I can't understand why Liverpool fans laud this man and regard his tenure as a success. Okay, he won the champions league, fantastic achievement, but other than that he has been a failure. In Spain they operate clubs differently and the manager does not do the buying for the most part, so he had little experience of that when he entered England. I wouldn't call his record disastrous, but only a certain type of player - hardworking, head down, tactical awareness at all times, professional, unemotional - excels under him. His players are pawns to him, and that reflects his philosophy as a manager.

Then again, Gerrard was none existent for the majority of the season, he was awful by his standards, with Liverpool's most influencial player (Bar Torres when he was fit) was Pepe Reina, easily the best goalkeeper in the EPL.

Problem with Liverpool was Rafa playing his favorites rather then people who could make a difference. Lucas and N'Gog for example, both horrible players.
