hes alright maybe not a beginner but not an expert and guys there are some conditions which require fast baits i caught a four pound bass on my third cast during a cold spell about 50 degrees so dont doubt a fast bait

duh i fish em all the time and that high speed spinner bait/trap retrieve he's got going 99% of the time yeilds zip for fish. i live in the same town as mike long and have ben fortunate enough to ask for a few pointers

@satchfan2323 Damn thats lucky. Mike long is a living legend and im counting on him to bring the record back to the us. I also dont fish those hollowbellies super fast like the video most of the time but of course mike long isnt going to because a big 10 lb+ bass just wont spend the energy to chase it. Thats not to say that its not an effective retrieve ever. In the video he said they were covering water to fish slower later

@bestestmama a slow retrieve is important because big bass dont want to chase a lure down especially during the colder months when they are more lethargic. With a nice slow steady retrieve it makes it an easy target for the bass to swim over and eat your bait. Hope this helps
