if you got to explain it,sadly then you just dont get it and you never will, you got to know inside, and the feeling of feeling free, living in your own boundries and with your rules no politicians ,no goverment telling you how to live, think ,spend etc.. its all about freedom of the soul, feeling the road, the speed, the feeling YOUR ALIVE, AND YOUR FREE BABY! its a awesome feeling! try it sometime!!
i've shown this movie to a lot of my friends, even some old girlfriends and they all find it boring but this is a timeless classic that this new generation just dosent and never will understand. love that beautiful mopar big block roar! mopar or no car
@Jacked97Ram I actually saw this movie for the first time this weekend. I love cult movies. I love old music...and I love mopars. I own a 2009 Challenger R/T, and I was told by older guys to watch this. I dig it!
When this song comes on in the movie...holy hell...makes me wish I could've been in that car so I could've planted my right foot through the firewall... The only thing missing here is the sound of that big Dodge under load!
@carbonfootprintmyass ..Yes...I remember the movie when it first aired, as a kid knowing my sports cars I notice the tail lights of the crashed car as a camaro. But it's still a awesome flick worth watching today.
IT WAS A CAMARO. THERE IS NO DEBATE IT IS FACT. Also tell your friend if you know your muscle cars you could never make that mistake as there is a clear shot of a camaro right before it hits the bulldozers. You can also see the slashes on the sides only camaros have right behind the door on the rocker moulding. So apparently your buddy aint no car guy. I grew up around muscle cars my whole life working on them. Dropped a 454 in my 67 chevelle a while ago. This movie is all about freedom!
SRS= Supplemental Restraint System (Airbags). If you pull the fuse for this the airbags will not deploy when the G-force and crush sensors are tripped during a stunt/going offroad
the remaining challengers where sent back to dodge after filming and were crushed..can you imagine the value of one of the original cars on barret jackson today?..
I ACTUALLY had the privilage of owning a 1970 Challenger (bought it in 1995). Had it painted White (beautifull $1200.00 job) and drove it daily. It had a Dodge 360 (originally had a 340), Slapstick automatic (Oh well...), and regularly exeeded 130 MPH in the early morning hours after work, on I-40 in Orange County NC. Had a .323 Fury rear-end, so it took a little while to get up to that speed.
Yep, Camaro was towed by a 383 equipped Autotrans Challenger on a 1/4 mile cable.

@vieshus It's common knowledge that they crashed a 67 camaro. look at the body lines on the crashed car at the end of the movie and it's obvious. Theres pictures somewhere on the internet showing them packing the camaro with explosives awaiting it's destiny with the bulldozers.
As an 8 1/2 - year-old Vietnamese refugee seeing this flick in a Guam retugee camp in the summer of 1975, this movie fascinated me EVEN TO THIS DAY!!!...
I went around thinking: "Damn, how did they made that car jump from one side of the road to another like that?!!!..."
The last song, "Nobody Knows," from the movie (while the credits are rolled up) was recorded by Kim Carnes; she went on to recorded "Betty Davis' Eyes" in 1982 which hit the No. 1 spot for about SIX WEEKS on the Billboard's Top 40 Chart.
the original rocks, remakes are a bag of rancid shite, long live Kowalski long live muscle cars, fit motorbike birds, drugs and cool tunes from the 70's, driving fast and the sound of v8...... peace
@abu1125 The Jensen is originally fitted with big block 440 mopar, peace to all and long live MOPAR'S and kowalski!!!! - there will be a sequel in the 2011 AT THE VALLETTA GRAND PRIX on MAY 20/21 - WISH US LUCK!! ....LOVE!......NOT ALL SEQUEL'S ARE BAD!!!
@bunkieb00 Tell that to Hollywood, we don't need a 2nd re-make. I dunno how they'll duplicate the stuff in this film without setting off a few airbags in todays Challengers, oh, wait, they'd just CGI it all with shaky cameras and fast takes.
Jimmy Walker recorded this song during the time he was replacing Bill Medley in the Rigtheous Brothers. If you dig this, check out my page on the "Space for friends" site (sorry, can't mention the name here) about his time with the Brothers. Cool stuff!
I`m proud to say I know this movie word for word. Have it on CD and have watched it countless times!! Truly a great song too. Even better without the car noise. Definitely a camaro crashed. Us Mopar fans can afford to lose them!!
You're right, they crashed a Camaro. All of the Challengers had to be returned to Dodge after filming wrapped, as per the agreement between the producers and the automaker. So they picked up a used white '67 Camaro, removed the motor and trans and loaded the car with explosives. Then, using one of the Challengers as a tow vehicle, they ran a long cable between the bulldozers and pulled the Camaro into the blades at speed.
Yep itss tarting to look alot like the 67 Camero was the doner car. Bought time they don't wreck a Dodge. Think of all the Mopars sacrificed for the making of movies and car shows. It turns my stomach.
