IT WAS A CAMARO. THERE IS NO DEBATE IT IS FACT. Also tell your friend if you know your muscle cars you could never make that mistake as there is a clear shot of a camaro right before it hits the bulldozers. You can also see the slashes on the sides only camaros have right behind the door on the rocker moulding. So apparently your buddy aint no car guy. I grew up around muscle cars my whole life working on them. Dropped a 454 in my 67 chevelle a while ago. This movie is all about freedom!

@vieshus It's common knowledge that they crashed a 67 camaro. look at the body lines on the crashed car at the end of the movie and it's obvious. Theres pictures somewhere on the internet showing them packing the camaro with explosives awaiting it's destiny with the bulldozers.

If you listen carefuly you can recognize that is a Nobody Knows by Kim and Dave, but played slower and only with guitar.

You're right, they crashed a Camaro. All of the Challengers had to be returned to Dodge after filming wrapped, as per the agreement between the producers and the automaker. So they picked up a used white '67 Camaro, removed the motor and trans and loaded the car with explosives. Then, using one of the Challengers as a tow vehicle, they ran a long cable between the bulldozers and pulled the Camaro into the blades at speed.

That's correct they used the Challenger with the automatic gear for seamless gear changes so the Camaro wouldn't slip off the hook.

One of the best - if not THE best - car movies ever made, in my opinion. I wish someone would produce a new car-focused movie with the same quality (REAL stunts, not CGI-enhanced junk) and high-speed intensity and fun of the classics from the '60s and '70s. What's been made recently? The pathetic "Fast & Furious" franchise, the Tarantino-tainted "Death Proof" which also sucked, or terrible remakes like "Gone in 60 Seconds" - the '67 Shelby was cool but the movie was awful.
