My uncle and father, whom passed away, did service for an even more disrespected unit, but if only the people knew. There is no use in comparing..what I know is that our services were extremely professional and the best for the context in which we fought. Think about 32 Bn, Angolans fighting in a "regular" (nothing really regular about 32) SADF unit and of course 44 Para Brigade were some Americans served (only source out of my head is Granger Korff's book 19 with a bullet) and don't forget the Rhodesians who continued their fight for justice in SA after the politicians lost their war in Rhodesia.

The guy from SAS said he did get into a fight with an American who served in Vietnam.... so yes there where americans in angola

I served in the United States Marine Corps and I know a few retired/defectors that served in the US military that have proudly gone over to Africa and served in the South African forces (while not being a citizen) and among other country military services/tribes like the Sudan Danka tribe helping them fight off the Muslims from Durfar.

Think about 32 Bn, Angolans fighting in a "regular" (nothing really regular about 32) SADF unit and of course 44 Para Brigade were some Americans served (only source out of my head is Granger Korff's book 19 with a bullet) and don't forget the Rhodesians who continued their fight for justice in SA after the politicians lost their war in Rhodesia.
Lovejen01 forgot about Israel since the R4, the para boots and helmets plus some helos were given to the SADF by IDF.

@XXXBOER I know of a ex SAS who joined the recce, (said it was the toughest training he'd ever gone through)... in the begining CIA was there and the US supported SA... after that once they turned tail and ran, (sorry guys but thats how it was) all support pulled out, but there was not reason why anyone from any country could not get an SA pasport and join the army. The guy from SAS said he did get into a fight with an American who served in Vietnam.... so yes there where americans in angola

@HunterR909 Not that I know but I know of other nationals they had to do national service once they became SA perminant residence, there was a raw POMMIE and that was something else. I do know for a fact that there were American mercinaries for I had met them, and how true it is i cannot say but USA sent some troops to get experiance on the boarder and something went wrong, as well I know the CIA were up there as well
