  • OH! Vodka and a pretty girlfriend.

  • Just a bit of DYK trivia regarding this song.... this song got the name "Badge" from when one of the members wrote the word "bridge" across the sheet music from where there was supposed to be a bridge in the song but he wrote it really sloppily and the word "bridge" came out looking more like "badge". So they named the song "Badge" just because of that!

  • @MatthewtheY I'm just adding to this. But George Harrison and Eric Clapton wrote this song together. Harrison is the one who wrote 'Bridge' so sloppily that Clapton thought it was Badge, and just went with it.

  • First time I have heard this Cream song. I would just like to say its bloody good!!!

  • a great great track......bloody so ahead of its time!!!!

  • a great great track......bloody so ahead of its time!!!!

  • Wtf is classic rock except for genre bending shit, hence why it all doesn't sound the same? This was during a time when folks weren't too concerned about genres.

  • i love it .it takes me back.thanks ..tiger

  • Why don't you music know nothing brainless pieces of shit take your argument elsewhere? Rap vs Clapton? Give me a fucking break and get lost.

  • Brings back memories! All good!!!

  • no one who is stupid enough to listen to rap (or is it crap?) has the right to listen to classic rock such as Cream or Jefferson Airplane or any prog rock band!

  • @MrBaristotle Haha what an ignorant thing to say. God forbid someone who enjoys a genre of music "you" don't like listen to classic rock.

  • @mateo51790 people under the stairs saves modern rap

  • My favourite Cream track awesome is not the word.,This track sounds as fresh as ever.Hence the saying fresh cream. By God those words are true with this song!!! Benja :-)

  • I have to say Eric Clapton is not my favorite guitarist of all time but that is definitely one of the greatest solos ever in a song IMO. It has everything in it, including brevity - the phrasing is impeccable. Just pure genius.

  • I like this way more than some of the blues stuff they did-it's a perfect pop song.

  • Probably my fav. Cream tune!

  • I am just enjoying this great song. Thanks.

  • @milksteak74 Sure, I'll elaborate by saying that old school hip hop is not that bad. Most rap sucks because it is highly degrading to women. Every other word in MOST rap songs is profanity, which is unnecessary. Trust me, I used to love rap, until I realized that by listening to it, I was lowering my own I.Q. each and every second I continued to listen to shit like "bitch..a**, n****. By the way, why are you even on a Cream video, talking about rap? It's just an opinion. Plus, this is happy ♫

  • @groovechile68 Why am I on a Cream video talking about rap? Because you brought rap up and your opinion on it seemed like it was based on modern mainstream rap. It's funny you mention the lowering your I.Q. thing when you listened to rap because when I listen to rap (or at least a good rapper) I feel like I have to pay close attention to understand the metaphors and clever word play. I love classic rock but I just hate to see hip hop getting a bad rep based on shitty rappers.

  • @milksteak74 What a wonderful comment. So true.

  • this song was written by George Harrison and Eric Clapton :D

  • Une des 3 meilleures chanson de Cream, avec Sunshine Of Your Love et White Room!

  • @mateo51790 Thanks, I'm happy I finally "know" someone who likes The Kinks! I'm always professing their underrated genius-ness! Haha, John Lennon is definitely one of the finest musicians/songwriters of all time, especially his solo work! He definitely was a genius, he used to always proclaim that was either a genius or insane, lol. I'm pretty sure that he had quite a high I.Q. He will always be greatly missed, for musicians like him are FAR and WIDE!

This is the BEST music ever! :D

  • @groovechile68 Haha ya same 2 u, 2 "know" someone that likes all this music haha. Ya ik he always said that, but I say genius! He will be and still is very missed. The other Beatles even said that they looked up 2 John, as he was like the big brother/ the leader. I do NOT understand how someone could kill him. I mean, who would ever wanna kill John Lennon. Not only is the guy like a god, but he's prolly 1 of the most peaceful people 2 ever live...

  • @mateo51790 Haha, you sound quite grooovvvyyy and awesome!! That's so cool that you and your mates are into the 60's and 70's, like I said I can't find many, if any, people that dig the same stuff I enjoy!! Haha, I went to a wedding and the dj was playing so much RAP (A.K.A. crap,) haha, and I requested The Bee Gees, The Beatles, Cream, Eric Clapton and The Kinks, I knew they wouldn't play them. Haha. Yes, these types of songs do take you away from reality, that's why they're so AMAZING!! ♥

  • @groovechile68 haha ya I agree, rap sucks. That's awesome u requested those bands. I like everyone of them too. Especially The Beatles and The Kinks. I was JUST listening 2 John Lennon too. He is 1 of the best musicians/ song writers ever. The guy was a genius. Yes, they are all amazing. It's impossible 2 listen 2 this kind of music and not be happy :)

  • May favorite Cream song ever!

  • As a child I was fed on 60's & 70's masterpieces like this. A healthy rock n roll diet for sure....something to said for quality. Glad to of experienced it.

  • @mateo51790 That's awesome and thank you, dude you don't know how badly I wish I knew a guy like you, haha. All the guys I know either like rap, emo, or modern rock, shit that all sucks haha. You're so right on music of the '60's and 70's being moving and MEANINGFUL; I wish I had a time machine also :(

  • @groovechile68 Haha we seem 2 think alike as far as music goes. And yes! Every guy or girl I know other than my close friends, love friggn rap and all that other shit. All of my friends r like me though, into the 60's and 70's, they way it should be now! wtf :/ This music, and especially this song which is like the TYPICAL amazing groovy 60's song, is incredible... the lyrics and music just like take u on a journey, if only for 3 minutes... I play guitar and all classic rock like this.

  • @groovechile68 Please elaborate on how rap sucks. There's plenty of good hip hop out there. Wu Tang Clan, Camp Lo, Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Gravediggaz Big L etc.(all those names probably mean nothing to you) Sounds like you based your opinion of hip-hop around some bullshit on the radio you heard. If you don't like hip-hop just say you don't like hip-hop. There's a difference between not liking something and thinking it sucks.

  • @milksteak74 Ya she's got a point, y r u listening 2 Cream if u like Rap? Sorry but she's right, rap is awful. I will say, old school rap is pretty good, but pretty much from like 02' on, it absolutely sucks. 90's rap was the best... And no rap group or song can compare 2 this kind of MUSIC.

  • @mateo51790 All the things I listed in that other post was from the 90's. I love hip hop just as much as I love classic rock and that is why I am listening to Cream right now. You're right when you say no rap group or song could compare to this kind of music. That's because no hip hop should be compared to any classic rock in the first place. They're two completely different genres.

  • @milksteak74 Alright well classic rock is still sooooo much better

  • @mateo51790 I'm sorry for bringing this whole rap thing back up but I noticed you liked a Wiz kahlifa video. Doesn't that contradict pretty much everything you just said about hip-hop? Especially since you asked ME why I was listening to Cream if I liked rap. Wiz has to be one of the most garbage rappers out there too. C'mon son.

  • @milksteak74 How did u know I liked a Wiz video? lol... and I like SOME rap, but not a whole lot. All rap sucks now so he's 1 of the better rappers now a days. 90's rap was like 100 times better than the rap now.

  • @mateo51790 I went to your account out of curiosity. I just can't believe someone that dislikes modern hip-hop enjoys Wiz. How is that even possible? He sounds no different than any other garbage mainstream rapper out there. There are sooooo many good modern day rappers. Just got to find them. Same goes for rock.

  • @milksteak74 Cuz man, all rap SUCKS now a days with the exception of a few, and in my opinion, Wiz Khalifa. Rap and rock these days is awful cuz if it was as good as it used 2 be, u wouldn't have 2 "find" them, it'd just be there, everyone would know about who is good and who is bad. Back in the day, when music was really good, a lotta people loved the same bands and disliked a lot of the same, but now, good NEW music is limited...

  • @milksteak74 Thank you. Closet idiots trying to drop knowledge everywhere I turn.

  • I LOVE CREAMM!! I'm one of the only 19 year old girls that OBSESSES over '60's Psychedelia and British Invasion bands, such as The Kinks, The Beatles (of course), The Moody Blues, The Small Faces, The Hollies, The Stones, The Who, The Zombies, Donovan... need I go on??!

  • @groovechile68 Thats awesome, wish I knew a girl like u... im a dude and I'm 21, so not too far off, and I absolutely love 60's and 70's music. There were few shitty bands from these times. I WISH I was around during these days like my parents were. Amazing music, it was so moving and had so much meaning. Much different than the shit that is on 2day :/

  • my favorite Cream song,to be sure.

  • That chorus->bridge just hits you like a freight train. I feel like I don't expect it even after hearing this song for the 300th time.

  • @SmutJunkie It was part written by George Harrison, who knew a thing or two. He and Clapton wrote Badge, but thanks to bad handwriting ' Bridge.' became ' Badge'

  • @idle44 Thanx for that! Fascinating that the most beautiful musical bridge ever was named for a mis-interpretation.

  • George harrison played that cool lead in this! he was also co-writer :)

  • @joangirl13 he played rythm

  • @joangirl13 o.k. Rhythm. :)

  • George harrison played that cool lead in this! he was also co-writer1 :)

  • @joangirl13 You can really hear his tone and style, sounds like some of his later work with Badfinger and on Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy".

  • ..maybe its best for rock if it does stay away from u....pal....Are u telling me Brent Smith from Shinedown CANT write and sing??....hahahaa;;;; i suppose Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge cant as well.. :P...good rock music is where u find it..and u are poorly informed..mister...or ???

  • @shadoww1000 lol wtf you have THE WORST TASTE EVER

it's amazing how ridiculous you sound - it's like you're being sarcastic, but unfortunately (for you) you're serious - it's hilarious how retarded you are.

  • rock and roll is back....and ..well it never really NEVER left.... Shinedown....Three Doors Down..Collective Soul...Hinder....Nickelback...Prelude to June....and there ARE many more...

  • @shadoww1000

....if the "many more" means more bands like those, rock can stay the fuck away from me.

  • @leeharveyosmosis I KNOW, THEIR NOT AS GOOD AS JUSTIN BEIBER RIGHT? GO PLAY IN TRAFIC BLINDFOLDED RUSHHOUR WORKS

  • @mdwlcx

There really aren't a whole lot of things that are as good as Justin Bieber.

  • In the words of Neil Young,"Hey Hey My My,Rock and Roll Can Never Die"

  • @shadoww1000 With exception for collective soul. All those bands you listed sucked.

  • @MoreParksLessParking Agreed. That was quite a shitty list. It makes one wonder, what makes people attracted to such mediocrity? Lack of exposure? Or merely a willingness to swallow whatever comes their way? Food for thought, lol.

  • The line about the swans that they live in the park is stead to have been quoted by a drunk Ringo Starr.

  • Christ, I love this song!

  • 1967 - 1974 the best time for ROCK......

  • @wincanton2 Dude, it was the best time for EVERYTHING.

  • 3 people dated maybelle before she got married to the kid

  • 2 people never saw the swans that may live at the park.

  • this was a song my brother Eddie played with his garage band in the 1960s, as I was a boy. ..dancing in the yard with a group of acid kids... LOL

  • My favorite Cream song.

  • 1:37

  • That guitar at 1:07 sounds like church bells.

  • @wikkid61 I like your analogy. It's actually George Harrison playing through a Leslie speaker (more likely a Fender Vibratone) for that guitar break. Listen to the intro on Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy" (same sound, same guitarist) and several songs on Beatles albums. Clapton used the device on Blind Faith's version of "Well, Alright" and probably a few others I've forgotten. In the hands of a master, a truly stunning effect.

  • I still can't believe this epic song is only 2:48! Wow! More quality content in this than most of the stuff out today COMBINED!

  • @capnspl0tch that's exactly right...it's well done...it's short....it leaves you wanting....if you ever cover BADGE in a rock and roll band you have to fight the urge to extend it by adding a second chorus or something (even though EC himself does that now.)

  • i like this song

  • This song, my soon to be ex-wife, "and I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table."

  • we need more guitar bands

  • this song is one of the greatest songs in rock history. if you disagree i will hurt you

  • @megansuperstar LOL XD

  • big time fave of mine - did not know written by eric and george harrison..cool :)

  • And Harrison wrote Here comes the sun while hanging out on the terrace at Clapton's garden!

  • The giveaway that it's Harrison is the bridge. If it sounds rather like the arpeggiated sections on Abbey Road - on I want you, You never give me your money, Because and Here comes the sun - that's because Harrison was the most in favour of the use of arpeggio on Abbey Road. It's another song to the add to a whole range of tunes Clapton and Harrison played on together in the late 60s/early 70s - sour milk sea, while my guitar gently weeps, the Delaney & Bonnie album, All things must pass...

  • one of their greatest songs in my opinion !

George Harrison's rhythm guitar's riff in the middle of this song is amazing, my fav part of this song.

  • the drams in the end were a litl like "the wight room"

  • they just dont make music like this anymore.

    so join me brothers sisters

    the world must be saved

    BRING BACK ROCK N ROLL

  • @ChromeSpinners1 *looks at only 14 thumb-ups and frowns...

  • @ChromeSpinners1 rock and roll is still around, you just have to look for it

  • @ChromeSpinners1 problem is theres no blues sound in modern rock, the best rock bands were influence by blues, the stones, beatles, clapton, rock and roll has no soul without it

  • @ChromeSpinners1 workin' on it brother

  • @ChromeSpinners1 Leave it to me!

  • she cried away her life

  • FANDANGO!!!!!!! Almost darlin', but not quite...

  • favorite

    movie

    ever

  • que temazo!!!!!!!!!

    the best of cream.........

  • this is the first song of my favorite movie. Kevin Costner's Fandango.

how long it take to me discover the name of the song and the band.

now I know why I like it so much.

  • Come to Texas! You can go visit DOM

  • actually I dont live in the US :(

how i wish to see those places!!!!

  • i love playing this song on the bass, its awesome

  • wow this is a great song....i just found out the name was badge...

  • so you thought the name of the song was cream? well we all make mistakes

  • Jack Bruce was also the bassist.

  • Clapton did his best work with Cream, Blind Faith, and Derek and the Dominoes. If anyone tries to argue that point with me, I'll go all Bill O'Reilly on you and SHOUT YOU DOWN with caps. Oh, by the way, what the hell do these lyrics mean? I love this song, but it doesn't make any sense!

  • acually i think Jack Bruce did better with cream since he was the main song writer and lead singer

  • your right, the record company wanted jack to sit in the corner and play bass and let eric be the star but jack wrote the hits.

  • I don't think it's supposed to make sense. They got the lyrics from things Ringo would say when he was drunk.

  • Really? I never heard that Cream and the Beatles actually partied together much. I thought that just Clapton and Harrison were buds. Tell me more trivia or a good online source for this kind of trivia if you can.

  • pure.......

  • Told you 'bout the sky on the roof.

  • I told You not to wonder round in the dark.

    salud

  • Told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park

  • I told you 'bout a kid, now he's married to Mable.

  • @IC2720 Mabel

  • @seizetheweakened George also played guitar on this track

  • In this song, George Harrison played a part of the guitar. In the song "While my guitar gently weeps" on the "The White Album" Eric Clapton played a solo part.

  • Thinking that I may have driven You too far?

    salud

  • Cream were British, not English - Jack Bruce comes from Glasgow.

  • thinking about the time....

when life was a lot easier...whew. We need some light in this old world...

OH! THAT GUITAR.."don't you notice how that wheel goes round, and you'd better pick yourself up from the ground, before they bring the curtain down..yes before they bring the curtain down...whooooohoooooooooooo.

    perfection.

  • Top, top comments. Agreed wih wholeheartedly!

  • well, thanks, I appreciate your apprecicatin' ways.

  • I just listened to this like seven times and just keep getting better everytime.Has always been one of my favs. How about the opening guitar lick on bell bottom blues by derik and the dominoes? You gotta love clapton....

  • Oh my, this is one of the songs that makes you sigh in total exaltation: Ain't music great!

  • Boston - more than a feeling !! just a cream rip off!!

  • are you fucking serious, this song came out like 15 years befor more than a feeling.... dumb ass

  • Actually, this song was written late 1968 and released in April 1969....the song "more than a feeling by Boston was released on Boston's first album in 1976...when it was written I know not. Who's the dumbass now?

  • Check out Robben Ford's version of this song, its awesome...

Kinda different, but its also good.

  • My second favorite Cream song, next to White Room ;~)

  • I was reading that Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun" was influenced by this song, but aside from the bassline, I don't see much influence; but it does sound "Beatleish," it sounds like Glass Onion somewhat.

  • George Harrison co-wrote this song. He also played the rhythm guitar on this track. As well as the beautiful guitar part at 1:08

  • and harrison was inspired to write here comes the sun after visiting Clapton's new house and was in the garden all morning.

  • she cried away her life.....

  • Betcha don't know where the title(Badge)came from.... do yah?

  • I forget the story. Was this the song where the kid wanted to be a cop and commited suicide or somehting like that. I know I am probably way off...LOL!!!

  • Yah, you are way off... It came about because of one Ringo Starr who walked in on Clapton and Harrison rehearsing the tune. Ringo was drunk. he looked at the chart for the song and couldn't read the word "bridge" ya know the transition part in the middle of the tune. Ringo asked "what's this badge?" Old Clapton and harrison thought it so funny they named the tune "Badge".

  • Damn I wasn't even in the ball park.LOL!! So where the hell did I get that story from. Oh well thanks for the needed correction.

  • where did it come from?

  • Awesome song

  • Bassline in this song is definitely one of the best.

  • love that bassline line

  • How can a f---ing song from a life time ago make me feel so alive when I hear it. . .Still

    another legend band

    Alive from Phoenix

  • Someone's gotta go back and get a shitload of dimes!

  • Make that one metric shitload.

  • Excuse me while I whip this out! Is it twue what they say about bwack men? It's twue! It's twue!

  • Sorry, twelve is my limit on sausages!!

  • i cut my teeth on cream they were one of the greatest groups of all time

  • Badge is a great song that should not be under rated. Cream were just that, the cream of all that is and was great about music.

  • and I mean 1:07 not 1:04

  • When George plays the guitar part at 1:04 with the leslie speaker is anyone else reminded of Boston's More than a feeling?

  • A lot of music in rock 'n' roll history borrows different elements from other songs. Some are just plain rip-offs, while others create their own song out of it. Many famous bands (Boston, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden; to name a few) write music from the famous riffs and styles of older artists, but the songs are still very revolutionary and unique. :)

  • yea Eric definitely "borrowed" Albert King's solo for Strange Brew

  • OMG! ur right! it is kinda like it! huh....never knew that til now. I guess i was just paying attention to the music so much taht i didn't think about anything else!! XD

  • Hehe.. yeah and George definitely borrowed My Sweet Lord too.

  • boston has stolen it from cream...

  • I would say Boston was more influenced by Cream than actually stole it

  • I love Eric´s voice on this song.

  • Man I love the old media style.Everything pre 1990 is when advertising was still relatively creative. Now days it's ALL rehashed bullshit--it makes me fucking sick!! Adverts from the 60's and 70's is where it's at baby!!

  • im sorry, but in my opinion, eric clapton is one of the more over-rated guitarists of this era. thats not to say i dont think he makes wonderful music; cream is unreal and blind faith is the greatest supergroup of all time!

  • Anybody noticed this? Whenever I search for Badge by Cream or by EC, YT retrieves any random Clapton song. Why shouldn't it retrieve only versions of Badge?

  • Erick Clapton is a living legend; he has been clever enough to live each stage of his life with dignity and this is what his music reflects... this is my opinion.

  • I love this song LONG LIVE ERIC CLAPTON!!!

  • clapton is not clapton for me, he is a part of cream for me and always will be.

  • well you need to get over it..he's cream, he's derek and the dominos, he's blind faith, he's CLAPTON!

  • hes THE Clapton!

  • That is true! Accept no imitations!

  • Through interviews over the years, EC allowed the impression to grow that he was the whole show in Cream, and the other two were his backing unit. It's true that Clapton went on to a much more successful solo career, but Cream wouldn't have been remotely possible w/o Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. It's like JB once said: Onstage Cream was a jazz band. They just didn't tell Eric.

  • felix ..the road goes ever on..gone but not foregotten

  • clapton is naff by his self......cream made him dont foreget it clapton

  • the yardbirds made him
