Tim Berg has admitted that there was "confusion" over the rights because Syco had approached EMI directly without his knowledge. He was (quite rightly) not happy because he had previously told Syco he wouldn't license it to them.

Avicii's version was licensed from his publisher (without his kniowledge but this is common practice), Avicii was credited as a writer from the outset and was always going to be paid writing royalties.
