Within the peculiar nature of beast lies love and compassion, but in between those factors lies hatred. In the miseries of the land are regret, lust, agony, and pain. Where the sun never shines and there’s always rain. But if you can find that silver dot in the sky, and bury your hatred and pride, you could be the death of Animosity
I like that poem, and as for the creator lark.. when I was a theist, I didn't believe in satan because it didn't make sense but believed that god was both bad and good.
Via Frost (one of my faves) you ask some interesting questions here about design and nature. I think that Nature is neither cruel nor just; rather, Nature is exact. Certainly there is no reason to ascribe anthropic attributes to Nature, such as, say, morality or beauty or even "sense." The universe simply is. Nature simply works the way it works. The appearance of design does not necessarily preclude a Designer.
Although I despise most poetry, I decided to make a comment on this poem. I liked the imagery- the white flower, white spider, and white moth. White always makes me think of purity, innocence, and all that. Such an odd mixture—innocence and death. Not to mention, this is all happening in the morning— a new beginning with death? Hmmm. Seems like if he's saying there is a God, then he's malevolent. Perhaps that's faulty logic on my part, but that's what I think.
I tend to agree. If God designed this system, he's definitely got some serious sadistic tendencies... ;)
But then again, it could all be explained by the fact that the moth and the spider were both seeking refuge on the white flower and it was a coincidence that this happened simultaneously leading to the death of the moth. *shrugs*
I thought about it being a coincidence too, but unfortunately, I was totally limited to a short response because YouTube only allows 500 characters per comment...Bastards!
Hey can someone tell me what this poem means

Very good. Helpful, but I must say it's "fat and white". Thanks for this

Very interesting. I guess you would have to believe God had both good and evil in him in he created Satan... But most theists don't acknowledge that.

I like this poem.
I think you know my answer to that question. :)

Frost didn't.

Wow.

I say that about everyone!
Wasn't Frost an atheist himself?

Very doubtful. He wrote many Christian poems.

Excellent response. Thank you for participating! =)

I think it's perfectly possible. But at that level reason breaks down to meaning nothing.

but from just listening. Bellow, roar, shriek
seemed small inside their hearts. And where there had been
at most a makeshift hut to receive the music
a shelter nailed up out of their darkest longing,
with an entryway that shuddered in the wind-
you built a temple deep inside their hearing.
u reminded me of rilke for some reason *nubbins*

A tree ascended there. Oh pure transcendence!
Oh Orpheus sings! Oh tall tree in the ear!
And all things hushed. Yet even in that silence
a new beginning, beckoning, change appeared.
Creatures of stillness crowded from the bright
unbound forest, out of their lairs and nests;
and it was not from any dullness, not
from fear, that they were so quiet in themselves,

The designer has a holy sense of humor.

Or "holey," rather. ;)

Personally, I don't like dystheism. As a position, I find it makes too many assumptions about the nature of god to be useful...

I'd like to see more observations derived from poetry or prose from you! Of course I'm a little drunk, but regardless, I enjoyed it!
