  • what the hell do you need so much wood for lol

  • @Joe5225MLS27

    So much wood???

You obviously don't heat with wood. LOL

  • bel video,e ottima legna

  • Do you think you might have enough wood back there fellas?

  • might want to try the "splitting wood with a tire (youtube video)" way. might help your son with tempermental just a bit. and prob makes things much more easier, i would hope :)

  • good realy man

  • best wood splitter ever designed by man...

  • how many cords of firewood can you split per hour

  • hehe all summer long

  • wow he dose good work were can i get one

  • you said atomatic

  • this reminds me of my childhood...most ppl watched tv ...i chopped wood, planted gardens and shoveled dirt..oo the good old day...

  • good way to work out your frustrations.

  • thats a fine load of timber behind u

  • I'de kill to get paid to do it :)

  • I don't know about you all but I love cutting down trees and splitting logs all day long. Great exorcise and lots of time to ones self.

  • Ola Pablo! I'll give You $5 per cord if you work fast!

  • You need to get a refund, you were ripped off.

  • @zeozot see my vids & learn herbs like dandelion, kelp, dill, dock, coriander ETC!

  • lAST SUMMER i HURT MY BACK, BUT i HAD FOUND 2 1/2 CORDS FOR MY EX-WIFE. i HAD TO DO IT. i WASNT SURE, BUT AFTER i DID IT MY BACK FELF A LOT BETTER...

  • @N2thedrink Cheaper? I don't think so. Less tempermental? Maybe. But I have to deal with the tempermetalness anyway, so I might as well get him to split the wood. ;)

  • @MuckyWaters It's better that he splits wood, than skulls :-)

  • Good exercise.

  • How big is your damn house or is it winter all year long?

  • @YouGotsToBeStupid

We only use about 1/2-3/4 of that wood in one winter (heating house and shop), but only a fool stockpiles "just enough".

Besides the woodshed looks better full than empty. :)

  • @generalsaam

Actually it's only a bit more than we burn in a year. That shed holds 5 cord and we usually burn about 4 cord per year.

And yes, we fall the trees and cut them to length and bring it home to split it.

    Thanks for watching :)

  • Not to sound like a smart hind-end or anything, but, I always stand kinda to the side when I swing an ax or splitting hammer on account of accidentally missing when I swing.

  • @drpepper350

You just haven't learned the proper technique for swinging a maul. You do it so the head continues moving straight down when it hits the wood rather than swinging it thru in an arc that could swing back towards yourself.

To do this you lower the handle of the maul faster and lower at the end of the swing. Watch him closely.

  • @drpepper350 Avoiding a swing-through is an important part of axe work. So you're right there.

One way is swinging in such a way that the chopping block will stop the head before it has a chance to swing back at you. (As done in this video.)

With shorter axes like a hatchet (I use one for making kindling) the best bet is to kneel down so the swing hits the chopping block again. If you don't want to or can't kneel, I find it best to stand with legs straddled and swing along my centreline.

  • i got th same wood splitter

  • My dad used to have one of those wood splitters, too.

  • His technique could be a little better, but its nice to see people doing some good manual labor.

  • Was hoping for a ssc4wd... But this will do...What does it run on :P

  • @john83truongms

    LOL

Ah! Feeding it the proper fuel is the key to keeping it running efficiently. Most days it will run ok on breakfast cereal and peanut butter and banana sandwiches. However sometimes it will start to bog down half way through the day. When this happens I find it useful to reset the timing with a loud beat, it seems to prefer Led Zeppelin, or Jimmy Hendrix.

  • Very good!

  • hahaha, i like your sense of humor .. Good on ya son, father must be proud..

  • wish my dad taught me to split wood and watnot :/ i feel deprived D:

  • @user240485

No I got my brother to do half of it...

  • I don't get why this video has so many dislikes? I like your sense of humor, my dad called me his automatic wood splitter once before, too.

  • Good to see a young person who likes to work hard! Such a rarity in this day and age. I hope he gets a nice allowance for his hard work!

  • Hahaha only good reason i could ever find to have kids!!!

  • What is automatic about this? That's it's done by someone else other than yourself?

  • do you heat your home with wood ...or do you sell all that

  • @joemackinho

    Just heat our home.

  • L:oved splitting wood when I was younger, even though I chopped my toe a bit when I was really really young haha.

Pays off when you're freezing ya ass off in winter.

  • more manuel then automatic ya think

  • ...One down...A lifetime behind you....

  • РАГУЛЬ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Almost automatic. I bet you have to pay him or kick him in the ass or he is rewarded in some way or he would not do it automaticlly. You would know better than I if he is cheaper & more durable than a store bought splitter. Of course, to use a store bought splitter you would still need someone to feed it and that would require you to work or reward him or someone else to do the splitting. (my point is that nothing is pretty much automatic.) - Enjoy his help as long as you can then get a new one.

  • @specialks1953 maybe he was raised right and his reward is staying warm through the winter because of his hard work.

  • @chainlinkdreams - You probably are right about that. It will make him a better man as he grows up. Most young people now days are so pampered they will have problems in the future. Of course that will translate into more problems for America (not to get too political).

  • @specialks1953 Amen, America needs more kids like this one.

  • @chainlinkdreams ..Easy Jeremiah Johnson..Its 2011 and the kids able to go to collage and not have to split wood the rest of his life..

  • @morace250 I never said he had to split wood all his life lol, just that he's on the right track to a great future because he knows the rewards of hard work.

  • agree 100 % the best 3-d video game with kinect fitnes for free and real man ! not like pusys behind the computers vho watch this video.

  • Good video. You look pretty adept at it.

  • You are a machine kiddo !!!

Screw the x box, after splitting all that wood you will be so stout you can whip

three gamer nerds at a time !!!!

  • ...elettronic wood splitter!!!!! very nice job!!!!

  • You know this reminds me of Fable, I would love to work through the hours of the day cutting wood and when you get it right that smile :) I love to cut it. Become Strong too . Yeah

  • bro splitting wood is so fun !!

  • hahaha yep, people ask my parents where our dishwasher is, where our log splitter is, where the lawn mower is, every time they just point to me...

But seriously, USE A TIRE TO SPLIT THAT SHIT! Makes all the difference in the world...

  • i split some log 2 feet around they werent all the dry so they didnt split that easy

  • how much wood you need

looks like you have way to much wood for the winter

  • Great work ethic!

  • oh man i hope he didnt have to split all that wood behind him poor guy.

  • Every bit of it ;)

Sure beats playing video games don't ya think?

  • @MuckyWaters yes sir it sure does!

  • @MuckyWaters absolutely.

TV is making people think that its essential to our living.

  • @MuckyWaters lol

  • @MuckyWaters i think so anyway

  • @MuckyWaters Just off this one comment I already like you... subscriber as of now.

  • @MuckyWaters if you are a Christian and you teach your son the bible then you have got to be one of the best parents out there.

  • @Death2TheFlesh Why do you have to go ruin a good video with your religious psychobabble? Looks like hes a good dad regardless of his religious background. Hail Zeus!

  • @MuckyWaters Precisely the reason I just bought a 92 acre farm in the boonies. Better my son grow up and belong to 4H than a street gang. You must be proud. Can't wait till my son is old enough to split wood with me. Nothing like teaching a kid some work ethic.
