Thanx for the episode. I guess it wasn't the exact one I was thinking of, but close enough; I must have my episodes mixed up - it Has been decades, lol.
I'd often wonder about that myself. Perhaps it's because, unlike with Mark, Rebecca owed Willie her forgiveness since she herself had seen him naked, whereas with Mark she didn't owe him anything at all. Still, kids being kids, they probably were back to being pals at some point, even if we never saw Rebecca after this ep, or Annie for that matter once Valerie was killed off.
Let me add that I get why they weren't included, at least the "real life" reasons. Christine Ebersole was on another show, "The Cavanaughs", & Judith Kahan was phased out due to Valerie's firing.
I also realize the show wanted to keep any references to Valerie Hogan to a minimum, otherwise she'd be seen as too sympathetic. So there was very little focus on that. I just think it altered a bit of the show's character truth by handling it this way. The fire ep was brilliantly acted though.
Funny, the Stecks lived close enough to the Hogans that Rebecca saw Willie's birthmark on his buttocks, and Annie's elm tree was clogging the Hogans' pipes, but when the fire occurred, they are nowhere in sight.
Neither was Barbara Goodwin (Christine Ebersole), who commented that it'd be like "Pet Cemetary" near her yard if the Hogans buried Murray in their backyard (see "Dog Day Afternoon" Season 1). When Annie's & Barbara's dead best friend's family's house is on fire, where were they?
No, the Stecks were there before the Pooles. Annie debuts in the Season 2 opener when Mark moons the student body, and Mrs. Poole debuts in the very next episode where David falls in love with Linda (Kristy Swanson). Annie & Mrs. Poole are often seen together as well. A few of those eps are posted already.
I think the Pooles were meant to explain why Barbara Goodwin was no longer around, meaning she had moved away & the Pooles moved in to her old house. It was never officially stated however.
