I know this is going on four years old, but it's helpful to me. The game looked interesting and I got it pretty cheaply on a sale. Started it up about 45 minutes ago and thought, "I have no idea how to do anything." after attempting to play the game for about 15 minutes. These videos look like they'll be helpful, so thanks!
@cliffhanger11414 1.Fuck you 2. this comment was from last week I know how it is and I got a mod where I can play pagans and muslims 3.don't judge a person out of first impresion
Does this include the Deus Vult expansion? I was thinking maybe of getting this because CK 2 looks interesting. I love EUIII, but this seems quite different.
Thanks for the Tutorial. Q How do you get rid of Thieves guilds and smugglers rings. Is there anywhere that tells you the benefits of Post services or courts ?
i actually just bought this and started playing it. i have EU3 and most of the other paradox games so im pretty familiar with their MOAs, however this one still has a bit of a steep learning curve. generally i just jump in and learn as i go.
What do you think the point of Crusader Kings is? I've been playing and trying a bunch of things .. taking over the entire world doesn't work, because when your king dies, everyone rebels and you'll come to a point where you just do not have the money, or the inclination to go through each of your vassals and bribe them up.
I understand how to play, I just don't get the end goal. :(
Aside from the arbitrary scoring system, I think the goal is just to become a powerful as possible given the time frame. The larger you realm gets, the more difficult it becomes to manage your people, and thus the more challenging and interesting the game gets.
How to get to a good start in Crusader Kings: Marry Agnes D'Aquitaine. She comes of age in 1068. Your first son will inhereit the Duchy of Poitou, which is a big chunk of France. This will give you a solid base to work from.
That's a good way. Also, for example you can do the switching of allegiances to carve out some land quickly upon start, it's just risky. For example, I played the Count of Leon which was allied to the dukedom of Brittany, so I saw an opportunity to lay claim to a neighoring fellow vassal.. I declared war on him and quickly, on the same day, swore allegiance to the King of England. Needless to say, the King helped me secure it and eventually gained me the entire Dukedom.
is that so, that the deus vult is standalone & an improved version of the normal ck? or has deus vult another scenario/can it be played AFTER a standard cs game?
i wish my english to be perfect to understand all he said ...lol....i still don't understand how to play this game...i also have iron heart game about ww2
I love all the Paradox Interactive games, and after watching these tutorials then toying around in CK, I think I've found my new favorite of the bunch. Great guides.
IMHO CK is far better than the average Paradox games. At least you can do more stuff (that events became more like choices related to past choices and less "random" was a very good choice imho)
Unfortunately, Deus Vult is only being offered via Paradox's proprietary download service, GamersGate. Since games purchased on GamersGate require internet-based activation, I refuse to make any purchases from the service. Should the expansion ever become available without the phone-home behavior, I'd snap it up in an instant.
I ask this question because I'm thinking about using GamersGate to purchase my games from Paradox Interactive. What is exactly wrong about internet-based activation?
With Gamersgate you must have an internet connection to download and launch the installer, but after that it never checks for internet connectivity again.
I play CK-DV on my laptop when I'm travelling and have no 'net access at all, and it never asked me to connect.
@Veraxus Not all games on Gamersgate do, just some, and that's entirely dependent on the publisher. All GG itself does is wrap the exe in a downloader.
@Veraxus This is a bit late response but better late than never. I take it that you haven't used digital game purchasing before. There is no such thing as internet-based activation in GamersGate. Crusader Kings like all the other games from Paradox on GamersGate rely on normal cd-key based copy protection. Once you buy the game it is stored on your user account so you can re-download if you uninstall it and want to install it again etc. There is no limit on how many times you can download...
@Veraxus the game. Actually it's rather stupid not to learn to use digital game stores since it is the future of PC gaming and you will miss a lot if you just choose to drop out. GamersGate, Steam and Impulse are many reliable services that will keep your credit card infromation safe and they also stre your games in an easy-to-use web site.
@Veraxus well you can allways get it from piratebay since you aredly brouth the game and since the add-on pretty much only adds bug fixes so its a total bullshit they making us pay for it
Very nice tutorial but youve made a mistake. The relations button doesnt show the relation in terms of the greener the better, but in terms of personal demesne (green), vassal (light green) and realm (turquoise).
haha i love it, totally difficult game and they dont put any kind of tutorial or anything XD

IT IS NOT HISTORICALY ACCURATE it doesn't have Lithuania and Lithuania was in every one of those periods.
DelTevynes 8 months ago
@DelTevynes Retard. Of course they are there, Paradox is historical accurateness to the max.
Lithuania proper is controlled by the Tribe of Lithuanians and some other parts are controlled by other nations.
But since they are Pagan they are unplayable as well as Muslims and Republics etc. Do some research plox.

Probably due to all the downloadable things these days.

Nice tutorial, several mistakes though.
The religions are Catholic, Orthodox (not protestant!), Muslim, Pagan, and Jewish. Everything you said about muslims goes for Pagans and Jews as well.
In the income field, ''scutage'' controls vassal loyalty, crown duty controls the provincial nobles loyalty.
A diocese bishop IS important for events and technological research.
And you did not forget to appoint a diplomat, but married her away to your vassal ;)
I applaud the effort though.
