Did my 1st Winter Solstice this year, it was brilliant, far better than the 7 Summer Solstices I have done before.... and I went alone this time as no one else wanted to brave the weather, lol
@caitlinthecandela the ceremony usually starts just before dawn, around 7.45am as public open access to the stones commences at 7.30am. Getting there early to park is advisable.
Due to the solstice 'point' being at 11:38pm on the 21st December, English Heritage may decide to hold open access the following morning of the 22nd. I advise to check with English Heritage nearer the time or else contact me.
@sylvanhart Making my way from Niagara Falls and have to check this out. How do you advise getting there early enough as I can't seem to find any public transportation that leaves from London and arrives for 7:30am. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. A taxi would be too much I think.
@wordlife18 There is a Wilts & Dorset bus service from Salisbury to Amesbury which arrives in Amesbury at 7:35am, however it is a 2 mile walk from there to Stonehenge so I would advise staying at a B&B in Amesbury.
It is unclear this year as to which day Open Access is on, so best to check with English Heritage beforehand too.
@Belledemure the same bald dancing lass at the 2010 Winter Solstice?, with bells on dancing to the djembi drum and man blowing the horn and American lady doing impromptu song "We All Come From The Goddess"? :-)
Thanks Redzool, you're welcome. Was a great morning and wonderful to see Stonehenge in the snow. Great fun too watching people having snownball fights inside the stones.
I was there that day.. I'm the one with the Russian hat holding my stuff and the guy dancing next to me is my dad XD... thanks for putting up this video and i may get round to doing a video response to it

@lennartjuhh Do you mean you made it to Stonehenge or that you made Stonehenge? Either one takes a great deal of effort when it's this chilly ;-)

@sylvanhart I mean that I made Stonehenge. Yeah, it took some effort but I got the job done :)
