeah, the relationship beteen British and Germans has always been of the "love/hate" kind. After all, the House of Windsor (called until 1917 "of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha") was renamed by royal proclamation (George V) due to the anti-German sentiment in the United Kingdom during World War I. May we know what was it, exactly, that the Gerrmans "copied off the British"?

  • @Gheorgyi movies pretty much. and adapted alot of culture 2

  • @theotherguy245689 Well man, if you think the Germans have needed at any time to learn "culture" off the British, you are of couse entitled to your opinion,,, as far I knew, it was the other way around.

  • @tmorinelli LvB's 7th S. had nothing to do with German militarism, much less it glorifies it. However, it cannot be seen why the 2nd mov, 7th S.; and the p.f. "adagio un po' mosso" were used for this film's soundtrack.

  • @tmorinelli I agree the 2nd mov. of LvB's 7th S. is not apt to being part of the soundtrack of this film; but the notion that it is a glorification of "German militarism" is absurd. There could be no one more adverse to militarism than he was. That movement was in exaltation of the Austrian people's opposition to Napoleon (in 1812). Gerrman militarism, as at the times of the Nazists, favoured more Wagner, especially the Walkürenritt (I guess they identified it with the rolling of their Panzers).

  • Ravishing music for an entrancing movie, excellent! -_-

  • the best dramatical movie of the year . bravo

  • There's a reason why Desplat, Josh Kramer, and Rachel Portman have the highest playcounts in my itunes library- their music has such emotional depth. Lets hope that in 100 years, someone in a music history class will be reading about them instead of Britney Spears.

  • @SudsontheRoof

Agree! Or Justin Bieber for that matter too!

  • @SudsontheRoof "Your" itunes library? what importance can it have??!!!

  • @Gheorgyi I knew there was a reason I seldom leave comments on youtube. Thanks for helping me to remember why.

  • @SudsontheRoof Accommodate yourself, mister.

  • By the way what's this track called?

  • @Winduct

    ...

    the king's speech

  • @keesvdijkhuizen I apologize for the obvious. Thanks anyway.

  • Every score that was nominated is well deserving. Each soundtrack captured the movie perfectly and people need to stop saying one is better then the other. This movie captures pain that the king must feel with his speaking problems. While The Social Networks soundtrack perfectly captures the emptiness that Mark is shown to have. Each soundtrack is very deserving of an oscar, and it's great that they all got nominated nonetheless :)

  • This music represents a king so damn fine...

  • this is what caught my ear from the start when i went to the film

    just beautiful =)

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • This is great, but The Social Network soundtrack did deserve it.....it is so unpredictable

  • i want someone who's an expert in music composing that would be able to convince me 'the social network' deserved the oscar this year for best score, i'm sorry what was beautiful about that soundtrack?

  • @animeheartofpassion

There was nothing 'beautiful' about The Social Network's soundtrack at all. There was practically no melody to that soundtrack. Just goes to show you that sometimes people are recognized for things they don't deserve...

At least The King's Speech is officially Best Pic of the Year...

  • @karik333 for a film score to win an oscar or deserve it, it does not have to be "Beautiful". it is not about the beauty of it, but if it makes the film stronger and enfazises the emotion and, at the same time, if it "ads a new character". It doesn't take beauty for a soundtrack to be the best of the year, that dependes on other things

  • @Ghulyen

That's rather what I meant to say. The Social Network's sountrack added no emphasis or "a new character" to that film. That movie in itself isn't really that great or inspiring...

  • @karik333 Social Network may not be a inspiring movie, but it is really well filmed. But however, I agree with most of you, I think King's speech's OST is a lot better...

But it doesn't mean that SN's ost is that bad...

  • @animeheartofpassion I didn't get it either... But I haven't seen The Social Network, either... So I figured I must be missing something.

Personally, as much as I love the King's Speech soundtrack, I wanted Inception to win the soundtrack one.

  • @maricimo You are so right my friend. The inception soundtrack literally brought me on the verge of tears. It's so good! Should have won!

  • Am I crazy or does anyone else her Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake??

  • @luxuryxkill you're crazy

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you cheered when The King's Speech won Best Picture at the Oscars!

  • @peanut3423 I ran around screaming with joy when Tom Hooper won.

  • Not me. It was a decent movie, but was nowhere near as deserving of the Best Picture title as Toy Story 3 was @peanut3423

  • @peanut3423

i guess you dont care....but personally i was pissed....the social network and black swan were totally robbed...I guess all the fuzz about that movie was cause in a society were to be normal means to be perfect the fact that a story show us the hard work of a men trying to be just normal touches your heart but it was the the best movie of the year in any manners.....

  • @peanut3423

little correction:i wanted to say it wasnt the best movie in any manners....

  • This better win. But I'd be fine with "Inception" or "The Social Network", really I wish all three could win "Best Original Score". They're all brilliant films with brilliant scores.

  • It will make it at the oscars.

  • Pleasant enough but I cannot understand why this type of modern music is suddenly hailed as 'classical' - supported of course by Classic FM.

Classical music, strictly defined, means music produced in the western world between 1750 and 1820.

Should we have another name for the more modern stuff?

  • @oakwoodbank i think it simply means the style and the sound of it...

  • @oakwoodbank

    Orchestral

  • @oakwoodbank Classical is the usual name given to this type of music, because the only other name given to it is Western Art Music.

  • @mickyj300x It's technically "neoclassical".

  • This was my favourite!

  • If you have a good ear for music you can tell the association . With one Composer to an Another. Which is fine because they all work together. Movie Scores are what keeps a lot of talented musicians going. Everything that we buy or sell is based on Maths and Music. And Heavy Industry.

  • Desplat rocks!

  • StutteringDoctor com

Hello! I have found out that almost all people who stutter have weak throat muscles, because they are not used properly. This can be fixed with certain exercises. For more information visit: StutteringDoctor com

  • This music added a lot to the film.

Music gives films an added depth.

This piece portrays to me a extravagant wonderful life with dark depressing burdens.

  • i fell for this song ...... straight!

  • @sydneysu123 WHAT is it, exactly, that you classify as a "song" in this soundtrack??!!!

  • awesome!

  • after this year with this soundtrack and HP7 im now a massive fan of Alexandre Desplat

  • anyone got sheet music? (piano only)

  • the first thought that came into my head while watching this film: what a lovely song this was.

  • @griphonus98 not necessarily, they could have heard the music from the film and looked it up, then after hearing this piece, they could have fell in love with it, thus fell in love with the composer of the music. That's why they then liked my comment

  • @griphonus98 - People tend to like comments that they agree with, therefore by common sense, they also love Alexandre Desplat. ;)

  • So deep and romantic. Thanx

  • its a really good movie,l well told, and brilliantly acted, isn't the first bar of music from Les Choristes-Pepinot?? Type it in i may be wrong. Fab film though!

  • Black Swan is a great movie artistically speaking, but The King´s Speech artistically and in cinematography WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best of the year... Runner up Black Swan...

  • Black Swan is a great movie artisticly speaking, but The King´s Speech artisticly and in cinematography WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best of the year...

  • thanks for uploading this :)

  • I cried while watching the film especially the scene where he told Lionel about his nanny... I love the film now I'm torn between it and Black Swan!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing soundtrack to go with a beautiful film, loved it!

  • Fantastic Movie and Stunning Music

  • I cried . Extraordinary !

  • Buenísimo!!!

  • This is an amazing piece of music! I love Alexandre Desplat! I've covered this song on piano =) Check it out if you want!

  • Amazing... :)

  • I may be stating the obvious, please be kind if so. I am certain that "The "Emperor Concerto" was used at the end to emphasize that King George VI was certainly the King or Emperor now. Wonderful soundtrack full of pleasant surprises that where very appropriate.

  • can anybody please tell me what is the name of the music which lionel plays to bertie and tells him to read while that music was being played to bertie's ears?

  • Give him the Oscar already!

  • i loved and hated this opening scene. it was so beautifully done but so agonising to watch. it perfectly catches that feeling of stage fright. a wonderfully directed film.

  • @roloug95 I almost cried. Especially when the crowd at Wembley all stood up at once... I couldn't help but gasp a little bit imagining what he was going through. I was so grateful when they cut off his speech each time to save him the embarrassment. Made the speech at the end all the more cathartic.

  • @LFZ15 too true

  • And unfortunately he lost the Golden Globes few hours ago.

  • Saw it for the first time yesterday and I'm already thinking I can't wait to see it again. What a GREAT movie!!!!!!!!! Loved hearing Beethoven at the end. Perfect.

I saw The King's Speech with several other people, of different ages (very young to very old, with myself in the middle) and we ALL loved it. No demands for money for the candy bar, no bathroom breaks, we were ALL enthralled, which is unprecedented in my recent memory.

  • How about my movie about LOU LOU the Stuttering Boxer I! It was the price of The King's Speech lunch budget... SAVE IT ON NETFLIX under it's title RevoLOUtion so we can get a better license fee!!! It's already on there but not avail... we released it experimentally (free)in NY/LA, now i'm tweaking it, hopefull shooting two more scenes in spring summer 2011 - I look forward to your comments - and if you like you can comment on the additional scenes we are shooting at facebook under LOU LOU

  • i went to watch this last weekend and it was so so good. so impressive. geoffrey rush and colin firth both are such talented actors. no words. i just hope colin get the oscar finally, it would be a great reward for all his maginificent career.

besides, he's s lovely man:) (and handsome.)

  • Wow, never expected to get a response, let alone such a quick response. Thank

you sooooo much. Loved the film, loved the music. Great true story portrayed

to remind us of history. Carol, Columbus, OH

  • Who is the composer of the music played while the King gives his speech declaring

    war on Germany????

  • @halmahouse That'd be Ludwig van Beethoven. Symphony No. 7 2nd Movement.

  • such a beautiful piece.... i couldn't help thinking about the score all throughout the film.

  • @BaremyiahZ lol he has been working on it

  • I really hope that Desplat finally gets his Oscar

  • @yonythemoony let's hope not; Oscar's are not a guarantee for quality and they are usually given out by fools whi cannot judge good films. occasionally they may give the oscar to the right film or the right actor, composer or director but it's all just a big show. marlon Brando for example never picked up his Oscar for The Godfather because of the shameless mistreatment of American-indians by the film industry. And once you are in the Oscar crowd they'll give you awards for anything without due.

  • @Regenmacher175 That doesn't mean that Desplat doesn't deserve it. Same thing with Giacchino, Williams, Shore, and other good composers.

  • @Regenmacher175 Just because Brando didn't go to pick up his Oscar doesn't say anything about the Academy not honoring his performance. He won, he just chose not to accept it.

  • @Regenmacher175 so not true.

  • My favorite composer - Absolutely!!!

  • Alexandre Desplat Rules!!!!

  • I love Alexandre Desplat

  • @MrHPsauce01 I totally agree: he's amazing!!!

Let's see if he will win his first Oscar at his 4th nomination (and this is the 3rd time in 3 years he is nominated, after Benjamin Button and Fantastic Mr. Fox: the 1st nomination was for The Queen 4 years ago).

    Go on, Alexandre Desplat!!

  • @MrHPsauce01 Is a Clasic Music in a new century.
