It's one thing to work with STEP or IGES files, but the real issue is the quality assurance and verification. To what tolerances are an MBD model/part to be inspected to? Furthermore, in a lot of cases, a model CAD neutral format does not always carry the tolerances needed to inspect the part. I think these are issues that need to be resolved before MBD/MBE can be adopted as a industry standard.
a picture is worth 1000words. I truly appreciate Paul's presentation. What I would love to see is a presentation that applies the principle of "a picture is worth 1000 words". I would like to see a youtube video of 3 minutes showing what Model Based Enterprise is rather than a long presentation à la conference style with a bunch of technical jargons and acronyms that the average software developer or information architects do no understand.
