  • If only all the music he had recorded just before his death could be released.

He deserves the recognition for being one of the greats! His voice, this song, awesome. Miss you Rick.

  • Well done cover of a beautiful song

  • He was a beautiful man to the very end. God rest his soul.

  • F'ing great! Too much talent lost due to cheap-ass planes & cheap-ass pilots & greedy promoters and managers. R.I.P. both of them. This was my wedding dance song by Buddy. If I play it my wife wants to get all huggy. If she ever hears this version with the Nelson "reverb" going on, I think she will wet her pants!!!

Thank you for this post. Jeff T.

  • rick was another buddy holly, he dident want to be a movie star he wanted to leave this world something that would last our life times his music, films die music never dies rick knew this, id love to be the one to tell his story but im far to old, some of you young actors out there take this crusaid to the movies do his story be rick nelson live his story, ok im done..!

  • I have always wished someone would do a Big movie of his life and Hits -- and give him the Recognition he deserves--- people Know Elvis and Roy Orbison etc but most young people dont know of Rick Nelson and the True Beauty of his songs and Voice. Even his late 60's and early 70s songs were very good, but because of his "teen Idol" and his Dads TV show- he wasnt given his due of a real Singer that he desrved! Roy Orbison said Rick had one of the Real true voices he ever heard.

  • I have never heard this version before, and wasn't even aware it existed. The guitar in this is fabulous!!! What a sin that this didn't get airplay after Rick's passing. I'm on a mission now. I'll own this song before the sun sets.

  • .....we knew "True Love Ways"...didn't we....my dragon? Didn't we?

  • So Great. SO GREAT !!

  • I saw him in 1967, Wildwood N.J. Great show.

  • Yes, we miss you, Rick. RIP

    Very lovely version.

  • Ricky was a awesome singer I love his music

  • I saw him in person in the seventies with the Stone Canyon band, he was great and underrated. As a kid of the fifties I always like Ricky, learned to play guitar by them. We lost him too early.

  • Rick had a smooth sounding style. -{I know I already commented.. but anyhow.....}

  • A fine job done by ol' Rick on this one.

  • The Holly original version was my wedding dance song with my wife. Peter & Gordon did a great version, some country guy did it, and many others. This song cant be screwed up, even if I were to sing it, and I cant carry a tune to save my life! A great Buddy song sung by one of the best singers in history. RIP Rick.

  • I love this!!!!!!! What a great version done in Ricky Nelson Style, awesome...

  • We miss you Rick

  • Wonderful song.

  • The vocal was a scratch take? Damn. He might've reconsidered that, I'm thinking. Dude NAILED it. Shame about Rick, really. Shame that he died when he did, especially. The 90s & 00s would've been kind to him. Tarantino would've cast him in outrageously unexpected roles, Rick Rubin would've masterminded a dark/rootsy musical comeback for him (ala' Cash), and you KNOW he'd be humpin' Paris Hilton while Lindsay Lohen licked his ass at the same time, age 70 & beyond. Shame about Rick.

  • Say, can you tell me where you got the first picture from, please? I've looked all over for it but can't find it.

  • Nice job on the photo edits! Just curious, if this was from the album John Fogerty was working on and how did you get it?

  • wow man. That was fucking smoooooth ricky! Smooth like green label Jack Daniels. That was so chill and awesome. Did not expect it. 5/5

  • I LOVE the firlst picture!! <3

  • a great reading of Buddy's classic.Ricky was terribly underappreciated talent. Not by me

  • ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFULLY DONE BY RICKY !!!! MY FAVORITE ARTIST OF ALL-TIME!

  • duuude wouldnt it be hot if he was agreaser lol

  • TINML Thank you so much for this beautiful song. Ricky was always my idol, and always will be. I am close to his age, grew up with the Nelsons on O & H. His death greatly saddened me. It is so great that his boys have and still are keeping his music alive. Sam is so much like him in looks, voice and manner it is ironic. He was so young when Ricky died, at least he can know him through his music.

  • @mamagooski1 I MET GUNNAR AND MATHEW THIS AUG . SURREAL EXPERIENCE. TOOK PICS TOGETHER,AND TALKED THEIR DAD !!! FROM JERRY

  • He was taken away too early from us.

  • wow... not that he is a bad singer but WTF in the beggining he wasn't even singing he was just talking fast LOL

  • panda love

  • you gotta feel it honey

  • Ricky outsold Elvis!

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! Had NO idea until now that the late great Rick Nelson had recorded his own version of this classic tune. Absolutely beautiful! THANK YOU for posting it! You've MADE my day & my weekend! :)

  • This really is beautiful version!! Rest In Peace Rick

  • One of the most beautiful love songs ever! Ricky's version is just lovely.

  • *****

  • He sang the PRETTY songs so well - this one, Lonesome Town, Sweeter than You.

    This one is just heartbreaking.

  • Wish life was this simple today...Rick was the image of growing up. Miss you bro.

  • Thanks for the post. Great job on the cover!

  • I love this version It's so great :) RIP Rick

  • Ricky died in a plane crash. Just like Buddy Holly.

  • OMG, he was so very, very handsome and had so much going for him. I adored him. So sad, another excellent artist gone by the wayside and destroyed by drugs.

  • I don't think Rick was destroyed by drugs

  • Beautifully done. Thank you. I wish you were at Capitol Records (your picture cover for this track is first-class!)

  • Wow, awesome. Always liked Rick. Kinda sad he wasn't taken seriously as the great musician he really was. He could never shake that "Teen Idol" label. This being his last recording is sadly ironic.

    Nice video,

    Thanks : )

  • Appreciate it! Yes Rick was an artist that was never appreciated as he should've been until it was too late.

  • You don't hear this one too often!

  • Some cool guys are not mean't to ever grow old. I saw him rock the Albert Hall in late '86. R.I.P. 'Everlovin' Rick Nelson

  • Correction. It was late '85, and I first flew in to Dallas-Fort Worth in September '86 thinking of Rick and his band from nine months earlier.

  • Nicest man I ever met. Handsome does not begin to describe how good looking he was. His voice melted my heart, the 1st time I heard it. I was 9 years old.

  • Thanks for making it easy for me. Much appreciated. I have them written down

    and will find them.

  • Not a problem both are easily available. If you have any questions on Ricky or the music available, I'd be glad to help.

  • Wow, thank you so much for posting this.

I grew up with Ricky (on the radio and TV, he was 3 days older than me. I always had a special place for him in my heart as a child and an adult. Great piece. I would buy it. I believe all his fans would as well.

  • OregonRuthie - You can buy this song on Rick Nelson's boxset "Legacy" Or on his "Greatest Love Songs". Please support Rick's legacy!

  • Thanks for the post.
