@WaRDoG29298 Yeah, I did the crazy thing and assumed that Wes had read the macros ciderhelm posts on his site (and are all over the forums) and already had suppressmacrofailures in or had at least seen that this is a non-issue and is just preference, and was voicing the still-prevalent complaint that you can't macro your entire sequence into one button like in other games, where the macro fires off abilities in sequence. I know, silly me. :)
@WesWood84 Depends on what kind of way around you are looking for. You can't do cast sequences, but you can have a macro loaded with abilities which can only fire under certain conditions. For example, reactives off the GCD can be added to any macro. Abilities with cooldowns can be added to your spam macro, the macro tries to fire off the first ability, if it can't it moves onto the next, etc. So if you're looking to macro your entire rotation to a single button, no. But you can consolidate.
First off, obvious thanks for all the work you put into your general tanking guides. They were a huge help when I rolled on a new server to play with friends. The levelling build was a huge help, and the 51VK is a beast tanking T1 bosses under-geared.
The 2.3 solo build has been my questing/grinding/dailies etc since I saw it a couple of days ago in my mid-40s. I honestly don't use my RB/Champ any more when solo, this build is amazing. Chain-invasions in Ruston actually dinged me 50, thanks.

I gave Rift a chance. It was ok. Having come from WoW this is more of the same. It adds some new and improved features but lacks some of WoWs newer ones. It would be a good game as a first time MMO though.
Rift is fun leveling your first character to 50, but it becomes a huge grindfest after that. The soul system which is Rift's selling point is the exact same thing as any other MMO, there is just slightly more variety in the crap talents you wouldn't spec into. In order to get to the decent abilities that you NEED you HAVE to put numerous points into completely useless talents. The graphics are ok, the story is meh, and once you level 1 character you might as well not do another.
@Arealdruid Not to mention that the character development lack any depth whatsoever. For example, I was severely disheartned to learn that the quests to obtain your additional souls all follow the exact same pattern: Pick a quest, go close a rift, kill a mob, return to questgiver, rinse and repeat until you have all 8. No epic storylines or any sort of challange that really makes you feel: "I earned this extra power i my character"

@ShazowNeptulon Rift has substantially better game design in key areas. For instance, unless World of Warcraft has suddenly changed since the last five years, one big difference is that you'll find hundreds of people doing major invasions, rifts, events, etc, in the open world all the time, instead of sitting in the capital city.
I also find the class design to be much stronger due to the raw flexibility you have in Rift.
New content also releases every couple months, not 1-2 times a year.
@Ciderhelm lets not kid ourselfs Cider. People usually talk up the game or thing they are doing at the moment and always make it seem better. I dunno about you but I have sat in Meridian and Sanctum before and saw the same thing I saw in WoW. people just on to be on. You speak highly of the game now because its all fresh and new.. and its not WoW. But alot of people still enjoy wow, and yes im sure wow brings out a patch per every couple months is true.. but at least its more polished then GSB.

Trion has done an amazing job with all of RIFT's content, and the game only has room to grow, exponentially at that. Also, Rift has many features that wow once had, but has since removed, because they runied the game (one-button-spam-macros)

WoW is dieing for me. It's just boring - Blizzard just continues to force players into doing shit they don't want to do, therefore making it work, not a game.

@Halikarz31 You clearly haven't played recently. Having to do a variety of TWO heroic dungeons at least 7 times per weak in addition to the same dailies every day IS work. It's definately not fun - to anyone. I've given up on attempting to stay competative with gear because it's so fucking boring. It's not worth it. Just sold the valor bracers for 8.5k today.

@TheHidds i play Rift and WoW but wow still has its massive appeal to players and community. But saying that Firelands isnt enough for another 7 1/2 months of content. @kukluxkhris I think that statement is based on the fact that rift uses alot of things World of Warcraft did. Ofcourse yes WoW uses alot of things from Everquest for example, but Rift is the same with WoW
Take the dungeon finder for example, and achievements. Blizzard makes a dungeon finder is Wotlk, its one of their best creations in WoW. Rift would sortof lack fun if it didnt have this. Also look at acheivements, WoW makes acheivements in Wotlk, now Rift has them. Though it does make sense

The reason for this is that back when wow was made MMOs were not mainstream and in fact were for the "nerdiest of the nerds". When wow came out it mainstreamed it. Now Rift comes along, does what wow did, but now the fanbase doesnt want to "start over" or is extremely attached to what is now the "trendy" game to play. @Superman285 I played wow for 6 years I left . Wow didnt start off with millions of players . It started with just a few of us and grew over 6 years. I lived on wow spent 10 to 16 hours a day there . Ya I had no life my kids my spouse my neighbors we all played together.Rift is a beautiful game . I know of 54 accounts that made the switch to rift . Oddly many right to the same shard as Ciderhelm including me. Trion also has a great customer support .They want to know what you want .
I would like to see some more rift vids.. Ive been playing wow for a while know, and even though I still like wow and play it a bit more casual now then earlier, I like to see that some competition came through after all. cant wait for SW: the old repuclic, hope the will make it like rift does!
@JerrizDDT When it comes to Rift... meh. Personally i enjoyed parts of it very much. What made me stop playing was the constant nerfs to the classes, and the class balance in itself.
It contributed alot to slowing me down during my leveling (Was powerleveling all the classes) and i kinda just gave up on it.
It's a *really* good game. I think if my guild fell apart without an immediate alternative and if they'd come up with some more dramatic looking visuals for the game (it's all very pretty high polygon but bland) I'd seriously consider switching.
From a class design standpoint Rift is leaps and bounds over WoW. Sadly, they lost a lot of style points with me going the art style they did. A bit of a bummer.

@kukluxkhris I think that statement is based on the fact that rift uses alot of things World of Warcraft did. Ofcourse yes WoW uses alot of things from Everquest for example, but Rift is the same with WoW
Take the dungeon finder for example, and achievements. Blizzard makes a dungeon finder is Wotlk, its one of their best creations in WoW. Rift would sortof lack fun if it didnt have this. Also look at acheivements, WoW makes acheivements in Wotlk, now Rift has them. Though it does make sense

@Halikarz31 yeah WoW took the best from all other mmo's at the time and now rift is doing the same. But tbh i dont think Rift is the so called Wow Killer. There's it will have to bring to the table before theres any sign for that the only way wow will be killed is if Blizzard decide to kill it. i.e bad choice's to take froma nd put into game.

@kukluxkhris I think in a world without world of warcraft Rift would have been what WoW has become, a unstoppable megalith of a game. The reason for this is that back when wow was made MMOs were not mainstream and in fact were for the "nerdiest of the nerds". When wow came out it mainstreamed it. Now Rift comes along, does what wow did, but now the fanbase doesnt want to "start over" or is extremely attached to what is now the "trendy" game to play. They dont move to Rift for the image wow gives

@Superman285 I played wow for 6 years I left . Wow didnt start off with millions of players . It started with just a few of us and grew over 6 years. I lived on wow spent 10 to 16 hours a day there . Ya I had no life my kids my spouse my neighbors we all played together.Rift is a beautiful game . I know of 54 accounts that made the switch to rift . Oddly many right to the same shard as Ciderhelm including me. Trion also has a great customer support .They want to know what you want .

I would like to see some more rift vids.. Ive been playing wow for a while know, and even though I still like wow and play it a bit more casual now then earlier, I like to see that some competition came through after all. cant wait for SW: the old repuclic, hope the will make it like rift does!

@JerrizDDT When it comes to Rift... meh. Personally i enjoyed parts of it very much. What made me stop playing was the constant nerfs to the classes, and the class balance in itself.
It contributed alot to slowing me down during my leveling (Was powerleveling all the classes) and i kinda just gave up on it.

It's a *really* good game. I think if my guild fell apart without an immediate alternative and if they'd come up with some more dramatic looking visuals for the game (it's all very pretty high polygon but bland) I'd seriously consider switching.
From a class design standpoint Rift is leaps and bounds over WoW. Sadly, they lost a lot of style points with me going the art style they did. A bit of a bummer.
